Today we had Nigel Hall return to Whitby again after his trip on Saturday. This time he was hunting the sharks.
Nigel was with David Laine, Guy Wrightson and invited guest Derek Wiggins from Leeds.
The chum was running across the ground 27 miles from shore at 08.30.a.m. A nice early start today!!
Slack water passed by 9.0.a.m and at 10.15.a.m we had our first take of the day. Sadly just like yesterday
( 17th ) they seemed to by playing with the baits and not hitting hard like we want and the fish slipped the hook. Guy Wrightson was taking a pee up forward at around 1.0.p.m and the rod next to him suddenly bounced across the hand rails. Another swift snap at the baits but no proper take. Again this was proving to be a frustrating day!!
At 3.0.p.m the closest bait to the boat aft went down, float popped and another fish was on. A mad fish thrashed around on the surface for a few seconds with the bait and within 15 minutes it was boated by Derek Wiggind from Leeds.
This was Dereks first day shark fishing and he was very pleased with his first ever Porbeagle of 60lbs.
Again, small in comprison to last weeks fish, but hey, a sharks a shark!!!!!!! 5 Porbeagle in 3 trips to press!

Whitby RNLI Charity Event
We had a very successful fundraising event again on sunday evening.
A total of £720 raised for a very worthy cause with a combination of competition entry fees and raffle.
On Mistress we managed to get the Top Ladies prize and top Junior prize, missing the overall top place by only a few ounces

weather today as it has been laterly was really nice at sea.
wrecks and hard ground now fishing very good and most days producing fish into double figures.
today seen several double figured fish landed both cod and ling. .with the best two fish going to jimmy Cassidy
with a nice cod of 14pounds and a ling of 12 pounds. with over 50 nice cod and ling landed today,
along with 15-20 mackerel a good wack of coalies to 4-5pounds, and good amount of whities
wont be long now until we are inundated with the mackerel [which are running late this year] but make excellent bait and lovely eating. View Boats Page

Today we had Charlie Woof, Rich and Nathan on board for our second sharking trip of 2013.
We sailed at 6.0a.m and headed for the horizon where all the action was last week!
The chum was over the side by 9.0a.m and at 10.a.m we had our first run of the day which sadly slipped the hook. The next run took place at around 11.a.m and it too slipped the hook!! My god what was happening???
The fish weren't hitting the baits as they normally do but instead were toying with them, chewing them, letting them go and coming back at the boat with them!! They were acting very strange to say the least.
After slack water at 1.0p.m we had yet another run which Charlie managed to hook in to properly
( thank god!! )
A couple of short runs and the fish was visibly within minutes of the hook up. A small Pobeagle coming in at a shade over 60lbs. Not quite the monsters we had last week but Charlie was over the moon as it was his first ever North Sea shark...............a bigger one next trip mate!!
Another enjoyable days fishing on the boat with some top lads.

This evening we held our annual charity fund raising event in aid of the R.N.L.I.
Several boats sailed back out to sea at 5pm for a 3 hour trip to have a go. Some 50+ anglers joined the boats and each donated their £10.00 towards the cause.
We dropped on a wreck 3 miles North of the harbour and picked steady for just over 2 hours. The lads gathering around 20 fish from it.
At 8pm the boats were all safely back along side their berths and the weighing in began.
James Gilpin from Whitby fishing aboard the Shy-Torque took first place with a nice cod of 8lbs.
The event also ran a raffle in the "Fleece" pub afterwards where we raised another £200.00 or so.
Total donation to the R.NL.I. this year was around £720.00.
A big thank you to all who took part this year!!

Well not a bad day on sunday left about 06:45 and headed out to try some wrecks and yet again only disappointment with only one fish on five wrecks and then headed back inside on the ground and managed to finish up with 65 cod and a couple of wrasse at one and a half pound which was nice to see and the biggest cod of around the 8lb mark.

A little late with the last few days reports lads. Sorry but rather busy at the moment!!!
One of my old mates Nigel Hall and his mates joined the boat on Saturday and enjoyed the seemingly improving cod fishing we've all been waiting for here at Whitby.
To be honest the first couple of spots didn't produce much at all but I think this was due, primarily, to the "shabby" conditions first thing.
As the weather settled down towards lunch time the shads and jellies started doing the business on the ground on the 7 mile. A steady 2-3 hours fishing there, giving the lads some good sport with cod to around the 8lb mark.
We still have a couple of days left in July with a few places so give me a ring to grab your places!!

Here at Hartlepool the fishing has took of with a bang with most anglers now taking home a good bag of cod in the 2- 4 lb bracket with a good sprinkling of 7-8 lbers thrown in for good measure

Fished to the north of the town today with a bit of chop in the water it was a good call plenty of Spotty Dogs of all sizes when we started to fish at the back end of the ebb Arron got into the first fish a big Hound coming in at 5lb gave him a good run then Simon had a cracking uptide bite what I thought would be a good sized Bass ended up a 6lb Cod then he followed it up with another Cod a bit smaller then it was Arrons turn again he picked up a 4lb Rooker Gary and Dan were only picking up Spottys so there was plenty of banter then as we were packing up Arron had another big Hound touching 8lb well done you boys and look forward to seeing you all again soon,Brian.
