Report on-board Spot On!
Spot On was blessed with some summer weather at last and zero winds as we ventured out to the wrecks in search of Cod.
Some really nice specimens landed and some even bigger ones lost as the guys were using very 'sporting' tackle.
As you can see it was another good haul and everyone on board caught some prime summer Cod.
Other species included a small ling, whiting, Pollock and pouting.
Biggest fish fell to fellow charter skipper from Cardiff Steve Jones with a fish of 16lb 8oz.
Still plenty of spaces available on board Spot On out of Brixham Devon for a fraction of the price compared to many other ports that fish these waters.
And in my opinion the home of wreck fishing!
Pictured is a couple of fish taken on the same drift, we again had good numbers and good size of fish.

Here at Hartlepool fishing continues to go from strength to strength out today the only boat out and what a day we had nothing big but plenty of fish in the 2-4 lb bracket with the biggest about 6lb
loads of mackerel coming aboard
A pleasant day out with all the lads catching even with big tides didnt put the fish off biting and a big 4-6ft swell which kept most boats in

Had the pleasure of fishing again with Rich Cope skipper of Mistress out of Whitby.
A short evening competition where the local Charter Skippers Association give there boats for free to raise money for the RNLI resulted in quite a few fish and a a couple of section winners aboard .
Junior and Ladies and if I had bothered to weigh mine possibly a 2nd in the Seniors.
Great night had by all and well done Rich on finding some nice fish.
Following day was the local Forum match and again Rich put us over some decent fish in what had been fairly testing times prior to the 2 events.
Young Jack from Leicester showed the way taking some nice codling and ling and I managed 2nd with a ling just under 9lb.
Rich worked his socks off looking for the fish and making sure every angler spent as much time as possible in the water by helping with sorting the tangles and unhooking fish.

We found where the mackerel are hiding a half hour drift and the lads had well over a 120 in the box
Same every time iv drift the mark. We are having plenty of bass all sizes and crazy amounts of hounds on crab bait ther still good numbers of rokar coming out especially on the fresh mackerel had a few small tope too but if the forecast allows we will be offshore this weekend for them

Had the place to ourselves today, mostly due to the 40mph winds! Lost previous day due to weather becoming ridiculous for this time of year everything is at least a month behind. Had to hide up inshore as strong tides today, within minutes fish coming aboard usual doggies and a lovely surprise for Carl with a sole normally a nocturnal fish nice to see. Moved onto a skate mark to end the flood resulting in just one around 5lb,was hoping to stay for the first run but the wind proved too much so moved again North to hide up. Plenty of dogs again, few flats, on the ebb , had to shift again to our final position the weather knocking us sidewards at anchor! Positioned ourselves in a little alley i found last year proved to pay off with some lovely smoothounds coming in some nice keepers around the 6lb mark average , usual dogs and odd flatty. Was a reasonable day for the conditions well done to the lads few firstimers on High Flyer,thanks for sticking it lads.

Sunday 23rd june 2013, 8 anglers booked a 4hr trip today and took cod from 2 half lbs to 3 half lbs apart from the rain it was a good trip any evey one went home happy, below just a few of the cod caught,

Today we had a team of "newbies" on the boat.
James Astle and his team from Doncaster had never fished from Whitby before ( or ever done any sea fishing before )
We had the boat prepped and all their gear ready for their arrival at 7.0a.m. James asked if I could advise and teach them the ropes which, as always, I did for the beginners.
I sharp had them into shape and on the first mark of the day they were knocking cod and ling out for fun!!
Nothing much taking on the artificials this particular day but plenty on the Hokkai rigs which we tipped off with the squid.
James was asking about the shark fishing we do on the boat and is going to book a trip for them, after seeing the dozens of pictures of past fish we've had. Looking forward to teaching them a bit about that too !!!

We have been seeing some nice fish again here at Whitby during the last month.
We also had our 1st EVER sharking trip after seeing a rather large Porgie swimming by the boat a few weeks back. Although we never landed the shark we hooked up to, we had a good look at it as it rolled on the surface near the boat then stripped some 250 yards of line before parting company with us! it looked to be well over 6ft long! We than had a further 2 runs before setting off for home. The fella who booked is a regular angler with me and has rebooked and is very eager for another go at them next month - watch this space!
The wrecking is throwing out a few better fish and we have seen a few into double figure this month, I think our best fish though is a cracking 8lb cat caught on the 21st of this month. It was the 2nd one caught by us this week. The 8lber is a new Mistress best, Phil the captor wasnt keen to take it home so I Kindly offered to take it!
