Over the last week i have only been out on two trips and thats because i have told the anglers how the fishing has been, The first trip we only had 4 CODLING but the anglers said that they still enjoyed the day!from a skippers point of view that's good to hear,
The next trip was two day's later, at the first mark we only had 1 CODLING so a trip down memorey lane to fish a mark that we used to fish over twenty years ago when the fishing went slow, I had 5 hire rods but they did get 11 CODLING not big fish ( the biggest went about 18") but it was better than the last trip, lets hope it's not to long till we see more fish.

The last report i did was on the 28th December..... that shows how the weather has been with strong winds and the snow, I did manage to get out for three trips and the fishing has dropped off partly due to the sudden cold snap and the bigger fish have moved off to spawn,We will see them return and i think we will see a lot of smaller fish mixed in with them. I would expect to see a good run of fish start from mid Feb onwards.

We have been having a great time out Cod fishing this last couple of weeks. The whiting seem to have died down a little which is resulting in some great cod being caught many of which have been in double figures. We have been out with groups of individuals who have been delighted to hook there first ever cod (one of which was a lovely chap who has been trying for 40 yrs) Well done to you Monty! Another first cod was taken on a spinner with no bait much to the his delight. Well done Faisal!
There is plenty more cod to be had and plenty of time still to catch them on the inshore marks. We will be out there catching more tomorrow.

  • 30/12/2009 Fishing Report by Dave Saunders on Kellys Hero Charters (Brixham, Devon)

30 Dec 2009 by Dave Saunders

    Report on-board Kellys Hero Charters

Managed to get in a 4 hour trip yesterday 30th December for 5 lads holidaying in Brixham for the festive season.
This is the first trip we have managed to get out on the sea for any length of time for weeks! Easterly winds give the Torbay area a problem and the wind has been easterly on and off for quite a few weeks.
Fishing was restricted to local inshore reefs due to the remnants of the previous couple of days swell and the forecast of another strengthening NE !
We did however manage to get amongst some good sized Whiting and filled up with enough fish for everyone to have several meals. A few poor cod added to species.
It was just nice to get out on the sea again.
Now taking booking for 2010, if you book four trips for the year a 10% reduction will apply.
Best new year wishes to all new and old customers for 2010 Dave.

    Report on-board Razorbill 3

I hope you all had a good christmas, That's it over for another year, Well nine months at least!!! My first trip back after christmas was our annual GOLDEN COD copetition that's held in the week between christmas and the new year, This year had the biggest entry we have had with over seventy anglers and around twenty private and charter boats. The main aim is to have FUN and raise money for the R N L I, all boats are limited to the RIVER BLACKWATER , fishing starts at 08 30 and finish is 15 00 and all fish to be weighed in by 16 00. Entry fee was £8 and that included a hot meal at the weigh in and with a raffel after we aim to raise as much as we can. The top honours this year were taken by lorrane Humphry ( biggest cod) Libby Walton (lady's biggest bag) aboard the EASTERN PROMISE, Steve Turner ( gent,s biggets bag) aboard the ENTERPRISE, with bright sunny weather and calm seas it was a big hit with all who took part. This year we beat last years total of £730.00 with a staggering £1059.00. Thanks go to all who took part, to all who gave to the raffel and all who dug deep in there pockets. We have set the date for next year it is the 28/12/2010. we do have spaces on boats for anglers and private boats are more than welcome to enter.

  • 28/12/2009 Fishing Report by Bob Marshall on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)

28 Dec 2009 by Bob Marshall

    Report on-board Duke IV

Ben's group from Eltham had a fine weather day on Duke IV and along with some cracking Whiting they got amongst the Cod. The fish preferred a tip of squid with their lug today. The fish just kept coming and even the sun came out.
Read Ben's Review for his comments on the day.
Glad you enjoyed the day Ben and look forward to seeing you again soon!
