    Report on-board High Flyer 2

This report covers the weekend of 23rd/ 24th/25th May, bank holiday, the weather not been kind at all the wind unfortunately stopping all offshore work. We had to work around the tides this weekend and basically make the most of it so big thank you and well done to all my customers every fish was well earned. Apart from the heavy downpours sunday we managed a dry monday but the light winds forcast was not to be. Fished north of the turbines Sat had few decent smoothies and doggies most of the day, Sun was quite poor fish size wise but had a few codling thrown in , only small smoothies today showing up but ended up home early with everyone soaking wet not a great day. Mon was better still bit blowy to go offshore so fished off Lowestoft front with a reasonable day few nice bass pictured here , no skate or cod today plenty of pin whiting still proving a pain. Big thanks to all the anglers on High Flyer this bank holiday weekend, nice to see few new faces as well, bit of a hard one but enjoyable all the same, looking forward to being of service again soon, until then tight lines everyone. Jon. (High Flyer)

22nd may 2015 by tony read

    BASS TRIP
We headed east to one of my bass marks after one hour and fifteen minutes we dropped the Anchor, 6 anglers on board to day all good anglers loaded with 5 hundred big fat lug worm. We cast out, 10 minutes later we had a nice 3lb bass then a couple of nice size skate we had a few more bass on the last of the ebb, we was just waiting for the tide to start flooding all rods went out and we had whiting after whiting not what I planed then after about an hour of the flood the tide started pushing through hard. Bass started coming aboard and I said to one off the Anglers there is still a chance of the odd cod, when Tim hills rod bent over five min later I was netting an 8lb cod then another angler was bent in to a nice cod this carried on for the whole of the flood WELL I did not expect that we where supposed to be on a bass trip mid summer cod fishing at its best we ended up with fifteen nice cod from 5lbs to 8lbs and 4 or five cod lost. Over 20 bass loads of skate.dog fish whiting and dabs
It goes to show sometimes you should expect the unexpected!

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Phew...!! what a day yesterday, (Sunday 24th May) a new party that have just started coming out with me, and few regulars... Hi John & Tim.. but what a really nice crowd of lads.
We have them the option of having a crack at the Smoothounds, but they opted to go for Skate, not a problem... !
After a 30 minute steam (I still cant believe how fast Vanishing Point-2 is) we were fishing on a mark we had fish for several days, but sadly when I arrived at the mark, there was a small private boat right on where I was fishing,Grrrrrrr!!! but never mind the sea is a big enough place without throwing my toys out of the pram.... so I picked another spot not far from where we had been fishing days before and after a little wait John Bryant got the first bite, and like the pro he is, sat on his hands until the fish decided to move off with his bait, and wallop, he wound into the fish and there was a real rod bender on..!!!
You Know it's funny, and I always smile when I say it...( it was from a great skipper out of Bradwell called Bob Cox) a master..!!! the thing I say, that makes me smile, and think of him is when I shout out to anglers... DON'T STRIKE WINED!!!!! Classic Bob Cox,
But after the last of the ebb tide finally died we went to pick up our pot and had a few Hermit Crab's in it, and that gave me time to reflect where we might fish for the flood tide, as the ebb was ok, but no where as good as the previous few days, but there was quite a few boats on the patch where I had been, a bit too busy, just bank holiday enthusiasts all getting a bit of the action.
So I pick out a new bit of ground to fish for the flood tide,so we were on our own, and nice and quiet, and it was not long before the rods started bending, and we were off..!! and it didn't stop until we pulled the anchor for home, and I think it's fair to say everyone had caught fish, and another boat full of happy customers..
Well after the end of the day, Nicola jet washed the boat as always, while I valeted the wheelhouse ready for the next party, but then it was back home to quickly get a bite to eat, wash change and out to Saint Lawrence Bay Inn, to Rock the joint till midnight, and even then they didn't want it to end yep I still got it...lol but it was a great day all round, and today is a rest day after 20 hours at my age........ I need a rest.....lol again
seriously though, there is a shed load of fish about, so if you want a trip on our SUPER CAT!!! start dialling..!! oh forgot to mention we boated around 50 Thornbacks once again yesterday, so well done guys you were fantastic, cant wait to see you all again next month,
    Tight lines.....!!

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

What a day...!! total cock up on the forecast, but we fished through the wind and tide to have a great days fishing.

We had some regulars and to new guys from Hungry, and had never done sea fishing before, and they listened to what we had to tell them, and before you know it they were casting multiplier reels all by them self, and catching Thornback Rays one after the other..... Well done George and Ben..!!

Well with old friends Trevor, George, Ken, Paul, Dave & Andy...!! everyone fished together, and everyone helped each other, it was a terrific day had by all, I lost count toward the end of the day but we must have boated in the region of 50 Skate, with some kept, and lots returned.

Considering it was supposed to be the best day weather wise of the weekend, it sure was chilly in the North East wind....Burrrr..... but as I am writing this report, the sun is shinning, the wind has dropped away, so may be tomorrow will be the day we should have had today..!!!!

Well we will be doing the same for tomorrow and we might have a look for one or two hounds if the weather is right..!!

    Tight Lines................!!

22 May 2015 by LESTER BAKER

    Report on-board Seawatch1

Six weeks since my last report and I'm pleased to say the fishing in our area has been fantastic with the codling still with us in numbers until the end of April and so many Thornbacks I have lost count of how many on some days, with the better days producing in excess of seventy rays.Still a few codling being taken in all areas over the last few weeks, but no numbers any more ( All good things have to come to an end eventually)
Today weather was fine so we had a look offshore and ignored the rays, found some codling to six pounds,a few small hounds and best of all approx 30 bass, most of them in the 2 to 3lb bracket but one nice fish of 9lb 8oz,a nice Red Gurnard and of course a few rays(they are everywhere) All in all a great days sport and a good time to be fishing in the Thames Estuary.

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

    Hi Guys,
well we had a lovely day today, weather was fantastic, fishing was very good, plenty of Skate caught, Smoothound, and LSD's....
We did pop offshore for the first of the flood to see if we could connect with any Bass, but we didn't get any, didn't really have the right bait, no king rag, all we had was Hermit Crab, and squid, but that only threw up Roker and Hounds...
But we moved back inshore and carried on getting Skate.
    Catch up soon guys..
    Tight lines............!!

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Well off early tomorrow, weather looking good for the next new few days..!!!
The plan is to pick up Hermit Crab pot we put out on Sunday, then depending what is or isn't in it will depend on what we do for the day.
I have had a few messages from friends of "Terry Batt Fishing" unknown personally, but now I have made their acquaintance by email, and I find a great comfort in what they had to say to me, so thank you guys, I really appreciate you contacting me with levels of support of that of old friends..!!! .
But looking at reports from other web-sites it sounds like the Hounds are starting to show up all over the place..!!.
I will let you know after tomorrows trip what we did, and what was the target species....
    Tight lines...!!!!

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Just a quick update.... we now have our pots out to catch Hermit crabs so if all goes well over the next few days, Thursday is looking good on the weather front, so we may well go for Bass on the hard run of the tide, then when it backs off, we may put the Hermits to good use and have a crack at the hounds...

Thursdays trip is full now, but if you act quick we have just had 2 spaces become available on Saturday's trip.

Here is a tip if you are fishing off you own boat....... if you are fishing for Thornback Ray's, using squid and you are getting plagued with doggies, change your bait to Herring, and I doubt you will see one, we did this yesterday, and we didn't see a doggie all day.......... Yeah..!!!! for Herring.

Ok guys, very busy this week, but me and Nicola would just like to say a huge thank you for so many of you that are now coming back to us after being away for so long, and all the new parties that have seen us out in the Blackwater estuary and have made enquiries to book vanishing Point-2 up, that is GREAT...!!!! thanks everyone.....!!!

    Tight lines............ see you soon!!
