AUGUST 2012 - Howard Butterwoth age 48 from Sussex became another angler to catch a Personal Best plaice aboard Flamer IV.Howard landed a Plaice weighing 5Ib 14oz using 10Ib class tackle with a two hook flatty trace that had lots of coloured beads on.The successful bait was ragworm and Ammo squid strip.Howard is pictured with his PB plaice.

AUGFUST 2012 - John Bird age 65 from Eastbourne,Sussex beacame another angler to catch a Personal Best plaice aboard Flamer IV.John landed a 5 pounder on 10Ib class tackle with the successful bait being ragworm and squid strip presented on a two hook flatty trace that had lots of coloured attractor beads on.John is pictured with his PB Plaice.

Full boat of 12 a crackin forcast but small tide so headed out at 20 knots to a deep water wreck droped the hook got the tea poored and one of the blokes said he was snaged on the wreck i felt the rod and it was no snag he had a 13lb skate to bring up lol then came some more skate some doggys then the bass moved in 2 at the 5lb mark and a few at the 1.5lb 2lb and not forgetting the plenty of hounds comming aboard showin around 7lb lovley day shame the wether held my party back today as they wernt keen on the force 5-6 but tally of the day 6 bass 5 skate 10 or so hounds

Once again the cod fishing today very good for the lads some really quality fish he best today fell to jim smith with this 16lb cod the lads had quite a few doubles betrween them plus many more a cracking day for all.

The fishing here at Ramsgate just gets better with Hiendricks crew over from Belgium on a 5 day fishing stint aboard Duke IV. Jules a lively 78 year old started the fish feast with a couple of nice Bass on live whiting, Heindrick followed with a larger fish on a similar rig. After landing a few more and losing a few we moved out to have a go for the Skate using the fresh mackerel we had feathered earlier. We managed a couple of fish fairly quickly. The crew had opted for a 6 hr day and just before anchor up the guy fishing the stern hooked into a serious Bass that led him a merry dance that ended when the hook length parted just before we could get the net under the double figure fish!

Back home from my holidays now after 3 weeks away, was hoping the weather had improved.. it hasn't. Got both Saturday and Sunday in and had a mixed bag of results. The weed proved a problem in my usual marks so had to move around a lot to avoid it, but the fish came in reasonable numbers. Double figure fish came both days with some very nice skate and hounds.

Another cracking days fishing aboard the boat today with a mixed group of lads from as far afield as Chesterfield and Newcastle.
The day started with some hectic mackerel fishing at the bell. Enough to supply the bait rigs all day long after just one drift!! Good to see the bait flying on board as quickly as that again. Long may it last.
We started the bottom fishing on a patch of ground just 4 miles East of the piers with a good start. Five fish to 10lb on the first drift. Sadly each drift after that went downhill as the tide strengthened and the drift was up to 1.7 knots.
After a little deliberation we decided to have a very steady steam to a group of wrecks some 14 miles off shore giving the tide time to slow a bit. Bingo!! With a good load of mackerel processed for the kill on the bait traces we started hammering the fish out. Granted, 80% were of the ling variety but what a cracking 3 hours sport with fish to just over 14lbs. Pete Tamms from Leeds did have what looked like a belting fish on but sadly lost it!! Ah well maybe to be captured by tomorrows team.

Today we had a mixed party of lads, some novices thrown into the group too.
we started out ta the bell bouy jigging mackerel for bait, seeing as we're on neap tides again wrecking was the order of the day. Plenty of mackerel about so two drifts saw us with enough bait to get started.
We were rifting quite quickly to start with so fishing was slow, as soon as the drift slowed a point or two of a knot the fish came on to feed!
The fishing wasnt hectic today, but we saw some nice fish non the less.
the biggest Ling was 15lb, Cod to 10lb. we had a number of Ling over 10lb again today.
We had a young novice, Peter, with us today he caught a couple of really nice fish to take hoem the best being a Ling around 7lb in weight, dad was pleased as punch, its always good to see the youngsters getting amoungst the fish! well done mate.
