    Report on-board Great White

Managed to get out onto the Mid Channel Wrecks on Saturday 9th Feb. We were rewarded with a new Boat Record Pollock of 23lb 2oz for Max Everett, Max's fish was one of many Doubles taken on the Day. Rhubarb and Custard Eels seemed to be working well. Stan Raine took a potential Brittish Record Cuckoo Wrasse estimated at around 2lb 8oz - 2lb 12oz+ we'll never know, but we know where it lives !!

    Report on-board Ocean Warrior 3

Well what can i say about Dave and Ocean Warrior 3, the superlatives seem endless. Have always had my large specimen PB's from this boat and some of them have been worthy of anyones fishing career. Dave seems to instictively know where to look out on the wide blue yonder and prides himself on trying to always finding the fish.If the fish aren't feeding, well thats just fishing I guess.Have been out on this boat over a 12 year period and keep coming back for more.I rate dave as a very professional skiper with a very slick 'no nonsense' operation ..'theres fish out there , lets go get them attitude'. Always helpful when you need fishing and boating advice. He caters for both the beginner and 'obsessive' fisherfolk. You tell him what species you want to catch and he'll always give it a go (wind an weather permitting). The boat is a fast and ultra safe one, all safety equipment and professional coded requirements are aboard. He hires out quality tackle for people who dont have their own and want a taster. I can safely say you are in good hands with the boat ,advice and tackle requirements. Please listen to what he says, he knows what he's doing and has been charter shippering for years, with much experience learned the hard way. I would recommend this boat and this skipper to anyone...a thoroughly hard working team.
Nay all your fish be exceptionally large ones. Enjoy. Nick

    Report on-board Ocean Warrior 3

Had a great trip out with Dave on Friday 8th Feb, left the marina at Newhaven at 07.30, cold but calm and sunny, great expectations amonst the crew(9 in total) for some good cod and pollock. Headed east to about 5 miles off Beachy Head then due south for about 20/25 miles, by the time we got to our first drift the wind has risen considerably and the sea was quite lively, but instant success with a nice pollock of around 8lb, this was followed by a nice cod on the next drift of about 10lb. Others were catching pollock also, best lure and the one I always find succesfull is 6inch bloodhead sidewinder sandeel. One of the crew landed a really good 20lb plus cod. All in all a good day, most of the crew landed a few fish, nearly all pollock. I ended up with 5 pollock and 1 cod. Thanks again Dave great boat and great skippering.

The weather has been a little better and we have managed to get out to the deep wrecks for some Cod.

There have been some nice big doubles showing and also some nice sized Pollack.

We are hoping for some settled weather to get back to the deep water wrecks, so if you fancy a day out Cod fishing - the next few weeks should be good so give Dave a call.

  • 02/2013 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Feb 2013 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

Well.... Supanova II is now happily bobbing round in Weymouth after completing sea trials. The home leg of the journey from Portsmouth to Weymouth saw gusting winds in excess of 35knts which is the best part of a gale and she handles absolutely amazingly. Proving what an outstanding platform she is for angling.

The last couple of days has seen the maiden trips out which have both been nothing short of an absolute pleasure. The first trip was for a few friends and family that have helped along the way with Supanova II. The chosen specie was the hard fighting Pollack that inhabit the mid channel wrecks at this time of year.

After a pleasant cruise at 17knts and a little over an hour and a half later we were at our first location and we were into fish from the off, this continued steadily all day with most fish in the 8-14lb range they really put up a good account of themselves. A couple of moves to look for the biggie also produced fish and on the penultimate drift Kevin Turner smashed his PB by over 6lb and landed this cracker of 20lb 2oz (pictured)! Well done Kev!

THe second day was the first trip proper, the fishing was a little slow but a move another 10 miles further on made all the difference, the fishing was crazy and by half one the lads had enough fish for the table so they asked if we could get in early to watch the rugby. We took a steady plod home while crewman Ryan filleted down the fish all ready for the lads tables!

Feb and March really are the best time to bag a big PB Pollack so if you fancy a day on the all new Supanova II get in touch!

Thanks to all again for their continued support to the port.

    Tight lines,

    Lyle

  • 09/02/2013 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

9 Feb 2013 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

We managed our first day at sea today for weeks due to the bad weather.
With us just having had a set of northerlies, plenty of colour in the water and spring tides, we gave the uptiding a shot.

The sport was steady all day with plenty of fish for the lads onboard. the fish were all in the 2lb to 6lb bracket. with around 40 codlings taken all day.

The best rod took in excess of a dozen codlings losing a few too.
The fish were favouring cart today but the lads fishing with worm and squid also took plenty of fish.

Pictured are the lads with a few of their fish
