    Report on-board Mistress

Its been a good few days for us on ‪Mistress‬ here at ‪Whitby‬ .

Today sort of stands out a bit really, we caught quite a few different species today, but we managed a handful of really nice fish, both Cod and Ling into double figures, nothing huge topping out at around 11lb but great to see non the less

We had a regular group on from Grimsby, we got off to a flying start then it went quiet for an hour or two then as we moved round the last two marks chucked us some really nice fish out, including, a Wolf Fish for Chris and a Ballan Wrasse to one of the other guys onboard.

Chris the lucky devil manged two double figure cod today, there were plenty of fish for everyone, inlcuding quite a lot of throw back stuff. Most of the fish were caught in bait rigs baited with fresh mackerel and squid.

If you would like to give us a try, give me a call on 07977 436903 or drop me a message on my e-mail seafishingwhitby@hotmail.co.uk or on my FB page Mistress Sea Angling Charters

    Tight Lines - Rich

  • 26/07/2015 Fishing Report by Phil White on Chinook 3 (Bradwell Marina, Essex)

26 Jul 2015 by Phil White

    Report on-board Chinook 3

After a quiet couple of weeks the fishing has picked up well this week with increasing numbers of most species. We have also seen a few mackerel for the first time and the fishing always improves when they show up.

There have been some big smoothies showing up in the shallow water, best reported at over 18 lb last week and plenty of double figure fish, most of these fish are taking hermit or peeler crab as well as ragworm. All should be returned alive as they have young inside.

There are a few more bass showing up with best on my boat at 7 lb on Friday. This fish was a personal best for Romford angler Paul Darcy and fell for a rag and squid cocktail.

There are a lot more thornbacks around this week with a good showing of 3-6 lb fish in most of the offshore areas, these fish will probably be around all summer now, best baits are fish, squid and ragworm.

Inshore has been hard with most of the fish moving well offshore, however as we get into late summer the thornbacks and first whiting will start to show up again and the piers and shore marks will start to produce again.

Prospects are excellent, there are reports of more big smoothies showing along with thornbacks and bass, if the water stays clear offshore there should be mackerel to be had.

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Just to bring us up to date on local fishing in truth hasnt been the easist season so far, apart from the smoothounds which fortunately has kept us busy with some brilliant rod bending action for everyone the weather has really stuffed plans this year.Even though we have been able to get out the wind hasnt allowed us to get where we want to go! For us the skate have been patchy so far compared to last year but seen this before which generally gives us a run of fish end of summer hopefully. Been averaging few bass a trip new laws hopefully should improve the sport especially if the netting issue is addressed as promised by IFCA and 42cm rule has to help. For us the mackerel starting to show up further off in the clear water small at the moment but thats normal, Millions of sandeels again same as last year nice to see more gurnards on the feathers this year. Tope have been fantastic for North Norfolk seemed to have moved off a bit now, hopefully few this way ,will be looking at fishing for them soon as this wind eases for us. Have put the leaflet up on picture , FREE copy to anyone who wants one just email name and address will send through to you have reprinted another batch as Sea Angler ads wiped us out. Having had such a good codling season last year on this coast weekend bookings are already being taken for the winter so dont leave it too late if you have a trip your planning on any of our local Norfolk/Suffolk boats. So after having lost both days this weekend apoligies to the lads we had to cancel cant beat the weather never will, looking forward to few mackerel now hopefully tope on the banks few biggies among them and bit of wrecking thrown in and a suntan!! Until then tight lines everyone. Jon. (High Flyer)

  • 07/2015 Fishing Report by Ross Parham on Spot On! (Brixham, Devon)

    Jul 2015 by Ross Parham

    Report on-board Spot On!

Well fishing again during the end of June and into July on board Spot On, has been nothing short of cod fantastic with wrecking from Brixham still fishing at its best.
Although not as many 20lber's as previous years but number of fish wise no contest as lots of fish in the 4-7lb mark making for some great scrappy sport and clean fillets for the table.

Some nice double figure summer Pollock are also in the mix with a few ling make up the majority of catches on the wrecks.

Channel island trips have been good with again on board Spot On with plenty of fish on the wrecks on the way and the Turbot have been small but we have had some monster Brill and with the bream fishing being amazing they have made the trips worth while.

Mackerel are still very hit and miss inshore but when we can get some fresh bait the Blonde & Small eyes rays are making an appearance on the ray pitts.

Plaice on the skerries are starting to increase in size and the numbers of 100+ fish per day is common as of late, also we have had a few small turbot coming on board as well which is great to see so long may it continue.

Over 50% of trips in July so far have been cancelled due to our fine summer weather!!

Bookings for 2016 have gone crazy and the calander is filling up fast so be quick if you want a trip on board Brixham and the south wests premier charter boat who always goes the extra mile and never stops working to give you the best chances to catch fish others only dream of.

Only one catamaran in Brixham and simply only one SPOT ON!

More channel island trips coming up after my holiday so I will keep you posted and the annual Torbay festival is also looming closer along with sharking so much more to fish for this year.

A big thanks goes to SIDEWINDER LURES & TOP RIGS for there continued sponsorship and support.

Thank you for all your continued support to myself and Spot On and choosing Brixham for our fantastic angling that we have to offer you.

Pictured is one of the great Sidewinder Rattle backs that have caught some awesome fish lately.

  • 07/2015 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Jul 2015 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

Ages since the last report, my apologies for that, things have just been Chaos here in Weymouth!

May was superb month with the wrecking just superb for Cod, and some really nice fish too. On one day the boat record was broken three times topped off by a cracker of 29lb for Andy Haydon.
Inshore was good for Bream for a few weeks until they had spawned and moved off which is the norm. With the arrival of a few mackerel the tope fishing went bonkers and continues to be steady now. Weymouth isn't famed for its big fish fishing and it gets rubbished by a lot of customers because they can't eat it. However when they get a 40b tope on they soon change their tune.

The channel islands run produced some decent flatty fishing throughout May, not mega numbers of fish but some very good quality. One day produced 26 turbot and Brill with 21 being keepers and 6 of those double figure fish.

Throughout June the Cod fishing continued and inshore there was plenty to target including Bream, Bass, Turbot, Brill, Tope, Undulate and Blonde Rays, and a nice few mackerel.

Now as July winds down with a fair bit of wind this month the wrecking has begun to tail off but still decent numbers of Cod for those that want it. Bream is getting better and better with each trip, inshore wrecks have produced great sport on the anchor with Bream, Bass, Pollack, congers and tope all featuring. A few decent sessions on the turbot and Brill locally has seen some cracking fish, the best being an 11b Brill once again for Andy Haydon, narrowly avoiding the boat record by just 2 ounces.

A nice day anchored on the wrecks yesterday produced 60+ congers for the group of 6 with the best fish about 60b's.

Here's Hoping August continues with great fishing and decent weather.

As always thanks to all that keep Weymouth on the map as the finest angling port in the country with the finest boats, skippers and facilities the modern angler could ask for. Keep on coming and experience the variety and quality any other port could only dream of offering.

    Tight Lines,

    Lyle

The first Wreck Fishing Trip after our extensive refit is now under our belt, and what a cracking day it was!
Our New engines powered us a steady and comfortable 17 knots out to the wrecks with a brief stop to veiw a pod of dolphin.
The fishing was steady all day with plenty of chunky Cod coming to the Net, all caught on sidewinder lures.
"Just Fishing" has spaces available from August onwards so check out our calendar, also " Just Fishing " will be available throughout the winter months to target the monster Pollock and Cod.
