Report on-board Duke IV
The weather eased over the weekend and we managed another trip to the wrecks off Ramsgate and although the fishing was tough with fewer fish being landed Brians crew from North London landed a fair number of quality Cod and Pollack.

We stopped on the Falls bank on the way home and our efforts were rewarded with some tasty Mackerel and launce. The wind soon though picked up and our hours bottom fishing was difficult in the building seas.
Inshore fishing has generally been good with plenty of fish to catch with a few School Bass, Whiting, the odd Skate and Smoothound along with of course the inevitable Doggies.
With autumn now upon us we will see the Bass and Hounds moving out of the Thames Estuary and the Cod moving inshore from the wrecks to feed on the crabs and small whiting, so although the fishing can be a bit hit or miss as expected at this time of year there is always the chance of being in the right place at the right time and bagging up.
Don't forget the individual days each thursday on Duke IV if you can't get a crew together! -

Report on-board Skerry Belle
As you can see with the settled weather we've been having, the fishing is going from strength to strength. We seem to be hitting personal best Bass on every trip at the moment and with double figure hounds showing between the Bass it doesn't get much better!! Still plenty of mackerel showing so no expensive bait needed for a great day afloat as a large box of squid will easily be enough for 4 anglers. Also getting Bass on feathers on inshore wrecks as the water is still clear. All these fish have been caught around the Goodwin Sands which will give you a good 7 hours fishing in an 8 hour trip! The evening trips have ceased due to the shorter nights but will start up again in May. Now starting to take bookings for Cod fishing from October onwards ( but be quick to book as we had fish to over 20lb last year) Hope to see you all soon.

28/08/11 A 5--6 south/westerly blowing so we are a bit restricted to where we can fish so we headed off to the corton bank bit slow to begin with we had a few s/hounds to 5lb with phill landing the biggest , Mark lost a big s/hound it went well to the back of the boat on the tide but came off before we could get the net to it, plenty of small dogs and a few yting for good measure, its a shame about the weather as we would have liked to get to some of our more favorite marks see you all soon,Brian/Paul.

had a great day fishing to day, we left mersea about 7:10 in the morning a we steamed out for about an hour, trying to get to a mark about 20 miles out of mersea, as we go a little way out the sea became a little bit lumpy so we could not get to the mark the skipper wanted to. so we went to another mark which was just on the side of a sand bank. at first as the tide started runing we were only getting doggys but after about half hour we started to getsome little tope and smoothhound pups and a couple of whiting and i had a 6lb male thornback.then the tide slakened off and the boat was swinging around and we did not get much. but when the tide picked up again we had 2 bass about 3/4lb some more whiting and little tope and we started getting some nice smoothhounds, then it went quiet agian for some unknown reason and on the last cast of the day i had a 16lb smoothhound :) what a fish and a great day fishing , in the end we had 30 dogs 5 whiting 5 small tope 2 nice bass and about 10 smoothhounds at all different sizes and 1 thornback
thanks stuart and dave
