Report on-board High Flyer 2
Had a great day out on Saturday the 11th of October with with John on the High Flyer My first time out with the skipper with my Dad. My dad says Jon is one of the best skippers he has been out with and he has been out many times with different skippers from all over the UK . He was helpful and and provided a good flow of drinks chocolate biscuits and top cup a soups,The boat was clean, fast and plenty of space for everyone. We had a steady stream of fish all day. The company and banter was great all day it was a shame that Dave kept having to show Jon what cod looked like!!! A first class day and for sure we will be back again thanks a ton Jon and look forward to next time. If you get the chance book up with Jon you will not be disappointed.

Report on-board Silver Spray II
Brilliant time down at the Lowrance British Cod Championships again this year, many thanks to the West Wight Skippers Association for inviting me. Great bunch of guys on the boat for the 2 days, both of which were fished in the solent due to plenty of south/sou'easterly winds and rain. We were just practicing on day 1 bringing no cod to the boat but we more than made up for it on day 2 with 13 cod hitting the deck. The key seemed to be small lug and squid baits fished on 4/0 hooks on a 3 down rig. We missed out on top boat by one fish, we either came second or third i think, and well done to Clive Webbwho was top angler on Silver Spray II, caught 5 fish today and finished 2nd overall with a total weight of just under 21lb. Roll on next years comp!!

November so far has given us some nice cod with the biggest topping the scales at 22lbs, caught by Tim Burrell of Warsash.

I have never seen so many conger eels inshore, we have had them up to 60lbs.
We have also had many rays and channel whiting.
Winter has now arrived with strong winds and rain, hopefully the jet stream will move soon and we can continue with our winter fishing. -

Report on-board High Flyer 2
Just bringing us up to date most of the charters have been fishing inshore. Main reason is the strong south west winds that just havent seemed to give us a break, Also too warm plenty of small codling about inshore lucky for us, most days producing between fifty and hundred codling of all sizes. I must compliment most of our anglers with conservation in mind for throwing back the codling as it can only help our stocks not much point in taking fish even if there legal size if no meal is involved. Also all the boys returning the female thornbacks well done great to see, as we have had a run of them still few left hoping to get out a bit if we get a reasonable day weather wise. The whiting are plentiful as always the better fish coming on our fresh herring baits also last week a run of very small spotty dogs not sure where they came from but always happy to catch them. Picture of the report is someone taking 5 mins cant name Trevor for legal reasons must be the codling wearing him out! Hoping for a cold spell soon we could really do with it not the odd frost but good few weeks as this should bring the better fish in ,will be doing some distance as and when we can. Our weekends always go first as you can see by the calender i do keep it up to date within the day so generally accurate most evenings should you want a trip. Planning on evening trips put your name forward by text or email will be working out the best dates as we work around slack water so obviously limited days. Well thats me done hope to see you at some point until then tight lines to you all. Jon. High Flyer.

Well the break in the weather gave us the chance to get out and chase some Cod.

There are a lot of them out there at the moment, although they are mainly just sizeable.
The odd better cod is being caught if you can get through the hoppers.
The Roker are also still being caught, along plenty of good sized Whiting, but we wont mention the millions of Leopard sharks. All in all there is some very good sport to be had at the moment so get out there and make the most of it. -

Due to an indifferent weather forecast the planned wrecking trip was changed to a Reef/Bank trip and the anglers were not dissapointed as numerous Congers were caught along with Blonde and Undulate Rays,Tope,Whiting and the usual Pouts and Dogfish. Russell Salmon did particularly well catching lots of Congers and two Blonde Rays.Russell broke two Personal Bests with a 42Ib Conger and a 21Ib 8oz Blonde Ray.Russell was using a Sakuma 4/0 circle hook on a flowing trace with a white muppett and Squid and Mackerel cocktail bait. Paul Garrett from Swansea caught two new species and set Personal Bests with a 13Ib 8oz Undulate and a 20Ib Tope. Garry Braund from Bristol caught his Personal Best Blonde Ray which weighed in at 17Ib 8oz.All the fish were released alive. Russell Salmon is pictured with his PB 21Ib 8oz Blonde Ray.
The Reef/Bank fishing can be really good at this time of year,So Don't Miss Out.
