    Report on-board Ocean Warrior 3

This month the weather has been pretty good to us and we have managed to get a few good trips in.

There have been some good sized Turbot and Brill around, along with some good sized Conger on the wrecks. Andy Matthews had the biggest eel this month at 83lb 6oz, caught on a Mackerel flapper.

They had 100 eels over 2 days of fishing. All the eels were returned to sea alive to give other anglers some good sport fishing and to conserve the stocks of Conger.

There were also some good Black Bream showing on the wrecks with the odd Cod and Ling showing as well.

We are just beginning to find some Cod and Whiting showing on the inshore ground, so throughout October we will move inshore for the winter Cod season.

    Report on-board Gloria B11

HI all you fishing guys and girls out there, have not spoken to you in a long time but I have been very busy. I thought I would just let you know what's catching, it would seem that the summer fishing is coming to the end and the winter fishing is on its way with cod and whiting and skate catches making up the bags. Although the skate have never left us, but the catches have been a lot smaller and smaller smoothhounds are on there way out. What I can say is I have had a good smoothhound season. I think there has been a drop in mature bass with not many double figures and over being caught, this year our best being 11ibs. A good thing for this winter is the codling are on the way I had 7 small codling the other day and they are earlier than last year. Last year they came in October, By the way guys and girls just to let you know I have dropped my prices from the 1st of this month to £350 up to eight persons on a weekend, and £45 for individuals on a week day. deadbait, rods/reels supplied, also snacks, coffee and tea all day long,
    okay that's my lot.

  • 27/09/2014 Fishing Report by Nigel Lihou on Optimist (Brixham, Devon)

27 Sep 2014 by Nigel Lihou

    Report on-board Optimist

Trips over the last few weeks have consisted of mainly half days to the local inshore wrecks where anchoring over the wrecks has proved to be more successful this year than drifting across the wrecks. We have had a variety of species come aboard if you can get through the masses of Pouting there have been Pollack, Silver Whiting, Some large Scad, Bass, and some very large Mackerel. This weekend we had four guys down from Burnley who fancied a run out to the Skerries for some Flatties. Some really good drifts down the seaward edge of the bank produced some good Plaice and large red Gurnards but with two rods out each and one baited up for Ray and Turbot I would have expected to see a couple of these aboard but it was not to be, we still had a good day on the Plaice with one member of the group catching his first ever Flattie. Optimist is staying afloat throughout the winter in the hope that unlike last winter we can get a few days good fishing in, Give us a call to see what's available weather permitting.

  • 28/09/2014 Fishing Report by Bob Marshall on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)

28 Sep 2014 by Bob Marshall

    Report on-board Duke IV

Lots of Skate coming through our area with some onboard getting up to 5 in a day. Taylors group had l3 yesterday along with a nice Hound while todays group found the fishing a little harder ending the day with 3 Skate. The favourite bait remains the herring although many taking small squid baits.
Along with the Skate some nice Whiting and School Bass. The Cod are coming in with lug/squid cocktails the bait of choice.
The warm weather is keeping the water temps high for this time of year although. The mackerel seem to have all but left our area now, with herring
starting to show on the sounder, making them a fine bait for most species. Lots of small Codling around this summer so hopefully they will pack on some weight and give us good fishing throughout the winter along with the Skate that stay around all year.
Pic shows Taylors group with a good mixed catch.

    Report on-board Reel Deal

another great day out on reel deal with skipper dan and my good pal nial fisher.started out by heading straight to the 3 mile bank where we had success in our search for blonde ray last trip out.within ten minutes of anchoring I had a lovely pull down and hit into a rather angry conger of about 15lb. a further ten minutes wait and a blonde ray was taking line off my reel...we stayed there for an hour and caught 5 blondes ..4 over 10lb.
we next steamed off to find some clean water in search of tope but couldn't find any.we fished close in near to the waterfall in search of trigger fish until the tide eased enough to get to an oil tanker wreck off foreland.immediately we found conger... I lost an eel of 40lb ish at the net but caught a few more eels and doggies.nial had a couple of large bull huss also.we ended the day off the golf links in search of an early cod but only caught doggies tope and a bonus thornback ray for me.
another fantastic day afloat.the fishing was hard but we caught some quality sized fish.....as usual dan pulled out all the stops to give us a great day again.
