    Report on-board Eastern Promise 2

    Cod are showing !!!!!!!!!!
    7 Anglers on the boat.
Fishing was almost non stop because of the huge numbers of small whiting also doggies shed loads of doggies.
Fish kept for the pot included 2 Cod, 3 Thornback’s, 4 or 5 of the larger Whiting & about a dozen of the bigger Dogfish.
I know they are hard work but if you remove the bone from Dogfish cut into chunks and arrange on a plate and grill for a few minutes then pour over a cheese sauce and return to the grill until the sauce starts to brown you might view these fish differently.

    Thanks Derek

The lads yesterday booked a days wrecking as they had never been before. things got off to a slow start but picked up through the day after a bit of guidance. The wreck we finished on really started fishing well on the last few drifts but we had to leave it to get in. We ended up with Ling to 15lb again, Cod to 7lb and a few pollack too.

  • 13/10/2010 Fishing Report by Pete Rose on Sea Urchin IIl (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

13 Oct 2010 by Pete Rose

    Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl

Had a fantastic day out on the distant wrecks yesterday with a group of regular lads from Manchester who wanted to target cod as apposed to ling which was forming forming the biggest part of the inshore fishing of late so I decided to steam off with the forecast half decent and a 2.5 hour journey either way this is always a gamble but the lads knew the pitfalls and were happy to sacrifice fishing time in the hope of a jackpot,

the anticipation was evident with all the lads having just traveled on a two hour trip from Manchester then another two hours plus on top I was really hoping there journey was going to be worth the wait, as the wrecks grew closer land was only just visible and the sea was threatening a change with fresh northerlies getting fresher this was either going to be sh*;;”t or bust,

as I run over the wreck I could see a huge feed mark which can be a good sign but alas not always the only way we would know if I had made the right choice was to get the lines down to the bottom first drift the lads were taken completely by surprise all the rods were in before they hit the bottom some had shads some were on the jigger some on hokias didn’t matter there were so many fish down there every hook was taken on every drop, after the first three drifts I asked the lads on the hokias to change on to a single hook it was taking an age to pull fish up with huge cod on every hook, they agreed and all switched to mainly shads of different colours drift after drift saw a fantastic stamp of cod mostly in the 8 to 10lb range with the best at 16lb with enough fish for the table we decided enough was enough and left what must have been hundreds of cod below us for another day and headed home on the long journey with a stiff northerly breeze behind us the trip was slightly faster by 10 minuets and we were back in town by 4pm,

a day to remember and all the lads agreed they had not witnessed cod fishing like that ever and a few p.b. were broken in the process

this proved to be a jackpot day which could just as easily been a disaster Whitby will continue to produce the goods for anglers prepared to try alternative trips in my opinion

the uptide season is just around the corner with heaps of juvenile cod showing this summer the prospects of a good season look promising

Given the large tides, we had a great day wreck fishing. We drifted using jellyworms until the tide eased allowing us to drop our bait rigs down fishing with mackerel and squid. everybody had a great day with Ling to 15lb, Cod to 7lb and Pollack to 7lb. Other fish included in the catch were, Whiting, Pouting, Poor Cod, Coalie and Mackerel.

  • 10/2010 Fishing Report by Paul Fitch on She Likes It Rough 2 (Shotley, Suffolk)

    Oct 2010 by Paul Fitch

Report on-board She Likes It Rough 2

October so far has seen few trips due to the poor weather we are getting at the moment. When we have managed to get out the fishing hasnt been to bad. Roker have made up most of the trips landing 17 one trip and a dozen another. Nothing huge with the majority of fish being 4-6lb with the odd better fish in amongst them. Stil far to many spotty dogs to mention! A few late smoothound up to 8lb have also put in an apperance. We saw more winter species on the last trip with some good sized Whiting and our first cod of the winter trips was caught by Ahmed a nice 7lber.
Things stil seem be running that 3- 4 weeks late as everything so far this year has been. Hopefully on the next set of tides a few more codling will show.

    Report on-board Supanova II

September really did Supanova and Weymouth proud. Some fantastic bream, bass and flatfish fishing really made every day an absolute joy!!
Bream to touching 5lb's, bass to 8lb, Brill to 6lb and two cracking flattys which set new boat records. Ken allard with his monster plaice of 6lb 12oz and Pete Hollingberry with one of the biggest Turbot from Weymouth this year with a life changing fish of 22lb's! This fish takes the Supanova fish of the month for September.

Long may this fantastic fishing continue and the fine drop of weather!

    TIGHT LINES ALL!!!
