''The forecast was promising and Cod had been reported being caught, what more could we want. After a short 20 min steam out we dropped anchor at our first mark; it was the last of the ebb and we had to be quick. Out went the rods baited with varieties of choice concoctions and it wasn't long before the first sizable whiting hit the deck, shortly followed by some nice dabs. But where were the cod? the tide had by now gone slack and the boat swung with the wind, it was time to move to a rough ground mark for the start of the flood. After a slow start the first Cod of around three pounds was boated shortly followed by another slightly smaller one, both taken on lug; things were looking up! Anxious to catch one or two more the level of concentration from our small party increased twofold but it was another 30 mins before another two around the same size came aboard. One or two more sizable Whiting and a good Dab were boated before the skipper caught and netted a near 4 pounder, another plump 3 pounder ended the day; we steamed for home, happy with how the day had turned out and started planning our next trip.''UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD High Flyer 2

3 hour trip booked this afternoon with Stewart and his dad, Peter. Peter started us off with the first cod then shortly after Stewart had his first cod and then I caught one. Then all went quiet for a while before Stewart was off again with a couple more cod, Peter tried keeping up and bagged 1 more cod but his son kept ahead by catching another cod just before we headed in. We ended with 7 cod and a few whiting.

Today the boys beat the girls. A group of 6 beginners out today on a 4 hour trip, once the tide got underway we started catching the cod. Emma started us off with the first cod, then the boys took over and went on to catch the most. We totalled 7 cod today and lots of whiting mixed in too.

3 hour fishing trip with a lovely couple, Adam and Ellison. we started off with a few nice sized whiting and as the tide got up the fishing got well underway, I started them off with 2 cod, one of 2lb and another of 3lb then Ellison caught her first cod of 1lb 7 oz. By now Adam was under pressure to catch a cod, we tried his rod uptide and down tide but still no luck. Then I had my 3rd cod weighing 4lb 4oz and Ellison was in with another cod of 2lb. By now Adam was concerned for his reputation being beaten by ladies but was a good sport. He tried his hardest but Ellison ended with the last cod of the trip weighing in 5lb 7oz

The times are changing as the seasons as well our fishing marks are all so changing but we are still getting the goods all though the Cod that we are targeting are not showing as yet only a sprinkling of small fish but Whiting and Dabs are plenty in areas that we don't normally fish the last few trips we have had in excess of over 300 Whitings and 100 Dabs and 3 Rooker that we were not expecting,it wont be long now before the Cod start to show and when they do look out as we are 100% sure there will be some good sized fish coming to the boat this will give every one the boast we all need,bp.

This weekends trips were a tale of two very different days really. Saturday's trip with Arthur and co produced plenty of decent size Whiting at the first mark but not a sniff of any Codling or Thornbacks and we never had a dogfish either :-) :-).....as the day continued more Whiting so moved to what has become one of my favourite Codling spots over the last two years and a solitary Codling graced the boat within an hour along with more Whiting...but at least we got one!!! :-)
Todays trip with Cliff, Derek, Dave and Graham saw us try further north in hope of a Thornback to start on the slacker water and to try for a better cod in some deeper water on the Ebb. No Thornback but plenty of Whiting on the first mark, no cod, so moved..more Whiting and another single Codling, so move number two was on ..and I fancied my favourite spot may turn another codling or two up.....but it did us another 9, most falling to Graham who must have had 4 on the trot...nothing huge, biggest was about 4lb, but pleasing as turned what was looking like a poor day into an okay one! :-)
