    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

The last 3 days of this years Summer angling festival start tomorrow. With good weather forecast for all 3 days we are hoping to have a crack at the leading fish. The lads on board tomorrow are all seasoned anglers and are well up for it.

Today was a no go for us as I had to attend my Aunts funeral but we will be back at it again tomorrow and will probably be heading out over the horizon again, back to where we've had a couple of monsters on in the last couple of trips.

Hopefully we will have more luck and actually manage to boat one of them this time!!
Good luck to one and all who are entering this years comp.

    Rich.

what cracking weather laterly. out to a lovely mirror flat sea. amongst our guests today was two teenage lads over from Australia. on a short visit to the north east. and his first ever boat trip.
we normally have a fun sweep of £2 each and yes you have guessed it. it is always the first timers who win it.
but what away to do it they ended up with 8 cod and 2 ling between them and david lamb
the biggest of the day a whopping 22lbs 8oz cod. what a cracker .a very well done that young man
ended up with 60 cod and ling for the day.
all week has been really good with every day producing 50-70 or more nice fish, and always a fair few into double figures

  • 07/07/2013 Fishing Report by Malcolm Collins on Just Mary (Christchurch, Dorset)

7 Jul 2013 by Malcolm Collins

    Report on-board Just Mary

An interesting weekend 6th/7th July aboard 'Just Mary' from Poole. My hire rod group had better quality BLACK BREAM plus Pouting, Wrasse, and Mackerel, from a reef to the East of Poole Bay. Baits were mainly ragworm and squid cocktail presented on Skippers own two hook paternoster or flowing rig traces. Groundbaiting, as always when Bream fishing, was the secret to our success. On Sunday my more experienced Anglers had better quantity but a bit less quality Bream plus Mackerel (plenty, plenty and more in our crystal clear Poole Bay waters) Garfish, Wrasse, Gurnard, a single Pout, an unwelcome Tope and a bonus fish in the shape of an UNDULATE RAY of 14lb 8oz for veteran Angler RON HORN. Ron uses an old green 'Milbro' 8 foot boat/pier rod from the 1960's (I know coz my Dad used to have an identical beast), Mitchell 624 and suspicious looking braid which could well be the old 'Dacron'. This was Ron's first ever Undulate Ray on the first ever time that he has fished with me. It fell to fresh Mackerel fillet on a half circle 6/0 hook and flowing trace at slack water right at the end of the day ! Well done Ron !
