    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

After a very blustery last few days the lads dropped on a great window in the weather today.

Simon Keech and his family and friends from Stockport joined us and enjoyed a great days cod fishing.

The first stop was on the 9 mile ground where the lads managed a couple of codling around the 4lb mark. Both fish came up on the baited hokkai traces and nothing showed on the artificials, indicating the water clarity wasn't that good. After an hour or so trying different marks on the ground with nothing much coming on board we decided to have a tramp offshore to a couple of wrecks.

We steamed to a wreck 19 miles offshore and picked away at it for around 3 hours until home time.

Some lovely cod coming on board, the best being just under 15lbs. The lads amassing around 50 cod in total. Nearly all the fish came on the artificials showing the water clarity to be fine offshore.

Next weeks tides are very good so keep an eye on the weather throughout the week and give me a ring for a trip.

Pictured (inset) is Mike Upton with the best cod on board today at 14lb 10oz.

    Tight lines

    Rich.

    Report on-board Mistress

Finally a break in the weather after the big northerly. Expectations were running high with the colour of the water like chocolate and the recent shore catches I had an inkling we might be in for a bit of sport today.

We steamed out to one of our local uptiding hotspots, and got the anchor down.
Litterally before I had had chance to bait up one of the lads was already in to a fish.
I got the fish netted and it seemed we couldnt go wrong! everyone was into fish, nothing massive all around the 3lb to 6lb mark.

We carried on until the tide eased and had a couple of moves, catching fish everywhere we stopped. With a hour or two of the day left we had one last move, and glad we did as we seemed to have a steady hour again boating around another dozen fish.

The anglers fished well today with a few different spiecies boated, including a lobster for Steve. The biggest fish of the day was around 7lb in weight, nothing huge but we had plenty of them!

Baits used included squid, black gulley worm, mussel and crab cart.

Pictured are todays lads with a few of their fish

  • 10/2012 Fishing Report by Dave Elliott on Ocean Warrior 3 (Brighton, East Sussex)

    Oct 2012 by Dave Elliott

    Report on-board Ocean Warrior 3

Great catch for inshore Cod fishing - on light gear!!

Andrew Barker wasn't expecting this good sized Conger of 66lb caught while inshore ground fishing!
He had a bit of a fight and some luck on his hands to get it up as he was using 30lb line with a 15lb traceline and a size 2.0 hook! We weighed the eel, took the pictures and returned it to sea alive.

It is our biggest Conger caught this year inshore fishing and an achievement using such light gear.

We have still got spaces mid-week for full/part and individual bookings - you can take a look at the CBUK calendar or www.oceanwarrior3.com or give Dave a call on 07966 377145 for more info.

A big thanks to John on the High Flyer for a great days fishing. Caught plenty of Whiting but the damn Cod were evasive as ever. John is a great skipper taking us to all the spots to make sure fish were caught. Tea and Coffee constantly flowing (needed in the bitter weather). Would definatley recommend a day out fishing on the High Flyer. We will be back next Summer. this time though instead of the Waterproofs we'll be wearing our Speedos and Flipflops!!!! Thanks again John for a great day regards Lee, Wayne and birthday boy Barry..

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Headed out today, lucky slot in the recent weather , tides perfect for us, SW on an ebb flattening the inshore Roads for a reasonably comfortable day even with a strong wind. Apart from the showers and the cold air, we caught plenty whiting, few keepers biggest at 43cm. Only one flattie today down to the full moon and strong tides i reckon, one small pouting to me which i never caught close inshore ever! Big thanks to Lee,Wayne, and birthday boy Barry, pictured middle, from Canvey Island, also lads from Bolton, George,Neil,Paul,Dave and Tony for organizing them. Sorry no cod today guys, still waiting patiently for them, however glad the whiting kept us busy. Thanks for coming out on the High Flyer, safe journey home lads. Jon.
