Report on-board Supanova II
The 13th March saw beautiful early spring weather, with a motly crew spreading from as far as Derbyshire on board we headed out again to target the Mid Channel Pollack. The day was fairly steady with a few quiet spells we managed a good day. All anglers landing at least five fish each. It was a truly enjoyable day and can't wait to get back out there. Thanks to Steve Parker for the pics.

Report on-board Duke IV
Fishing remains tough on Duke IV, largely due to winter refusing to loosen its grip upon us. Despite this the water temp is rising, although slowly!

Thornbacks have arrived and we are getting increasing numbers. These fish are disgorging Sprats! just goes to show even Skate will rise off the bottom to feed on these fish when in abundance. Cod remain elusive, maybe they are still high in the water, the netters are not getting many either! The Sprats run between 15’ to 20 feet below the surface and at times appear as a solid mass on the fish finder, although they are thinning and should be gone by mid march???
We are catching Dabs and Whiting along with some Dogfish!
A few small Bass showing up on the east pier, so they are coming along. So despite the gloom, better fishing is just around the corner.
We should have the spring Codling run by now, maybe the cold weather and the Sprats have put this back a couple of weeks, this should run through until late April so plenty of time yet!
Not many anglers at the moment so a big thank you to all those that have braved this long and very cold winter, without you the boats would be gone too!

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
After so many requests from anglers for half day fishing trips which they could bring along there sons, daughters, and the like, I intend to organise such a day during the summer, this trip is perfect for anyone who is wanting to intraduce friends and families into boat fishing, all tackle will be provided or you may bring your own your choice, the day I have chosen is during the school holidays Sunday the 1st of August 2010 we will depart the harbour at 9am and return around 2pm and hopefully we will return with some fish as well as some new anglers, the trip is long enough to get a taster for the youngsters and to see if the ocean is for them, I used to run many of these trips on the old sea urchin which proved very popular but alas not cost effective , but there are far too many youngsters out there who are denied the experience either because of cost or lack of fishing tackle and concernces about full day charters being too long for them,

the cost will be £25 per person regardless of age or ability and will include rods reels, feathers, shads, hokkias, and all leads, and I will even include some hook bait for everyone, Sorry no discounts if you choose to use your own tackle though, the tides are ok and there should be some mackerel about if the youngsters get tired arms bottom fishing,
I know other boats offer 3hr tourist trips during the summer but I intend to provide something tourist trips do not offer, I want to give youngsters the best possible experience trying different rigs and set ups also we will be trying a couple of the local wrecks as well as working the rough grounds

Report on-board Supanova II
Saturday 6th March saw Supanova undertake her first trip of the month. With a fresh breeze from the northeast conditions were not ideal with wind against tide and very coloured water making fishing challenging indeed. The guys on board worked extremely hard for the fish they caught and a big pat on the back must got to them for not giving up. A Big well done must go to Trevor Cozens who succesfully landed his first ever Pollack and promptly followed it up with a couple more. Well done Trevor. I have some spaces this coming friday, saturday and sunday. The long range weather forecast is looking good. Give me a ring 07976876667 or email lyle@deepsea.co.uk if you fancy getting amongst the Pollack.

We had bright sunshine and light winds, No, this was not a dream it was a day that we have only dreamed of for the last two or three months, This gent likes to book the boat on his own, then he can go out and come back when he wants, There was only three of them.

We pushed the tide to the mark i had in mind and dropped the anchor, 3/0 or 4/0 hooks sand smallish baits, If you go too big you will miss fish, we were fishing for about half an hour and we had the first fish, not large but it was a start, the fishing was steady up to high water, The ebb was slower but we did get some bigger fish, The total was 24 CODLING with 12 keepers up to 4lb -

Report on-board Flamer IV
FLAMER III - February Report - The inshore fishing produced plenty of conger eels along with whiting, blonde rays, smooth hounds etc. The Wrecking was good for pollack up to 18Ib 4oz and the odd ling on a variety of lures.12 different species caught on Flamer III so far in 2010.Flamer Fish of the month for February was a hard one to award with pollack of 18Ib plus being caught but I decided to award it to Richard Christian who landed a 29Ib Ling on a 12Ib class rod bringing the ling up from over 200 feet.Richard is pictured with his prize ling catch.
