    Report on-board Irene II

I went out this morning to see what was about. It was a morning tide locking out at 8 o'clock,I only went a short way to the edge of the channel and although there was a good tide flowing I had no trouble holding the bottom with 8 oz weights with grip wires .Catch was 7 whiting and two small codling, It might take a while for the river to get back to normal after all the rain of the last week

We have a few dates left, so give us a call to see what we have available.

    COMPETITION!!!

Anybody catching a cod over 18lb in the mersey aboard Discovery in the winter of 2012 to feb 2013, will get a FREE boat trip, Wreck fishing in 2013. For all of the people on that trip

23 Sep 2012 by Gary Flint

    Report on-board Discovery

JCB Lads from Derby. Sunday 23rd September 12

We locked out of the marina at 6:15am, with the weather forecast giving 5/6 SE, we decided to give the river a go for a couple of hours. A few really good bits missed, and plenty of decent sized whiting. We finally managed to get the first winter codling of the year, which was around the 2lb mark. With this released, we decided to head to another inshore mark. We dropped the anchor again, an straight away the guys were into Thornbacks, Dogfish, Whiting, Dabs etc. We fished here most of the day and made the choice to try the flood in for some cod at another mark. Again plenty of insized whiting, no cod, but still is a bit early.

25 Sep 2012 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

The September angling festival finished on Sunday here at Whitby and what a cracking time the Shy-Torque boys had on the closing days!!

Ben Laws from Whitby taking a 1st daily prize in the last week with a lovely ling of 18lb 12oz .

Then John Wilcock ( winner of more competitions here at Whitby than anyone) took over 1st place on the leader board on the 3rd to last day with a cracking ling of 21lb 5.5oz which, to be honest, we thought was going to be good enough to win the event. We were wrong!

On the penultimate day of the competition Brian Towle from Hull hauled up a belting ling of 23lb 11.5oz from a wreck only 9 miles from shore which took overall 1st place in the event winning him a very nice £1000.00 first prize plus his £50.00 first daily prize. Not a bad days work!!

Yet another competition win for the Shy-Torque!!!

We would like to thank all the anglers who fished aboard the Shy-Torque during this years competitions and hope to see you all again next year hopefully for some more winners!!!!!

Pictured is Brian Towle with his winning fish of 23lb 11.5oz

    Tight lines

  • 25/09/2012 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

25 Sep 2012 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

The Autumn festival has now come to a close this year, the best fish weighed in was just shy of 24lb. Unfortunately on Mistress we missed the top place by just 3lb!!!

Although we didnt get the top prize this year on Mistress, we did get alot of decent fish for our anglers. We entered the festival 10 times throughout this competition (everyday I got to sea), we had many fish in the teens, two great ling just short of 20lb, a few PB's and many lost fish too! (just look at the gallery from the 8th to 23rd Sep)

I would like to thank all the anglers taking part on my boat and others, without your continued support we wouldnt be able to run these popular events. I would also like to thank the weigh masters who did an exellent job in weighing, photographing and reporting each day.

Pictured is Chris Gibson with our heaviest fish of the compeition - A nice Ling of 19lb 12 1/2oz, it won him a daily 1st prize, well done mate

  • 25/09/2012 Fishing Report by John Goldsmith on Sea Leopard (Newhaven, East Sussex)

25 Sep 2012 by John Goldsmith

    Report on-board Sea Leopard

SEA LEOPARD for the last couple of weeks has been fishing for turbot and brill quite out of the norm you might think so did we until we tried it and we had what i can only say as great ,great ,great success quite a shock as we dont normally target them only picking them up by chance when anchored . Over these 2 weeks we have caught 126 turbot and 16 brill quite amazing as we only had 6 in the last 22 years and thats more than the entire newhaven charter fleet added together for that period . I think that some of this down to the new 3d olex system and other info given to us so we will now be spending more time searching for new ground and other types of fish if you would like to go on one of these trips please call john on 07957760063
