    Report on-board Ocean explorer

We had a great days fishing today 24/5/2012 with a great bunch of friends who I think all caught some fish ,
The best catch went to David who had a good run of cod most the day , with Jimmy catching some good size cod ,and Geoff was busy catching whities most of the day ,
Lee (skipper) did rather well with some good cod , but not with his new orange pirk on this ocasion,
A lot of the cod caught were caught on shads , but a few were caught on the good old Muppets .
Mackerel were scarce for most of the day , with only a few being caught early morning.
Lee (skipper)did exceptionally well to put us on the fish .
There were a few ling caught , with the biggest of only 6lb going to myself Brian (Pestguard) , which in all fairness was a fluke catch ...........................not that I told anyone at the time .
All in all a excellent days fishing was had by all .
    Many thanks Lee.

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

South Yorkshire's Barnsley Fire Crew joined us today on the first of their 3 trips booked this year.
The fish were a bit patchy at first so we moved further off shore and found a few fish on a couple of wrecks. Not enough to keep us going though so we decide to target some wrecks closer to shore. The best wreck producing a dozen or so nice cod to 10lbs.

A fantastic day weather wise here at Whitby today. Lets all hope this is the start of Summer????????????

Pictured is organiser Paul Deardon with a nice 10lb cod caught on a blue Sidewinder.

    Report on-board Spot On!

Lily Lola was out wrecking this weekend on saturday the 19th and sunday 20th May 2012.

Saturday started off well with some good cod to 16lb.
As the tide slackened we were greeted with 2 ling, lots of pout and some nice channel whiting.

We ended the day finding a wreck with lots of pollack on it with the biggest being 10lb.

Sunday saw the 'Western Power' boys first ever sea fishing trip and we were greeted with some great sport from Pollack and many fish being caught on each drift, later in the day saw the Cod come on the feed and everyone caught some fish and some losing many others as they were getting a bit excited when hooking into them.

I would just like to say thanks to both groups for being a laugh and making the gorgeous sunny day more fun.

Hope to see you all very soon.

  • 19/05/2012 Fishing Report by carl porter on Hard Labour (Wallasea Island, Essex)

19 May 2012 by carl porter

    Report on-board Hard Labour

Saturday morning saw us leaving the mooring at the normal time, with an improving forecast the offshore banks and bass being the quarry. After just over an hour and 20 steam, the pick was set and 8 rods were in the drink quick smart. Half an hour passed and nothing but doggies to grace the deck, had we made the right move? 10 mins later and a bass, not big about 1.5 lb, back it went. Over the next hour and half the fishing was slow managing only 3 or 4 bass, 2 keepers biggest about 4 lb. Decision was made by the crew to try a different bank that fished well earlier in the year. Half an hour steam further out we set the pick again. On the way to this mark there were a lot of mid water marks, mackerel? Down went a set of feathers and within seconds a full string. Baited with fresh mackies the guys set about the fishing again. Plenty of fun ensued with Roker playing there part. The worm produced bass but not in the numbers of the last couple of weeks. End of the day there were about 70 or so mackerel, 10 Roker to about 9 lb and 4 keeper bass.

Sunday saw us implementing plan B. Forecast was not promising but we could find a bit of protection with the wind direction as it was. Not a million miles away from the muddy puddle we set the hook in 20 ft and set about it. Now today we had a full 10 on the boat and they fished 2 rods each. The boat looked like a porcupine, but in fairness for the amount of rods that were out, tangles were fairly minimal. we fished the flood with a couple of moves up the bank to follow the fish, thinking what to do (where to hide) on the ebb. The way it turned out we could of gone banging offshore again.the winds eased as the ebb got going and the thought crossed our mind to push out another couple of miles but as the fishing was ok, not fast and furious, but stay we decided to stick it outin the area. At the end of a fairly tricky day where the crew fished hard, they ended up with about 15 Roker a few doggies, a dab, loads of whiting, 2 starfish, 4 Whelks and one sailors Arsehole. Not a bad day considering the forecast.
