What a great weekend for all who were involved, well done to Saturday's crew for putting up with the rough weather but still managed to boat 12 codling.
Sunday's conditions were much calmer with another 17 codling boated, all fish over the 2 days were in the 2lb to 4lb range and in great condition , plus the usual whiting and doggies.
Again well done to both crews for a great weekend.

We'll they all got what they came for some more than others but all caught some lovely Pollack. Jamie in the picture now called Jammy Jamie had 8 pollack and this rather large specimen fortunately the pollack had spawned as have most we are now catching. This was his first time Pollack fishing and he caught all his fish on a good range of Lures. ........ we have spaces on board Yellowfin charter Brighton for single or group's. Happy Fishing people.

Fishing Report by Geoff Sharp
on Sweet William (Tyne, Tyne and Wear)

Report on-board Sweet William
We headed off late this morning, unfortunately missing the dawn fishing and back end of the ebb tide, to avoid the inconveniently timed slack water.

The conditions were great, very light to no wind on occasions, with a lazy swell which was forecast to build later in the afternoon.
We dropped the anchor on the the inner rough ground and immediately began to pick up some chunky whiting and pouting in good numbers for sport, with some of the guys using feather traces taking up to a dozen each.
Once the flood tide started pushing, the perfect pan sized codling started coming aboard, again in good numbers, with some of the guys taking about five or six each for the pan.
Last season, thankfully, we didn't see a single dogfish come aboard; only to have multiple come aboard in one session today!
At around 1:30pm, the 2.2 metre northerly swell forecast for Sunday started to roll through and build noticeably. Towards the back end of the flood the guys were pretty much fished out, so we headed home mid afternoon after a cracking day out!
If you’re interested in experiencing a day on the water, no matter your skill level, give the skipper Geoff a call, or message, on 07740 706007. -

First trip of what is going to be a very busy Season for us today. There is always a hint of trepidation when you haven’t been able to gather intelligence of what wrecks are fishing well and with around 2,000 to choose from off of our East Sussex coastline getting on the right ones, at the right time is absolutely critical.

In 7 years we have never failed to catch the target species on wrecks so we had a good idea where to find the better fish but you never know for sure! We needn’t have worried, we were soon into good fish and the tally kept growing and fish sizes improving throughout the day. Great to see so many fantastic early season fish in excellent condition and some nice doubles amongst them. Best of the day went to Ian that tipped the scales 14lb 6oz and a new PB - well done Ian.
Great to catch-up with some of our regular anglers and to also welcome aboard some other fine chaps new to fishing with us, we look forward to welcoming you aboard again.
We are going to be making the most of this wrecking for the next couple of months before hitting the Bream, Bass, Turbot & Brill so if you would like to join for more of the same drop is a line and we will hook you up.
Species today - Pollock, Coalfish, Gurnard, Whiting and of course no wrecking trip complete without the mighty Pouting!! Lost count of numbers but we were into the second big fish box which is always a good sign.
Thanks all who sailed with us today and well done on your catches.
Best wishes

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)

Report on-board Galloper
As I am sure you have heard by now there are a few cod showing at the moment. This is of course a very welcome sight after a few lean years. only time will tell if this spring run is a sign of things to come or not. One thing is for certain and that is they are here now and they wont catch themselves. With the wind stuck in the east for a few days we have been able to take full advantage of the shelter offered by the blackwater estuary and surrounding waters with a big comfortable catamaran to fish from. Catches have included the usual dogfish and whiting (although in small numbers) one or two pouting and even a bass. Thorn-backs are in varying numbers from day to day with a good day seeing 10-12 rays and the biggest pushing 12lbs. numbers of codling have been the best for several years and a nice stamp too.

Our best day so far is 25 codling between 8 rods, I have seen people travel many miles around the country for far less in recent years. of course with the afore mentioned other species making the day up we have enjoyed some great sport often while other boats are stuck in port. Who knows how long this fishing will last so I would suggest getting out there and enjoying it while its there folks. Its hard to beat a good days uptiding for codling on a winters day.
Further afield we are chasing spurdogs, hounds, rays and other species. There is of course a good chance of seeing a cod off there too and with any luck a proper one at that.
I have individual spaces and possibility of full boat bookings over the coming weeks and months if you want to get out.
Please be advised that a steady trickle of dates are filling up for 2023 so please get in touch asap if you require a specific date.
Remember it is often worth giving me a shout if you are cancelled else where and still wish to get out, as we have lots of sheltered fishing available and a big catamaran which makes it even more comfortable.

Fishing Report by Andy Bridson

Report on-board Patricia Rose
2023 Winter Season
View Boats Page
We took advantage of this year's lack of fish in Jan to get Patricia Rose out of the water. She's due her 5 year MCA inspections and recoding, so some serious investment went into her. Shiny rebalanced props, rudder, and rope cutter upgrades, including new hydraulic lines. She's been back in the water now nearly a month and back to finding some quality fish over this tricky time of year. There's still some great Blonde Rays around despite commercial pressure for the smaller tides with high 20s still being caught. Your other option on small tides now is to look East to the Skerries for Plaice, Turbot and Ray action. Inshore can be tough this time of year but for those willing to try, we've still had Pollok to 16lb and double figure Cod. What people want from the offshore wrecks is hard fighting Pollock and in 220 foot these fish certainly test your gear, biceps as well as your angling skill. Check out our availability calendar for details and WhatsApp me when you are ready to book or want more info. As ever tight lines.
