    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Yesterday (9th Feb) the sun was shinning, and the wind had dropped to around 18 mph so we took a couple of people out on Vanishing Point-2 to try out the fully installed clay shooting equipment, shooting gallery and safety barrier.
I am glad to say that all went well and we are fully operational.
We do now have a 20 bore shotgun for our female clients which is considerably lighter that the 12 bore.
Here in the photos you can see various shots of yesterdays event, starting with a sequence of instructions from loading, to passing the gun, to controlled firing, and a few photos of myself just showinf off..!!!
Looks like we might actually get out at the weekend, and the wind is going round to the North so Clacton here we come...lol but seriously I have had quite a few phone calls asking me how the fishing is?? well the honest short answer is I don't know..! as like everyone else we have not been out for what seems like an eternity, so I guess we will find out on Saturday...!!!
But as always when the wind goes round to the north, it brings with it a very cold air stream.... Brrrrr..! so wrap up warm guys, and yes the wheelhouse will be kept to around 70 degrees all day so you will be able to get some rest bite from the cold if you need to.
Ok then ...... tight lines and Hot guns....!!!

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Still the wind blows...Arggh,,!! when will it ever stop.???
Well with trips cancelled yet again, Friday ,Saturday< Sunday, and now Monday... it makes you appreciate how the skippers down South feel, with a vast amount of their trips cancelled year on year through bad weather, it is not something we are used to, and I don't want too either, it's driving me bonkers, if this is global; warming you can stick it..!! give me back the cold frosty winters, the foggy Octobers, put up with the March winds, and April showers, but this constant bloody wind it doing my head in.!!!
Well on lighter note...(not though we can get out and do any) the boat is now fully set up for Clay Pigeon Shooting, so when the weather breaks, we will pop out in the Estuary and give it a go, might even have a promotion day and if enough people contact me, run a mid-week clay shooting special special ...
As a suggestion from one of our customers, we will also have a 20 bore shotgun for the ladies or younger shooters if they prefer..!
But for now, we will just have to watch the weather and pray for a settled spell so we can get some fishing in.....
Ok Guys n Gals...... Tight lines and Hot Guns..!

  • 06/02/2016 Fishing Report by Philip Higgins on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

6 Feb 2016 by Philip Higgins

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

    Hi
Due to the weather we have suffered this winter the fishing has been limited to last minute weather windows during these the fishing has been extremely good with good catches of Ray's, Congers, Spurdogs and plenty of Whiting . The Flounder fishing inside Poole Harbour has exceeded expectations not in size but the quantities have been good, doing your homework on tides and having local bait seems to be the key to success.
As we look forward to the coming months inshore the Plaice will arrive in March and the sporting Black Bream soon after, offshore the wrecks will start to produce good size Pollack followed by everyone's favourite the Cod in May, during these periods heading to the banks will produce Turbot and Brill.
To avoid missing out as the diary fills up give me a call to secure the dates of your choice, the schedules shown are not always up to date so a call is advisable.
    Tight lines

  • 02/02/2016 Fishing Report by TERRY BATT on Vanishing Point-2 (Bradwell Marina, Essex)

2 Feb 2016 by TERRY BATT

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Sorry I have not been on here to do reports... but with the current weather patterns, this has played havoc with our fishing trips.
Many of our anglers have made the comment, "I thought your boat can go out in adverse conditions?? well the answer is it can..!! but the reason we don't go is, basically you wouldn't enjoy it... well one or two of you would, but most would not.
Vanishing Point-2 was built to withstand harsh weather conditions and has more than proven herself in the hostile waters of the Irish sea for 3 years, and worked in seas of up to 3 meters high, so there is no question about the vessel, or our ability to operate in these type of conditions, but it's one thing working in those conditions, and trying to fish at anchor in those conditions..!
But as always point out to my guys.... I have given you the best advice I can, but if after all that you still want to go, and I consider it is safe, then we will take you, then there is no room to say ...."this is crap" yep, and we told you it would be..! but I must say rarely has this happens...
OK guys, as of today, the clay shooting on Vanishing Point-2 will be officially ready to go, with all the relevant safety equipment in place, so one choice you do have if the fishing is not,, for what ever reason going to happen, and you guys want to do shooting then you have the option.
We are going to run days where you can just book and pay for half a days charter, say from 0900 to 1300 (4 hours) and just do clay shooting, at anchor, or steaming into the wind, which has a massive affect on the flight of the clays, or steaming down wind, again has a dramatic affect on the flight of the clays so defiantly not easy, but all are subject to sea conditions.
We have now picked up the awards to be given out at the end of the shooting session we have......The prized, fully engraved..
"Vanishing Point-2 Top Gun " rosewood shield for 1st Place.
Silver colour medal on a ribbon for 2nd place
Bronze colour medal on a ribbon for 3rd place
So prizes well worth competing for (pleas see photo below), great for company team building events, or just a great day with good friends.
OK guys, lets hope this weather soon calms down and the fish go on the feed again..!!! so until then... Tight Lines, & Hot Gun's.
