  • 20/02/2015 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

20 Feb 2015 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

The end to the half term holidays finished with two families each with three generations of angler on board ‪Mistress‬ Both regulars with us, we managed put a trip together last minute as a gap in the weather allowed us to get to sea.

It was a very cold, fresh, crisp morning, but by 10am, it was a lovely day with bright sunshine all day, flat seas, what more could you want from a winters day ‪‎uptiding‬ at ‪whitby‬ . a few fish? yeah we well and truly covered that one too!

With, Andy, Phil & Matthew on one side of the boat, and Rich, Mike, Will & Hanry on the other side, both families set about taking a steady picking of fish all day. It was great to see all the family banter between them all, we only had to move a few times through the day to keep us on the action.

The majority of the fish were all in the 2-3lb bracket, a few smaller and a few bigger. As always I try to encourage putting anything back under 40cm unless its gut hooked, and the lads did a sterling job with the catch and release effort.

With a count up of around 70 codlings for the day the lads were all as pleased as punch with their day at sea. well done men!

If you fancy a trip with us, give me a call on 07977 436903, Tight Lines, Rich

  • 17/02/2015 Fishing Report by Andrew McFarlane on Katie Ann (Weymouth, Dorset)

17 Feb 2015 by Andrew McFarlane

    Report on-board Katie Ann

This was the Blandford SAC's first of many trips aboard Katie Ann this year and what a great trip it was. The weather was surprisingly good considering the forecast, and Paul turned up trumps with his first chosen wreck. We were happy to stay on the same wreck all day with everyone catching fish. When we did eventually move it was to an inshore wreck where Paul gutted and filleted the fish.

Once again, thank you Paul for another excellent and enjoyable days fishing.

  • 15/02/2015 Fishing Report by jon old on High Flyer 2 (Great Yarmouth, Norfolk)

15 Feb 2015 by jon old

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Firstly must apoligise for lack of reports mainly down to the amount of cancelled trips due to this lovely english weather plus our millions of sprats making fishing impossible when we have got out . Change in the weather this weekend lost yesterday being Saturday 14th Valentines day as Gale Force 8 Fri was way too lumpy but managed a day with light easterly with surprising result. The old saying wind in east fish bite least was in my mind as we headed out so decided with weak tides to try in 100 ft of water a mark which is one of our banks on about the 4 mile from harbour. We had a our first fish of the day about a 4 lb cod few missed bites but in typical east wind quite a bit of rocking going on not too good for certain stomachs! Decided to be nice and headed closer in after a while just off Lowestoft front caught few more codling there nice fish around 3/4lb mark in prime condition. At slack headed back north to the mud ground hoping for some flatties to break the boredam till tide flooded but not a single one! Only one whiting today very strange. Ended up with over 20 plus cod picture here with keepers , big thanks to Bill for organising the trip again, thanks for washing down as well lads much appreciated. Looks like the big sprat shoals have nearly gone so hopefully get back to some normality, looking to get few decent fish soon as they must be there only time will tell. Will be trying the offshore banks weather and tide allowing , also our new brochure is out and printed should you wish a copy please email name and address or text will get one of to you. Until then tight lines everyone. Jon (High Flyer)

  • 15/02/2015 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

15 Feb 2015 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

    Sunday 15th Feb.
Even though the forecast was looking a liitle bit dodgy, after giving the weather charts some study there looked to be a window of opportunity Sunday morning. so, as I always do if I'm a bit unsure, I give the lads the 50/50 option, so its up to them to make the trip if they want to, but if they dont, they dont lose their deposit.

Needless to say most of the lads jumped at the opportunity to get to sea. as it was we managed to get the morning before it deteriorated and we came in. The tide was a bit on the small side and there wasnt much when we got out, we still managed fish from every mark we fished though.

It was hard work, BUT everybody caught codlings, The lads chose to throw a lot of the fish back even though they were size, which is really encouraging to see anglers acting responsibly preserving future sport for us.
We counted up what we had caught through the morning and we finished with between 25 & 30 codlings.

The sport was a little slow but if we'd got the day in we may have doubled that. we got photos of a few of the better fish we had which may have pushed 4lb.

All in all not a bad morning in great company,

We are starting to fill the diary for the summer already folks, I really would recommend booking early to avoid disappointment, if you fancy a trip out of ‪#whitby‬ give us a call on 07977 436903.
    Tight Lines, Rich

  • 15/02/2015 Fishing Report by LESTER BAKER on Seawatch1 (Brightlingsea, Essex)

15 Feb 2015 by LESTER BAKER

    Report on-board Seawatch1

It's a couple of months since my last report and after an excellent start to the new year with some good catches of codling we had a some large shoals of spats show up in the Thames estuary and the codling gorged themselves for a two weeks, consequently they ignored our baits and we had a few quiet trips. However the spats seem to have dispersed a bit now and with the weather being kind to us we have had a few good trips with up to ninety codling up to four pound being caught in a day and one or two Thornbacks to double figures.
All in all it looks like things are shaping up for some very good spring fishing,so if you want to fill the freezer and have some fun at the same time give me a call.
    All the best Lester
