Report on-board Why Worry
Saturday 1st March 2014 saw us at last get a half reasonable day's weather. The guys wanted to get a few Thornback Rays for the freezer. A big tide, not the best for Ray fishing but I have few marks up my sleeve that means we can normally find a few fish and make the fishing a little more comfortable by using the various sandbanks in the Thames Estuary to break the tide a little.

The fishing never disappointed and the guys managed to fill there Freezers after a long winter of wind and more wind! We had around 30 Rays on the boat. Some returned, some kept. -

First time out for more than 3 weeks. Straight out to the whiting ground, the big tides and murky water, they were few and far between with just about 6 keepers. Plan B anchored up as close to a wreck as I dared go, and the lads were straight into conger with Chris reeks landing the first and the biggest of the day a conger well over the 50lb mark the scales decided to die on me. Mike Gray from Wells had his PB a conger in the low 30s , Alan from Okehamton had a battle for half an hour and in the end losing his conger it must have been huge. 9 conger were brought to the boat by 7 anglers. All this rod bending sport and we were less than 5 mile from port. Its a pity we did"ent have a few more whiting for the pan but hey that's fishing. Tight lines and good fishing to you all.

Todays forcast was brilliant very light northerlys decided to do a bit of distance north ended up 12 miles up the coast to a bank, well proven skate hot spot hoping for a early bit of luck. Unfortunately only a spotty dog and dabs played ball there for us. The wind started to be a pain turning east making it lumpy decided to head in anchored up on a old favourite spot of mine caught whiting from the off with few small codling and decent flatty. Moved right back inside the Roads as the wind was blowing totally different to the forcast god knows why they cant get it right nowdays bloody annoying. Still catching under size codling and few keeper whiting, well done to Stephen for releasing sizable codling for another day nice to see a bit of conservation going on, maybe we would all have better sport if we all took a leaf out of his book? The day ended up mainly with small fish probably caught 40 to 50 undersize codling in all plus whiting being the usual pain, a spotty dog and couple of dabs. Big thanks to all the lads for enduring the morning rain and the longish journey out there, didnt take many photos as mostly small fish but pictured here is James Houlder with a cracking pound and half possibly 2 whiting best one of the day. In all not a bad day for this time of year hopefully all these small codling will return end of the year alot bigger and worth catching. Thanks again to Stephen,James,Richard,Matty,Chris Carter and Chris Merrison, Dave ,Shannon champion dab catcher and Chalky.See you all soon. Cheers. Jon. (High Flyer)

A day out with Josh and family headed to a regular mark with hopes of a few codling which had been reported over the past couple of weeks, dropped anchor with a couple of hours of the flood left within a few minutes the first fish was landed a nice sized whiting followed by plenty of undersize codling and a few more whiting until slack water, the ebb started with a few more whiting and the first sizable codling things quietened down as the tide started to race, as the tide started to ease again we had a good flurry of codling to 5lb plenty more smaller ones ending up with 8 sizable codling to 5lb approx 15 undersize a 1lb pouting and half a dozen good whiting a very enjoyable day had by all.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Lead Us

set off at 11 am in glorious sunshine and the sea was like glass. when we got to our first mark of the day and dropped anchor we were greeted by a couple of porpoises passing. fishing was slow to start with then Owen got the first cod of the day, a 2 lb Cod which he decided to return back.
As fishing was slow we decided to move to another spot and we managed to get a few more Cod out all around 3 lb.
Dave Shaw managed to catch his first Codling which was just over 3lb.
it would of been nice to get a few more fish but it was a brilliant day to be out fishing as the weather was great and the company was even better, a great set of lads to fish with.
looking forward in taking you all out again
Nick
