    Report on-board Hard Labour

with a small set of tides deepwater was the order of the day about 20 or so miles east .the ebb was a bit of a dissapointment really with 2 cod about 8 lb each and a couple of roker. however we decided to stay put and wait for the flood .an hour into the flood and bang it kicked off a couple of cod in the 7 to 8 lb bracket and then a crackin 25 lb fish followed by a regular stream of roker and cod several between 9 and 11.5 lb oh and a 2lb bass and a huge dab finished up with 12 cod 8 roker and 1 bass between five of us interestingly the big cod came on lugworm as did several others.

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Day off today for myself so went fishing!!!!!!!!!! Me and buddy Martin headed out first light , bit lumpy after yesterdays blow but slot in the weather proved ok. Started well with codling coming aboard on the ebb along with the whiting, went through slack today with no flatties at all really strange. On the start of the flood the fish started feeding straight off to our surprise, ended up with 14 cod, and numerous whiting, picture of yours truly with days dinners! thanks to Martin for the company and intellectual conversation, also may i take trhe opportunity to thank all who have supported the High Flyer this year, in coming out fishing and diving without you the buisness wouldnt run. Also may you all have a brilliant christmas and new year best wishes to you all. All the very best . Jon. (High Flyer)

  • 12/2012 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Dec 2012 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

    Hi All,

Very little fishing has taken place lately with the poor weather, a shame really as leading up to the poor spells weather the whiting fishing was hectic and bass too.

Well 2012 is drawing to a close and what a fantastic year it has been. Early on in February and March saw the best Pollack fishing I have seen for quite some time. The best Pollack of the year was caught by Weymouth angler Trad Casey with a cracker of 20lb+. March saw the best Turbot fishing on the Shambles bank in probably 30+ years with many fish over 20lb landed and 1 fish of 30lb!!!! Supanova's best was landed by Mike Elvy from Buckinghamshire and weighed just shy of 19lb.

Then we come to the Plaice fishing, the best anyone can remember ever from Weymouth, from the last day in February to the middle of November the Plaice fishing was nothing short of exceptional, both in quantity and quality. Supanova was very fortunate to have 4 fish in 2012 to grace the decks that weighed 6lb 12oz, didnt quite manage to crack that 7lb barrier but in 2013 it will happen!!

Cod fishing on the wrecks and both inshore was pretty good this has reflected in next june almost fully booked already for next year.

Bream throughout the summer months on its day was superb but this year we seemed to get involved with the Plaice as it proved so reliable!

The reefs and banks for Rays, Tope, Conger, Huss were phenomenal in August and September but i must say I neglected this fishing somewhat this year but have a few more planned for next year thats for sure.

There were some really notable catches in 2012:

Bass 13lb 8oz (Byron Jones, Newport)

Plaice 6lb 12oz (Glenn Knight Southampton, Byron Jones Newport, Tony Hollingberry London, Alf Aylesbury)

    Turbot 19lb (Mike Elvy Aylesbury)

    Brill 8lb (Dangerous Dave Bristol)

    Cod 22lb (Adam Greaves)

Pollack 20lb 4oz (Trad Casey Weymouth)

    Tope 58lb (Paul Morton Yeovil)

    Conger 64lb (John Puddick)

But....................... Fish of the year for 2012 was undoubtedly a Brill of 11lb 2oz landed by Brian Cross in May.
The biggest Brill I have ever seen and likely to be the biggest I ever will see! (pictured)

Thanks to you all who continue to venture to Weymouth and make the port what it is. Can't wait to see you all in 2013 on the all new Supanova II.

Have a great Christmas and fish filled New Year!

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Strong wind and tides today kept us inshore, forcast was pants as usual! Previous trips getting bashed about on the banks hadn,t paid off as cod still not in numbers at present so kept fairly inshore on the 4 mile mark. Whiting and flatties from the start on the first mark, moving further off as the tide eased to a favourite mark that has produced lately still same old fish,no cod. As the ebb started we came back inshore off Tramps, whiting again couldnt be off them. As the other boats left we moved again to prime ground in the Roads still no cod, wasnt no good even though we stayed late, plenty of fish just not what we wanted! Thanks to Dave on his 50th birthday, with Chris , Bobby,Chalky,Simon,Kev,Tony and Steve, few first timers on the Flyer, hope you enjoyed the day, looking forward to seeing you again soon. Picture of Bobby and Chris with few whiting. Thanks lads. Jon.

    Report on-board Cleveland Princess

Chris and his freinds picked a good day for a trip with light winds and a bit of sunshine forcast what more could you ask for,we ran out off the holm sands as this mark has been very good to us in the past but with fishing in general at presant its a bit of a lottery,we had a lot of whiting and Harry latched into a cod of 4lb at the start of the flood that was the only one to come to the boat but that is fishing it seems this pattern is all along the coast, the cod will turn up in force very soon if past years are to go by from my log books, our coast line is changing daily the herring & sprats that the cod feed on this time of year have been staying well off but are now moving inside so get ready iam sure this will happen in the next few weeks, well done you boys have a great xmas and look forward to seeing you all in the new year,Brian/Paul.

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    Tues 18th Dec.

Well, we keep getting windows in this crazy winter weather now and again! Today was another one we pinched.

The last minute booking section on this site proving to be priceless!

I had a number of lads calling me for the trip today and ended up with a boat full after seeing that there was an almost certain chance of sailing.

We made our choice straight from the off and ran out to the 20 mile. First wreck showing very little indeed but the second providing the lads with a lovely showing of cod to around the 8lb mark.

The water is anything but clear at the moment as nearly all the fish fell to the baited rigs, however I did manage one or two on the shads myself!!

Always nice to see the hardy winter lads aboard the boat ( as it is with all customers! ) and up for the challenge!!

Pictured is one of our most regular lads on the boat Mick Long.

    Merry Xmas !!!!

    Rich.

  • 16/12/2012 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

16 Dec 2012 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

We managed to get a trip to sea on Sunday after being tied up alongside for nearly 3 weeks. The weather gods were finally on our side for change!

We went uptiding as we had a bit of breeze from the SW and we had a fairly large tide too.

I had a mixed party onboard of 6, and given the time of year they fished quite well, everyone taking a few fish for the table.

Best angler was Rich from the Boro with 9 Cod to take home which he caught mainly on fresh Lug.
Other baits that produced were, Frozen Lug, Crab Cart, Mussel, Squid, Peeler and cocktails of the said baits.

we finished up with around 35 Cod for the day to take home, we caught Cod, Whiting, Pouting, Lesser Spotted Dogfish and a rogue Dab!

Pictured is Ben from the Boro with his best two fish of the day.
