Here's a very quick update/report. Pictured is Lee Tovell who fished the Western Solent along with his two sons, on White Maiden, on Saturday. The North West F5 was 45 degrees to the ebbing tide and off the main land, although cold, it made for a very comfortable day. Cod were the main target and the best boated was a Codling of 3lb 8oz along with a Bass of 4lb. There were plenty of small Whiting and Pout. Along with other Codling the catch was similar to the day before, although less Codling. Again the flood tide went quiet as it has for the whole week. But that was only for the last hour.

With conditions as such that we cant get off we have been keeping inshore off Corton all week all the partys were advised of this but there is plenty of fish to be had all though they might be a bit on the small side it is good that we have some where to go when conditions stop us getting off with 4 trips fished there this week the total amount of fish was incredible,Tuesday just me and Andrew on his boat 50 Cod with 35 take home,Thursday 64 Cod for the party with 47 take home,Friday 39 Cod and 25 take home,Saturday 40 Cod this party had a weight competition 45lb of fish,a total of 240 Cod,these fish just keep coming there must be such an abundance of food down there but we did find over the week there were plenty of sprats in the bellies when gutted,well done all you boys and look forward to seeing you all in the new year,Brian

Windy old day today but right direction from the west, only handfull of boats out, conditions only allowing inshore fishing once again! Pity really as been trying to get a bit of distance to see whats about but same old weather pattern seems just to be at weekends! Lads on today from up lincs, appreciate you coming fair way , least the day was comfortable and for once we seemed to be without the whiting. Not so many for us today thank god, the weed at times was a pain but always is this time of year. Alot of small codling were put back, the keepers here pictured average out between 2 and 3lb best one today was 3 and half only by chris pictured below. Not a single other species today, no pouting, no flatties at all just the codling which we have been very lucky and very grateful for they have stayed around even in this mild weather. Big thanks to all the boys for coming out bit cool at times in the wind, also for helping washing down, and it didnt rain for once! Hoping to go out one more night trip before xmas also looking forward to a calm slot to try on the banks and a very large hole i found around the 7 mile mark worth investigating i think. For all those who have come out on the High Flyer and had a day with us also all the regulars who come whether the fishing is good or bad i really would like to thank you for your support throughout the year, been a hard year at times like the mackerel this year but blessed with lots of skate but thats fishing. We are nearly at the end of another year.
We have still been out fishing on the ground for the Cod and Whiting even though the weather has not been brilliant this winter so far.
We are looking forward to starting the wreck fishing at the end of January for the big Cod and Pollock!

December Monthly Report:
We are coming to the end of another year of fishing from Poole and I think it’s been good all round with every target species turning up in both quality and quantity. The one season that I would say has been slightly slow for us would have been the winter coding, plenty of mixed fish like rays congers and whiting but unfortunately not as many cod as we would have liked so far. This changed last Saturday as Ray Baldwin joined us for the day, he caught the biggest cod of last year weighing in at 28lb 12oz. Using the same tactics, a sliding pennel rig baited with squid, cuttle and lug worm, Ray produced the goods again with a mammoth 33lber which put up a tremendous fight. Being the first angler to land a 30lb plus cod this winter has earned Ray a free trip to Cherbourg next year and in the process redeemed our end to the year. As I mentioned the cod may have been a bit slow but that hasn’t stopped the anglers from hooking into plenty of other fish. It’s unusual to see spur dogs this far inshore at this time of year but they are now making regular appearances, fingers crossed this means we will have plenty of sport when we start fishing for them properly on the offshore banks. It's December and there is still some good fishing on the days between the Blows, this week we managed a few hours on a couple of Marks within spitting distance of the shore first drifting over them before putting the hook down we had been targeting Codling but were rewarded with some very nice Whiting the majority of which were returned to the depths whist a few were kept for the pot. we also managed a few Rays mainly Thornbacks but a undulate put in an appearance at the surface before line snapped (it was light tackle) and away it went. Dogfish put in a brief appearance but were very small. Good days fishing was had by all and the picture shows the skipper does catch even if only Baby Thornback Ray duly returned after the picture to find its Mummy and Daddy.
Don't forget Optimist is afloat and available throughout the winter season Weather permitting of course and a Merry Christmas and Tight Lines for 2015 to all our Anglers, we look forward to welcoming you aboard in 2015 for some good fishing on some marks that are a little bit different from the usual and produce some unexpected results View Boats Page
