    another fantastic weekend.
Although the weather kept us nearer home on Saturday we managed over 30 skate plus lots of whiting doggies and another gurnard
Sunday the weather was superb, fishing hampered at first by the weed but ended up with a lovely catch of hounds, skate and a run of bass.

This time out it was the regular Happy Dangler Hound Hunt, and this year we nailed it......With bright skys and light winds forecast we all met on the harbour side for around a 10am start. We had a short steam of about 20 minutes before we got the baits down for the first time, with most of us opting for crab baits, both peelers and hardbacks and it wasnt long before the first fish came over the gunnels, a little doggie.......but this was soon followed by the first of the hounds.....and for the next 5 hours we were bringing fish after fish to the surface.
Steve the skipper even demostrated a new technique in netting a surprise bass that lost the hook half way into the net but with some quick and nimble netting steve managed to get it over the gunnels.....
The last part of the trip proved to be hard fishing but after the frantic first half of the trip no one was complaining. We ended the day with over 50 smoothounds, bullhuss, bass, conger, thornback and blonde ray, pout, cod, and a few doggies.....
A thing to note though when using hardback crabs is that though these can be gathered freely compared to the high price of peeler's, and the hounds will take these all day long, you are pretty much ruling out any other species........but when the hounds are feeding i would highly recommend them......

    Report on-board Piscary

Fishing has been a bit tricky again this week, but we've had a couple of great comps, firstly we had the IBAC league match/species hunt practice, they had a great day boating 22 species with Ray Barren coming out on top with the points. The Poole species hunt was another great success with Alfie's Boys winning on the day with 19 species ,including 4 different Rays for 35 points, Christchurch Angling centre came 2nd with 32 points. Piscary was the top boat for the second year running with a combined score of 60 points. Big thank you Louis & Sarah Medley of Boney M for organising the comp and also the sponsors Navitus Bay and Blue Zone tackle

After a few days of fresh winds the wind dropped out and the conditions became near perfect to venture back out to the wrecks, after a fish less 1st wreck we moved 2 miles and our luck changed with good quality Cod and Pollack coming aboard every drift with numerous full house hook ups. As the day went on the fish kept coming with many being released, the anglers had a great day enjoying good fishing ,calm seas and plenty of sunshine one of them commented this was the 1st time he had used his sun block cream he has had in his tackle box for 3 years mind you when he took his sunglasses off he did look like a panda to the amusement of all those onboard.

The improvement in the weather has allowed us to venture further and Pauls group from Bucks came on a Varne trip, after catching some sandeels we fished a wreck for Bass. The wreck proved quiet so we moved onto rough ground and fishing hokkies and feathers a few nice Bass were landed along with Codling and Pollock. Mackerel fishing was surprisingly slow for the Varne but a move to another wreck topped up the box with more Pollack and Codling.
A tough day it was but the group left with some nice fish.

The latest comp out of Poole showed a wide range of species that can be caught and how much fun can be had from a day afloat. Bream have been prolific with many good fish being landed but all females being released, Smoothhounds have given a good account and provide great sport on light gear. Rays, Tope, Bullhuss are being caught in good numbers and once the illusive mackeral arrive in numbers these will further improve the catches. Cod and Pollack offshore have been very good and with the back end of this tide the fishing will get better than has been seen for a while.
I would like to thank all the anglers that have been aboard since my return to full time chartering as you have given me so much support I did not know until now what I was missing. THANK YOU. The enjoyment of meeting new people and sharing life experiences is enlightening and I hope to see you onboard soon. Back to the fishing Poole offers a variety of species in protected waters and some wonderful scenery on the odd day the fish go on holiday!!.

second trip out with three of us on board we headed out to a local mark following some good reports. things started off slowly with a good tide running as this eased the fishing picked up with the 2 hours either side of slack water fishing best ending up with 7 bass to 3.5lb, 4 thornbacks to 6lb 14oz, 3 cod to 4lb, plenty of whiting spotties and dabs. Only downside of the day was when a commercial netter wrapped its nets round us and dragged 2 complete set of gear over the side
