12,08,12 CJS TRIP, We tried to blow this trip of the night before due to a bad weather forecast but some had already travelled up the night before, so after some discusions we agreed to take the trip and stay inshore , so we left the marina with a group of lads that had been on the town all night and came straight to the boat 5 slept all day and the other lads slept for a while on and off in the 23 mph wind we did manage to catch some smooth hounds, mackeral, dabs, etc. With the Lads that stayed awake on and off, at one stage i managed to wind all of the lads rods in and leave them in without any one noticing The moral of the story is dont drink to much before a trip and dont stay up late or you will waste your day plenty of pics to follow.

We left the Marina at 7.00am to head out on a species hunt, operating a points system, We tried to head offshore but unfortunately the weather was not kind to us,having got 5 miles from the mark we had selected we decided it would be better to return inshore due to the wind increasing instead of it easing, so we started our competition operating a strict points system, species caught 5 tope only small to 10lb ,8 common smooth hounds to 8lb , 6 starry smooth hounds to 9lb, guarnard, weevers, mackeral only 3 allowed to each competitor al though loads where landed overall winner Martin C 26 points, who landed a 10lb tope in the last 15 minutes, the top 3 where seperated by only 2 points PICTURES TO FOLLOW.

We left the marina at 6.10 am to head offshore, the banter was flying all day we arrived at the first mark to start catching Pouting five at a time, Then we had a nice Ballan wrasse,Tub gurnard, Mackeral , Pollack etc and some nice bull huss,we then moved for some smooth hound fishingwhere we managed to catch a tagged smooth hound which we had not had any tagged smooth hounds before, overall a good day out all though tide a bit small to create much run.

Report on-board High Flyer 2
Had a day out wreck fishing on High Flyer. We knew it was going to be hard work as this year has not been very good for wrecking. First time on this boat with Jon Old the skipper who I must say realy looks after you and tries his hardest to find you some fish. He made tea and coffee all day bacon rolls for lunch with chocolate bars coming out in the afternoon. All I can say now is a nice boat with a very good skipper and I would recommend him very highly.

Report on-board High Flyer 2
Wrecking today headed North, the cod have been very illusive this year didnt know what to expect. The viz playing havoc this year. First wreck an old favourite proved ok few fish coming aboard, plenty of mackerel most of the day. Few gurnard, odd weaver and flatties, pesky pouting and one ling! Tried few other wrecks and returned to our favourite resulting in Rob with biggest cod of the day just short of ten pounds. Big thanks to Trevor for organizing the lads, Rob,Steve,Joe, Bo and Kevin,Steve and Rodger,Billy and Adi. Think we done ok really, sorry about getting home late as usual, hope you lads enjoyed it. Many thanks. Jon.

Report on-board Shy-Torque III
The neap tides here at Whitby this last few days have produced some good fishing indeed. The cod have been a little elusive at times, however when we have come across them we have been landing some quality fish to just short of 12lbs.

Sadly the wind has drawn round to the South Easterly quarter again and has hindered us big time!! Looks like it's stuck there for a couple of days too :-(((((
Pictured is Rich Priest from Lancaster with a nice cod of 11lb 8oz.
More reports when it calms a bit.

This week has again seen some good days angling aboard the boat.

Yesterday another mixed group joined us from Lancaster Leeds and Halifax. A fairly slow start to the day but by dinner time we were seeing some good quality fish coming aboard.
Rich Priest from Lancaster found the best cod of the day at 11.5lbs and his mate Billy Tennant from Lancaster had the best ling of the day at 14.5lbs which was his PB.
Great company as usual. A really enjoyable day.
Pictured is Billy with his ling.
