Report on-board Discovery
Three Tuns Angling Club,
We left the marina 9am and gave the lads two options do you want quantity or quality Gary explained that we had not had a double figure Cod this year and that if it was his choice, we would go for the bigger fish the lads agreed. Some had there own gear with them and some had opted for Discoverys selection of rods and reels from Daiwa ,to make it easy for us to assist in baiting they would all use our rigs, which meant we could have baits ready for them.we set the anchor and started fishing with plenty in the in the 3lbs mark with Whiting and Dabs in abundance then there was a cheer when Graham Fletcher hooked into and landed a 7lb 8oz Cod the usual 3lbs codling where steady in coming, then Richard Pope aged 72 hooked into and landed a fish of a lifetime a 19bs cod which is most likely the biggest out of the river for several years. well done ladsView Boats Page

Report on-board High Flyer 2
Well today was the hardest day i,ve had for months on the High Flyer, i spent half the night down on the Quay watching the rising tide as a huge surge was reported making its way down the coast over a meter higher than predicted, high water was 11pm last night . The boats all along the quay getting higher , anxious fisherman watching ,tying extra buffs on, lengthening mooring lines was all go. After midnight water got to about 2ft from coming over the wall not like last years when we all got flooded reminders of 1953! The downside for us on Sundays fishing was extremley hard tons of weed, plastic bags and various toiletry items on the lines 5 mins after casting was a nightmare! Moved right close inshore to escape helped but still not great. Ended up with only about 4 codling and few small whiting nothing else, much the same for the other boats even lads down the coast further south phoning up complaining of same problems. Would like to thank first timers on the boat Barry and his group sorry to have come on such a day being first time as well, plus the strong westerly, have known better days! Also john for doing a report of the day much appreciated. We didnt bother with any pictures today so thought i would leave you with a picture emailed to me some time ago, i wonder what breaking strain line was used, see what you reckon!! Till next time, tight lines everyone. Jon,

Report on-board High Flyer 2
went out on the high flyer sunday 11/01/2015 day before there was a massive surge on the yare so we got out there and it was hard going only a few codling and whiting showed only one keeper for the day for me we all put it down to the adverse weather wind really rising and the ensueing surge on the yare had obviously put the fish of the feed for the day good set of lads for the day the usual good banter for what turned out to be a bad day for the flyer very unusual for jon better luck next time mate it cant all be plain sailing everyday

Report on-board Mistress
Monday 5th Jan.
We started the year off with a bang again this year, we only had three lads fishing but we took a steady picking all day resulting in between 60 & 70 Cod for the lads. lets hope its the sign of things to come!
They weren't greedy and returned a lot of in size fish. Its always great to see responsible conservation minded anglers on board!
Nothing big, most were in the 2-4lb bracket with a few pushing maybe 6lb

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)
Jan 2015 by Scott Belbin
Report on-board Galloper
The new year is well underway already and Christmas almost seems a distant memory. We were lucky enough to get out several times over the Christmas period and with some great results too. we took advantage of the blackwater estuaries shelter on several occasions and the river is still producing well with numbers of codling coming out along with whiting and some nice roker too. we managed an offshore trip too with the odd nice fish knocking about. The dogfish were a pain at times as is often the case but there were one or two better fish about as well. Les king did the best by far starting with a nice cod of 14.15lbs followed by a couple of smaller ones soon after. This is a good fish compared to the general stamp in our area this year and a decent fish by anybody’s standards I’m sure. I wouldn’t expect one this size every time but its nice to know they’re out there. Inshore the fishing has been great with general numbers around 30-50 a day. This is mostly codling in the 16-18 inch bracket with a few smaller and the odd bigger one. Some days have fished very well indeed when everything goes right. One trip last week was with just 4 lads fishing 6 rods and we totalled around 80 codling, a few whiting and 4 roker for the day. The stamp was great with just one or two under 16 inches and the majority 3lbs or more! One lucky angler had getting on for 50 himself. Thankfully the lads are fishing in a really responsible manour keeping the odd one or two for the table and letting most go. We had another trip with even better numbers coming out although there were a few smaller ones mixed in too that day. The numbers crept up steadily and before we knew it we were staying a little later to try and make the hundred. Unfortunately the tide died along with the fishing but we had 97 for the day and my best numbers for a few years now. These fish may not be monsters but they truly are great fun on light up tide gear. I wouldn’t expect these numbers every trip although its hard not to get spoiled when its fishing that well. i don’t know how long these fish will hang around for. If we are lucky then they could be here until April but who knows and when they go we should see the roker move in anyway.
I have updated my available dates for this year along with all of my offshore trips. If you are after specific tides such as offshore trips may require I would advise you book well in advance as booking are on a ‘first come first served’ basis. I update my website and facebook pages regularly with reports and pictures.
