    Report on-board Mistress

Today was The lads from Burton-on-Trent, 2nd outing from ‪whitby‬ this year with us,

We tried bait fishing and hokkais, but the fish seemed to want the ‪shads‬, I recommended they get the 4" sidewinder sandeels, as they seem to be doing the damage just lately, no one colour outfished the rest, white, pink and rhubarb & custard all fished well.

I wouldn't say we had a startling day but a few flurries of fish in certain spots we fished kept the lads busy. A count up at the end of the end of the day revealed they'd managed a respectable 60 odd codlings between the 7 of them, There were a few pollock too and another rogue mackerel!

Needless to say they all enjoyed themselves, with plenty of crack onboard, they re-booked for next month,

If you fancy a trip with me on ‪Mistress‬ here at Whitby give me a call on 07977 436903 or drop me a message on my FB page Mistress Sea Angling Charters

    Report on-board Blazer 2

THe wrecks are producing cod in good numbers a good sign for the coming year as this is very early for our area, bream fishing has been poor so fishing the wrecks has been this time of year the best.

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Todays trip started well winds being same as forcast light southerly
so decided to head to a 4 mile bass spot as armed with fresh rag and
few peelers. Within 5 mins our first bass of the season came in which
was pleasing was thinking this is going to be a good day. Wasnt long
till the wind picked up turned SE waves got bit naughty so had to head
in. Had few doggie and smoothies from the mark too in all not bad for
an hours fishing. Moved inshore still too lumpy inside so only option
was to hide up right on the beach behind the outer harbour thats how
lumpy it had become, full marks to everyone as we had young ones on
board . Had nice mixed bag in all few keepers pictured here with some
of Barrys team on the wall back home due to the weather! Got away with
the day in the end ,few in the bag for tea and everyone safe was
enjoyable day apart from me spilling every cup of tea i made! British
weather hey. Thanks again to Barry for organising another day looking
forward to next months trip. Cheers. Jon. (High Flyer)

  • 12/05/2015 Fishing Report by Nick Gough on Skylark (Scarborough, North Yorkshire)

12 May 2015 by Nick Gough

    Report on-board Skylark

13lb cod from today's 6 hour trip inshore

Not the best conditions by far today with a strong wind which we couldn't get shelter from at all.

The anglers managed to get a few codling around the 2 to 5lb area but fishing was hard work.

The anglers probably had 15 cod in total between the 6 of them.

    Report on-board Skylark

Another good trip today only fishing 5 hours this afternoon and evening again plenty of fish showing with alot more different species showing up as well as cod and pollock.

A good 60 fish caught again with one lad managing to catch 13 to himself. And it was great to see many size fish been returned as he only wanted 3 Codlings to take home.

Again a good stamp of clean fish with a few around 5lb

    Report on-board Skylark

Fishing has really come alive inshore again with a good amount of really clean fish.

The lads this morning were out for 6 hours and had well over 60 fish between them all cod between 2 and 5 lb with a few Pollock around the 3 to 5 lb mark too.

All fish under 40 cm were returned to hopefully be caught when there bigger.

A great set of lads with a great sense of humor.

  • 11/05/2015 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

11 May 2015 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

With a window in the weather here at ‪whitby‬ we put to sea on a rather shabby forecast, we knew we would get at least half the day in and we did,

we dropped onto a bit a ground that hasn't really fished for a couple of years and was surprised to see signs of life as I cruised up and down the ground.

So 1st drop and we nailed 3 or 4 cod on the ‪shads,‬ tbh we continued all morning taking between 3 & 4 cod every drift, we also nailed a surprise Mackerel our first of the year! theyre very early this year
we continued until the swell got up a bit more with the fresh sw breeze pushing across it, I called lines up and we took a steady cruise inshore to drop the anchor on some soft ground to see if we could get picking of different species.

There must of been about a million Whiting on the soft as the lads were pulling them in 2 or 3 at time so no chance for any other fish to get a look in there.
we took a move to some hard ground and that was slow too so we called it a day, the lads were over the moon as we'd nailed 50-60 Cod before lunch.

if you fancy a trip with me on ‪Mistress‬ give me a call on 07977 436903 or drop me a message on my FB page Mistress Sea Angling Charters

  • 12/05/2015 Fishing Report by TERRY BATT on Vanishing Point-2 (Bradwell Marina, Essex)

12 May 2015 by TERRY BATT

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Hi everyone, well I am going out tomorrow to an undisclosed mark to see if the big hounds have arrived..!! if they are there I would not be surprised to see fish of over 20lbs.. it is a strange mark really as there is not much else lives there, so it is sh**t or bust, that's why me and Nicola do these little trial trips alone.

But if the fish are there then we will let you know on here, and if people want to go there it will be slightly more money to cover the distance we have to cover i.e. Diesel cost but hopefully well worth it...

Still lots of Skate coming in and more bass showing, not loads, but a few.

The water temperature is slow to rise as the weather has remained cold, so there is still some decent Codling to be had, a friend of mine John Rawle had around 7 Codling on Sunday so just shows, if you target them you can still get them....

Ok guys I will report back after tomorrows research trip to see what's out there..????

    Tight lines..!!!!
