JANUARY/ FEBRUARY

Well what a horrible Winter we have been having with all of these constant strong winds, which are forcing the Weymouth charter fleet to stay in the harbour most of the time. However when the weather has been nice enough for us to get out, the fishing hasn't been disappointing us. The wrecks are fishing pretty steady with quite a lot of double figure Pollock coming out. The biggest on Meerkat so far 17lb 8oz (pictured here) and the biggest in the fleet 19lb 8oz but there is still plenty of time for someone to get that magical 20lb.
INSHORE
The inshore anchor marks are fishing just as well with up to 12 species coming up in the same spot. The last few weeks have shown some amazing specimen fish caught from one of our local marks. Some are listed below
Conger Eels to 60lb
Spur Dogs to 15lb
Undulated Rays to 17lb
Thornback Rays to 14lb
Blonde Rays to 34lb
Also among all these bigger fish we have been catching quite a few nice tabled size Whiting.
I have also heard/ seen that the first signs of Turbot are starting to show on the famous Shambles Bank, so hopefully it won't be too long before we start seeing a few more.
If you fancy a trip out on Meerkat or have any questions you would like to ask, please feel free to contact me 07776182782 or email me on ryancasey1@hotmail.com
Hope to see you all soon.

Report on-board Shy-Torque III
A very unusual settled spell of weather this last weekend put a big smile on both the anglers faces and mine too!!
View Boats Page
Cancelling trips has become something of a regularity this last month for the Shy-Torque due to the endless gales, so to be able to give the thumbs up for a change was great.
26.02.16.
Friday didn't fish very well at all to be honest. We started off on the 9 mile ground and wrecks for just a hand full of fish. We decided to run to the wrecks on the 18 / 20 mile with very disappointing results there too. The vote was to run back inside and finish the day off with some anchor fishing where we managed another 4 or 5 codling. All in all, very scarce.
27.02.16.
Saturdays forecast was very good so the casting vote was to run out to the "Wall" with the lads. As soon as we arrived all the rods were finding the action and the fishing remained steady all day long. The mixed group of 10 anglers ending up with over 100 cod and a hand full of ling. Nothing big on the boat. Best cod going around 7lb. Simon England having the best bag with 17 fish.
28.02.16.
Sundays forecast was again on our side so we all agreed that a run back out to the "Wall" was in order. Not quite as many fish caught but with the numbers edging toward the 80 fish mark, all in all a fairly decent result again.
Best bag went to Brian Stanton with 15 cod and the heaviest fish of the day went to regular angler Jez Lester with a very nice cod of 9 lb 5 oz.
The fish were falling to both the artificial lures and the bait.
Give me a ring anytime between 8 am and 8 pm to arrange any trips.

Report on-board Girl Mandy
Sorry if this offends but if i find out who the bloody idiot or group that has been spreading rumours about me or my business i will come down on them like a ton of bricks.Firstly i have not retired or died i intend to work until i can no longer do so, i have worked on the water in many different ways for the last 48 years and to hear of such crap being put about makes my blood boil. Secondly the tackle business that my son works in is not closing down the reasons the shop is shut on Tuesday and Wednesday until march has been down to the atrocious weather the we have been enduring the last few months and this has also stopped us going to sea for a good many weekends. I am not like some skippers that will take customers out regardless off conditions as do some skippers i know i enjoy my time afloat and i will not go for the sake of it i do hope this clears matters for those concerned and as the saying goes if you want the truth get it direct from the horses mouth not his ARSE until next time hopefully good fishing and tight lines

Fishing Report by Carl Farrar
on TROT- ON (Whitby, North Yorkshire)
26 Feb 2016 by Carl Farrar
Report on-board TROT- ON
The weather has not been very kind to us in Whitby so far in 2016, However, Friday saw us venturing offshore for the first time this year, We were joined by Trot On regular "BIG ANDY" and his friends Martin, Jim and Ollie from Doncaster. While Jim has "done" shore fishing in the past it was his first time boat fishing and he was not disappointed, After a 2hr steam we arrived at one of skipper Paul Eddon's favorite wrecks which has produced Very, Very well for us in the past. We had arrived just at the back end of slack water so it was down with bait first, The fishing was steady with 2 or 3 fish each drift, However when the tide started to pick up a quick change to shads was the order of the day. The water although not gin clear was clear enough for the shads to be working well, With the anglers taking codlings to 5-6lb we also had a few strap ling, Fishing died off when Sammy the seal appeared and decided to take a fish one angler was reeling in. So it was time for a move, We tried some ground on the way back in and Martin decided to have a drop with a string of hookki's and caught a nice plump codling of about 5lb We ended the day with approx 40-50 fish between the lads, Not a bad result really for the conditions and time of year,
