The lads come every year on various boats. What a cracking bunch of guys and some good anglers too.
Over the three days the lads managed to boat many different species including Bass, Bream, Turbot, Brill, Plaice, Cod, Conger, Huss, Red and Tub Gurnard, Ballan and Cuckoo Wrasse, Pollack but much to scarfeys dismay NO grey Gurnard!!!
It seems as though the wind has improved all the fishing, long may it continue!
Tight lines chaps! -

Fishing Report by Peter Hughes
on Discovery (Liverpool, Merseyside)

Report on-board Discovery
Hello Gary and Daz, as promised we were back again to try our hand at deep sea fishing. This time based in the Mersey. We had the added entertainment of the power boat championships and a four plane aerial display team keeping us amused. As usual Gary and Daz had everything ready for us including baits and rigs, and with the historic skyline in view, set out to catch. Fishing was slow at first but began to pick up as Gary plumbed the depths of his experience to keep us going in difficult conditions. Hot tea and pies cooked up by the skipper kept coming and so did the fish as various Rays and dogfish were landed.

Hi guys
View Boats Page
The fishing is still busy at the moment out there in the thames estuary with some good catches of thornback rays and some nice bass.
The whitings have now made an apperance and loads of dogfish so winter must around the corner.
I have also heard of 1 or 2 codlings being caught not to far away so fingers crossed we will have a good season.
I still have a few weekend dates in my book left so if you want to get in on the action please give me a call.
I do individual days every so often on a weekend so if you would like to get on one of these then just send me your mobile number or an email and i can email you when ever one comes up.
All the best steve -

Report on-board Rapid Fisher
Although the forecast was for clear skies & light winds the weather gods obviously didn't listen to the met office!!!! Rapid Fisher left the harbour with 9 hardy souls on board looking for that "something special".

After about an hour we had only managed to get a dozen mackerel so rather than waste more time we threw the hook in at our chosen spot. After a couple of demonstrations by yours truly & Alex (skipper of Predator II) on how to mount the perfect bait all lines were lowered into the water. After 10 minutes a tell tale nod was seen on one of the rods. Keen to show his best Robson Green impression, Baggy, struck into the fish far too early resulting in nothing more than spoiling a free dinner for Mr Ray!!!
After several more missed bites and the mackerel running low we headed to another mark. Alex changed all the rigs over to small hooks & showed everyone how to bait the worm onto the hook. A few small wrasse were caught but we decided to try and drift between the piers for some plaice.
After arriving at the chosen spot Alex managed to get a rod in the water bait with a nice juicy ragworm. It wasn't long before the cry of "net" was heard and a nice trigger fish came to the surface. After a quick picture the fish was returned and the hook rebaited. Again a cry for the net was shouted and sure enough Alex had another trigger!
After rebaiting everyones hooks more crys for the net were heard around the boat and after 10 hectic minutes a total of 6 trigger fish was boated. All fish were returned after a quick photo. Pictured here is Alex with the biggest of the day. -
