    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

Sadly the weather today was forecast to be far too inclement to fetch the lads across from the West coast.

A real shame, as the fishing for the lads aboard the boat yesterday was superb yet again. We steamed back out to the "wall" as intended because of the previous 3 days superb fishing. The big Northerly swell we've been experiencing for the last couple of days had eased, however, it did slow things up a little with the clarity not being quite as clear, so it was time to try some different spots in the deeper water.

The first lump of ground released some 40 or so fish and the second piece of ground we tried giving us another 50 plus fish. Ling to just in to double figures and cod going to over 15lbs.

A 50/50 split so far as what caught best yesterday, with the majority of ling falling to the squid, whilst most of the cod fell to the artificial lures.

Here's hoping the weather patterns recover in our favour soon and we can get back at them again!!

Pictured is Steve Bore from Grimsby with the best cod on the boat at 15lbs 4oz.

    Tight lines

    Rich.

  • 10/10/2012 Fishing Report by Gary Flint on Discovery (Liverpool, Merseyside)

10 Oct 2012 by Gary Flint

    Report on-board Discovery

Wednesday 10th October 2012 - Andrew and the Lads from Wigan

We locked out of the marina at 7:30am with 5 anglers on who had booked the whole boat for the day. There was a bit of a breeze but nothing to be bothered about, so we headed up the river to our first mark of the day and dropped the anchor in. It didnt take long for the first fish of the day to be netted in the shape of a 4lb Thornback. A few whiting followed this in and then another thornback of 5lb 7oz. Plenty of whiting and doggies until the first cod of the day was caught by Andrew which was around the 2lb mark. We then decided on a move out of the river.

Once we had anchored, everybody began fishing again. The same as before the doggies and whiting began to show, until another thornback of around 3lb was landed. Some Dabs were caught before we decided to go and try another mark back down the river.

Yet again were got hammered by the doggies and whiting. With some more dabs and a couple more Thornbacks. Andrew sealed the day off with another Cod Just under 2lb.

A good bunch of lads who we will be seeing next month for another trip after Cod.

    Gary

  • 09/10/2012 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

9 Oct 2012 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

A mixed group from all over the place on the boat today. From Durham to Derbyshire.

A rather large Northerly swell greeted us this morning with a light breeze from the North West over it. Not the comfiest of runs out or the best of conditions but again the lads produced the goods!!

Cod, ling and the odd pollock falling to the shads and the fresh squid all day long on the exact same mark as yesterday. Bonus again!!

Polish Daz from Nottingham taking the best ling of the day at 16lb with some nice cod to the 10lb mark as well. He ended up with a nice box of fish for himself.

Les Patrick from Driffield also managed a good box of cod to share amongst the family.

The forecast is looking very good indeed again for tomorrow so hopefully we'll provide the goods again for the lads.

Pictured is Polish Daz from Nottingham with his best 2 cod of the day.
