MAY 2015
Often after some windy weather with water clarity not very good the best plan can be to fish at anchor on Banks and/or Reefs as one of our recent trips proved. The Spurdog fishing was just superb with lots of double figure fish and Personal Bests being set and broken ie Andy Collings broke his Spurdog PB three times with 16Ib,17Ib and a 20Ib fish. Baits used were Squid, Mackerel, Launce and Hermit crab. Pennel rigs and single hook traces with 6/0 Sakuma Manta hooks were used on the day.All the fish were released alive.Andy Collings is pictured with his 20 Pounder.
The Reef/Bank Trips at this time of the year wiill produce Rays,Spurdogs,Black Bream,Tope,Congers,Bull Huss,Smooth Hounds,Cod,Turbot and Brill.

Report on-board Sea Otter 2
The weather at the moment is a swine strong winds are keeping the charter fleet tied up but on bank holiday monday there was a window only really a few hours but i told the lads score and they were right up for it the team onboard have fishied with me for i dont know how many years Brian Cunningham and boys the lads just love fishing with shads but i told them it would be around lunchtime before the conditions would ease and the wind drop off .
We dropped the ankhor till around lunchtime then the wind did just as it said it would and eased away we had taken around 20-25 codling uptiding not bad for may and one or two around the 5lb mark but as isaid i promished the lads some shadding and that is just what they got i had one wreck in mind which i know has been fishing well some of lads stayed on full squid and 3 of them rigged up on shad the water was little green not the best when the tide is running hard the algie is around at the moment but it was starting to slow first go over the wreck the lads on the shads there rods went straight over cheers alound round the boat i knew we were in few hours good fishing next go over the wreck everybody on shad and next time round all the rods were over every body into fish the lads were loving it .
At the end of the day the lads finished with around 70 - 80 codlings so not bad all very happy and a hell of a lot more to come if i had got a full day at it we could have had something a lot lot better but the lads were still well happy they know whats coming here at whitby the signs are all there its going to be a big summer here on the cod .
The lads with just a few of there fish happy boys.View Boats Page

Report on-board Al's Spirit
Wrecking is still steady with good numbers of Pollack and Ling about with a few Cod showing amongst them. As we get further in to May the Cod should show in more numbers.
Inshore fishing has been good for Turbot on the right tides. Plaice showing in more numbers on the mussel beds and with Bream showing on the spring tides.View Boats Page

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)
May 2015 by Scott Belbin
Report on-board Galloper
April started well with good numbers of codling which were well on the feed before their migration. The numbers of thorn-backs increased as the month moved on making for some busy days. Some days we spent split the day in two and spent half targeting codling and half targeting the rays. As the month went on codling numbers declined and we are now seeing one or two mixed in but most have gone. T
he rays are here in great numbers though with good numbers on average even in the estuary so we can get out and have quality fish, in comfort in most conditions. There have been plenty of double figure fish mixed in and lots of males should you wish to keep any for the pot. Our best trip so far is 76 rays to 13lbs with 8 hire rods aboard. Luckily the lads had a bit of experience although I was still kept busy.
There are one or two bass showing now with some decent ones amongst them. Les king had the first of the year a couple of weeks ago at a respectable 7.3lbs. the first smooth-hound of the year came aboard the boat last weekend and we should be seeing several more of them as the month goes on. For now we will be continuing to concentrate on the rays as there’s still some great sport to be had. if we get a chance we’ll have a go for bass and as usual there’s always the chance of them mixed in with the rays.
I keep my website up to date with weekly reports and available dates and there’s loads more on there too. for more information please visit www.essexseafishing.co.uk or call 07956411528View Boats Page

Fishing Report by Philip Higgins

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
Hi
with the recent weather being somewhat un reliable we took the opportunity of the weather window being offered on Bank Holiday Monday to venture to the wrecks to look for Cod and Pollack, we fished several wrecks which all produced good numbers of small to medium Cod and Pollack, this certainly bodes well for the next few weeks, along with that the Black Bream in Poole Bay have increased in quality and numbers making this the ideal time to get afloat and target them. Mackeral are being caught which will herald the arrival of the Bass and Tope shortly. For more info on what is being caught from Poole or to book a place on board to catch Cod , Pollack or Black Bream please give me a call.
