    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

Yesterday’s team were treat to some cracking flat calm and (sunny at times) weather. The fishing on the other hand wasn’t so cracking!!

We played around on the rock top to start the day, looking for the Mackerel.
They were a little hard to come by, but after three or four drifts we had gathered enough for the day.

We dropped down to couple of the inshore marks which gave us some stunning fishing for four days on the last set of small tides. Nothing much at all, so down to the next mark we steamed.
A handful of small fish to chuck back that’s all and nothing on the Shads.

I figured that the “booling” Spring tides just gone had stirred the shallower waters so we moved out some wrecks in deeper water.

No great shakes on any of them with just a couple here and a couple there.
Thank goodness for the Mackerel bait as it was the only thing that caught for us!

Tally for the day, around 20 keepers, with the usual chuck backs.
    Cheers for now,
    Rich

  • 07/09/2023 Fishing Report by Andy Savage on Sea Urchin IIl (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

7 Sep 2023 by Andy Savage

    Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl

After a week’s family holiday to recharge the batteries and miss the huge Spring tides, we were back at it again yesterday. With nobody having being at sea, it was a blank start, not knowing what areas were working etc.

With a 5.2m tide, it was going to be a mixed day of wrecks and rough ground. Slack water was around midday, so we spent the morning working the rough ground at 5, 7 & 9 miles. The 5 mile ground did us a few Ling, the best going 9lb. We chased around all day for an odd tiny Ling, Whiting, and Pouting. It wasn’t until slack water that a small wreck did a couple more decent fish. Mark Gilbert taking a nice plump 13lb Ling as the biggest of the day.

I believe the problem was that there is too much feed in the water. The Herring and associated spawn is in the water at the moment and we were completely surrounded by Minke Whales, Seals, Dolphins, diving Gannets etc. all day. By contrast, the meagre offerings we presented just couldn’t compete with the all you can eat buffet!

Today I felt we needed a change of plan for Alan and his friends who had the boat booked. We grabbed the Mackerel we needed from the Bell Buoy and then had a quick drift on the 3 mile ground. Nothing had changed and we had the wildlife around us again, so I set off to find an area that had a lot less activity. A smaller tide allowed us to get on some wrecks in the 6 mile stream and we only fished three for the day. The first one wasn’t great, but as soon as we started to lose the flood tide, things kicked in nicely for the rest of the day.

It’s the time of year for “them” and we took anything from 3-7 Ling a drift, with an odd rouge Codling. There were a few decent fish amongst them as well. So Yee Kwok had her first double at just over 10lb but first time sea angler Kelvin stole the show when he hooked what was obviously a decent fish. He played it well and eventually we shuffled a decent Ling which just missed the twenty at 19lb 8oz. How’s your Luck!!

The fresh Mackerel on muppet bait traces really did the job today. Thanks to everyone for a great couple of days back at work. Fantastic to have you on board.

  • 07/09/2023 Fishing Report by Matt Rowe on Piscary (Poole, Dorset)

7 Sep 2023 by Matt Rowe

    Report on-board Piscary

Just 1 match on the boat this week unfortunately the fishing hasn't been that great inshore and the IBAC crew had a disappointing 18 species on the boat ,this is mostly down to the huge numbers of small Bream and Pouting making it difficult to catch anything else. Ray Barron was first on the day with 263 points
    2nd Kim Bowden 165
    3rd Uwe Brown 154.
On the pleasure fishing side when we have managed to get out a bit further there has been some nice Bass,Tope Rays, Congers,Big Bream , Gurnards, Gilthead Bream, Flounder, Bullhuss,Smoothounds,Mullet,Turbot and Brill . There are spaces for individuals coming up on Monday the 11th, Friday the 15th day trip and evening trip for Triggers and Sole. Please text me if you're interested in booking in 07775756269.

    Report on-board Luna-Sea (Merlin)

After a very poor July and August with weather opportunities things are looking up finally. Foreseeable forecast looking good and the fishing is nice and busy. Plenty of Huss, Ray's, Gurnard, Whiting, Dabs and the usual Dogs to keep busy at.
Some availability over the next couple of weeks and with the weather looking great, give us a call and join the fun.

  • 09/2023 Fishing Report by phillip browning on Braveheart II (Wallasea Island, Essex)

    Sep 2023 by phillip browning

    Report on-board Braveheart II

The fishing this last month has been exceptional as traditionally and historically August can be very hit and miss with water temperature peaking towards the end of the month and prolonged high pressure systems, all marine life can become very lethargic punctuated with brief spells of activity. This August was completely different and everything seemed to be on the feed on all but the smallest tides. Weed has been a terrible problem for anglers this year but unfortunately for the best part the fish were where the weed was and anglers had to fish through it frequently reeling in and clearing line and bait of the dreaded stuff but those who persevered had good results.
The month of August has been very good for stingrays as this is the month of you want to add these to your species list. We boated 14 and lost another 5 big fish due to Anglers tackle failure or angler panic, remember its not a race its a marathon with these powerful fish.
There are still one or two good tope around for anglers that want to persevere for them. As we move into autumn i look forward to bass fishing on the sandbanks of the outer Thames estuary where they shoal and fatten up before moving off for the winter.
More than happy to answer any queries

All the best and tight lines

    Phil Browning
