Report on-board Silver Spray II
So that’s the British Cod Championships all finished for another year, unfortunately due to the North-westerly that arrived today the comp was cut down to just the one day. I delivered the boat down to Lymington on Tuesday, as you can see I may have stopped off to have a little look where we might find the cod the next day. Wednesday’s weather was just perfect and my crew fished really well and brought 4 cod to the deck. Including Dave Woods 19lb 5oz which got him 3rd biggest fish overall. His brother John caught all 3 of the other fish and came second overall for combined weight. I was chuffed as nuts to be named Top Skipper for the 2013 Comp with a total weight of fish of 35lb 9oz, which topped the list just 10oz above Eric Elliot of Wight Rebel. Talk about a photo finish, well done to all who fished and many thanks to the West Wight Skippers Association for organising another brilliant competition.

Had a great day out , first time out on yellow fin with Kurt. Ran out of bait despite taking a lot , caught 7 cod , dogfish , whiting pouting , Kurt put us right on the mark . Surrounded by other boats not catching anything , everyone on board were into cod. We had action from when he dropped the anchor to when he pulled it up. Lots of hot coffee and soup , couldn't ask for anything more really , thanks Kurt ill be coming back

Another good day uptiding today.
The boat took between 40 & 50 Codlings to keep, with a few undersize throw backs. Local angler Damien Townsend fished today getting the biggest fish and bag weight on the boat, his fish was tad under 7lb and bag weight just under 22lb.
He took daily 2nd biggest fish, and daily biggest bag netting himself £50 in prize money from our Uptiding Festival.
We also took a very bright Ballan Wrasse today, it only weighed 2lb, but its nice to see different species showing up every now and then. It went back to fight another day!

The fishing will continue to be good as long as we can get to sea, and we will be fishing long after the Uptide competition comes to an end. I will only need a minimum of three anglers to sail, so if youre interested in a trip please drop me a line

I've been on this boat many times but this trip has surpassed any other outings I have had, what a day we had catching Bass! John and Dave were running round like blue a*sed flies netting and boxing up the Bass as we caught them, an all round superb package on FT3 and a group of very happy anglers, highly recommended.

Took Chris and his mates out today off the s/holm hoping for a Skate only Whitings and Dabs the Whitings were in abundance today on both tides with a fish every drop the Cod that we are targeting seem to be a bit elusive on the outer marks but when they do decide to turn up we will not be disappointed hope you enjoyed your day out on short notice I will be in touch as soon as they appear,Brian

Hi lads,
Just a quick note to let you know that I had confirmation today that I could use a mates boat for any work we get from now till our boat is ready in the new year.
I will be focusing primarily on ours for a week or so, getting things prepped for the first of the 2 new engines arriving. After that we can have a crack back out there. If you fancy a run off please feel free to give me a ring. We will as always need a minimum of 4 anglers to sail.

November has at last seen the arrival of large numbers of large whiting and dog fish, these are a bit of fun to catch and are making up for the lack of cod.
We are catching a few cod but nothing like the numbers we would expect this time of year, but fingers crossed they will still show.
Last weekend we had a Post Office competition and caught well over 200 fish with only 1 cod.
Now is the time to get out there, at least the fish are close in and the travel time is minimal giving lots of time to fish.
Fridays are now available as INDIVIDUAL DAYS- I will go out with a minimum of 5 , so treat yourself to a day at sea - Remember ALL bait is included in price. View Boats Page

Conditions were far from perfect with a n/w 4/5 increasing I tucked the boat under the Corton cliffs plenty of Whiting coming aboard but no small cod today lets hope with the coming weeks the Cod season will turn up the goods we had some good dbls last season and right through till June when we had the last Cod of 6lbs that was a turn up when we were fishing for Bass,dont forget the Heaviest Cod Competion has started for your chance to win £100 for a £2.00 entry, last year 13lb4oz took the money we run this to the end of May2014 good luck.

Todays report covers 9/10th of Nov as we didnt bother with any photos from the Sat. We steamed out to a ten mile bank north, reports of blondes from our commercial side, unfortunately on getting to the grounds the weather took a turn for the worse. After a hour we left having caught about a dozen doggies and handful of whiting. Headed inside the Roads again to countless whiting and a few flatties nothing worth shouting about just plenty of small action. On Sun the wind and rain was quite fierce at times keeping us inshore ,determined not to join the other boats at Corton we stayed on the banks outside the Holm ,rather choppy at times, paid off with couple of small skate returned and a nice keeper pictured here with Lukasz from Watton area, thornback of 7.5lb. Ended up with couple of keeper dogs, other small ones returned, few dabs and flounders and too many whiting wish i had a pound for everyone! well done to the lads for braving the conditions it wasnt great but we had fish so who cares.! Many thanks to both parties on the weekend , hope you all enjoyed yourselves.

We locked out of the marina at 4 .15 AM with the boys from Heywood. We laughed with them all day the fishing was superb with plenty of whiting for the table,Dabs and a few cod with the best falling to Gordon Howcroft well done lads see you soon hopefully Gaz
