Report on-board Galloper
There have been some cracking bass coming out lately aboard the Galloper. At times there have been good numbers between both baits and lures depending on conditions. To be honest I’m not sure what the highest numbers have been lately as it all gets a bit hectic when several strings of feathers are full at once but it has certainly been good. There have been some chunky fish showing too with the biggest lately being over 7.8lbs. this all bodes well for our offshore bass trips which we will start next week and continue until the end of November. These can provide some first class sport fishing on both lures and bait using the lightest tackle possible. Im looking forward to grabbing my spinning rod and hurling plenty of metal, plastic and rubber at them over the next few months when ever I can. Please get in touch if you want to join us.

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
What a cracking day out…..with a cracking group of lads. Although it was a good wrecking tide, we had a brisk South Westerly forecast, so I felt there would be limited time on the wrecks (if any).
View Boats Page
I gave the anglers booked on, the option of coming through or not, as some anglers don’t seem to like fishing close in, under the cliffs; which is where we head to when the wind is off land. This affords us some protection from the elements and allow us to fish, when otherwise we would have to cancel a trip. Three lads decided to drop out, so we sailed with seven this morning.
After getting a few Mackerel from the Bell Buoy, we ran south and had a stop on a nice piece of rough ground off Robin Hoods Bay. Baited Hokkai’s were dispatched and we had a couple of Codling each drift, nothing fantastic.
We set off, heading further south, when I noticed the wind had backed off a little. It was an opportunity to have a look on a wreck, so we adjusted course and dropped on one nearby.
The wreck gave us a good few Codling to 5lb on the run into slack water, 2-3 each drift kept things interesting. Muppet traces baited with squid or Mackerel landed them all. After the Flood tide came through, the wind lifted, so we ran back inside to finish the remainder of the day under the cliffs.
It turned out to be a good move, with the area we settled on being very productive for the last three hours. Everyone caught well, with a good stamp of lovely clean 4-6lb Codling. Baited Hokkai’s did plenty of Codling, but Jason Sheilds was the star of the show today, clumping them on Shads. He put together a lovely box of quality Codling and threw back a good few as well.
All in all, it was a brilliant day out and one which I thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks lads.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

Report on-board Braveheart II
A quick report and a few random pics of what's been happening on Braveheart II this last month
View Boats Page
Despite well over a month of relentless stiff north easterly winds the fish were definitely on the feed most trips see good numbers and size over the rails . The beginning of the month saw the crouch open boat comp which had a great turnout of 50 + boats and we were blessed with a perfect weather window well done to all the boats and anglers that took the time out to enter and mark and fils tackle for the organisation, let's hope it goes from strength to strength...Braveheart II came in joint 3rd place in both categories... Longest Bass and Longest Smoothound ! (We had the second Longest Hound last year) i couldn't have tried harder for the boys and was happy we had some really good fish onboard that day and plenty of em finally the wind began to veer round to the south and south west, but the sudden rise in air pressure and sea temperature eased the throttle back slightly for a few trips but this last week or so the fish have been on the feed big time and a few days ago saw 5 hounds on at the same time...4 of which were doubles! Absolute carnage lol unfortunately this weekend and the early part of next week sees the return wind, predominately from the west. A few days off and i can't wait to get back out there again
Tight lines everyone
Thanks to all my customers

The Summer Competition started here at Whitby last Saturday.

We’ve been that busy, that this is the first time we’ve had chance to report.
To be honest, last Saturday wasn’t very good at all with a poor catch rate for Brian Cunningham and his team. Around 20 fish boated that’s all.
Sunday was a bad weather day which gave us some time to get caught up with a few jobs on the boat.
Back at it on Monday with Alan Brown and his four mates who chartered the boat for themselves for four days.
Monday, like yesterday was a very “average” day on the water with a fresh WNW breeze which hindered us somewhat with just a handful of fish for each of the lads.
Tuesday and Wednesday however dropped perfectly for the lads and Alan, the two Brians, Steve and Pete enjoyed some cracking fishing with perfect conditions too!
Both days we ran offshore to wrecks out to 28 miles and both days the lads boated well in excess of 70 fish!
No daily prize winners or festival leaders but some lovely Cod to 9lbs and Ling to 12lbs boated.
The lads taking enough fillets with them to last them till the next competition!!
Cheers to everyone who has fished with us so far in this years competition.
A few windy days ahead of us after today, so might get a chance to grab a well deserved drink or two!!
Cheers for now,
Rich

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)
27 Jun 2023 by Scott Belbin
Report on-board Galloper
Our general trips are producing a great mixture of fish at the moment. The main target is often the hard fighting smooth-hounds. These pretty fish are great sport particularly in shallow water where they really pull your string. As well as hounds the bass are always popular as both sport fish and for the table. They can be a little tricky to hook at times but that’s half of the fun. Using worm can really help attract these fish and we have been enjoying great quality and quantities of these fish once again. There are still a few thorn-back rays around too, some of which are ideal for the table, the others provide a welcome bend in the rod. We have also been catching quite a few tope on our general trips as well. Mostly smaller examples than we might expect on our offshore tope trips but they make a welcome addition to our days fishing and with a few reaching 8-10lbs they start to pull your string too.
View Boats Page
Ian Deakin joined us as an individual they other day and had a great mixed bag of fish. there weren’t any giants of anything but he had steady numbers of hounds with a few 8-10lbs, one or two small tope and several sizable bass in between the dogfish. he certainly seemed happy and if he keeps catching like that he is welcome aboard Galloper any time!
