Fitted new lights to the High Flyer for our night time fishing trips, couldnt resist using up weekends lug, best excuse i could come up with. Nipped out at 5.30pm straight out the front ,back in by 7.30 all washed down. Had 2 cod as pictured,( excuse the messy back garden and hat),, couple of flatties and handfull of whiting. Rather annoying as we had 1 cod all day previous. Personally believe fish bite better inshore at night proved it many times, looking forward to our night time trips, hope you can join us on them. Please note if we dont have your email on our database our night trips are generally booked up before they appear on here. Hope you can join us. Jon. (High Flyer)

Report on-board High Flyer 2
Today started with big plans to a 12 mile bank taking in a huge wreck i know of, soon to be scuppered by a strengthening NW making conditions reasonably lumpy! We got on the 5 mile mark decided to try a bank that has proved popular in the past, instantly plagued with small whiting and flatties! Conditions worsened making fishing difficult so we headed for the calm inshore Roads with everyone else! was worth a try ended up with Daves cod pictured, lost a very good cod myself at the last minute, lots of whiting and a few cracking dabs. Thanks to Chalky,Marty,Dave,Paul,Richard and James for coming out, will try our plan next time if we ever get a break with the british weather! Jon.

Weather this weekend was not the greatest, but we managed to get out and find a few. Saturdays weather was worse than Sunday. Biggest fish this weekend was 9 lb 13 oz, with the general stamp of fish in the 4.5 lb to 6 lb. Hopefully the weather will be kind and allow us off to the deep water marks

Well it was Cold!!! But the Cod dis show. 7.00am Start, on a low tide. Out and along to Walton, about 2 miles off shore. A little bit bumpy but still comfortable for fishing.Bites were slow, but a few knocks. And then a Doggie. And then a Whiting. With all 7 of us praying for a Cod. Bites were on and off throughout the Morning, with Dan managing to connect with a nice 6lb Cod, and also a Thornback Ray. A move to another spot to try and find some tide, and bites still on the slow side, but Derek trying to find the fish as always. The another Cod to 6lb,and other smaller stuff. We headed in about 4.15pm, and were all Cold. The final tally for the 7 of us was 9 Cod, Biggest at 6 1/2 lb, and two at 6lb, then some a bit smaller. 2 or 3 Thornback, and a handfull of Whiting and Dogs. The Cod are out there, and we will be back soon. Thanks to Derek for an enjoyable trip as always.

Despite strong gusts within the forecast for today,(whats new??!) Mick and Mitch decided to take the gamble and we ventured out, staying inshore to get some shelter.
Despite choppy conditions the chaps did well and we ended up landing around 20 Cod, 12 keepers, 2 fish of 8lb and a couple around 6 with the rest between 2 and 3lb.
What was really interesting was that we only had 3 Whiting all day and only 2 Dogfish so maybe the Cod have now properly turned up and are getting to the baits first....we live in hope!
Get well soon Dave, hope you can be back and fishing with Mick and Mitch again.
Here's Mick with his two best fish of the day..... -

Another lovely day out of the water. Started today off with a bird watching trip this morning, saw lots of dunlin, blacktailed and bartailed Godwits, Curlew, Redshank and loads of Grebe and dabchicks out on the water too. Then we stumbled across an extremely tame or maybe just a very photogenic Cormorant that wasn't phased by use circling the mooring it was perched on. This afternoon I headed out with Robbie and his Step son Michael who hadn't been fishing before and at 11yrs old he was dying to give it ago. We anchored up and within 10 minutes Robbie had a decent fish on, unfortunately he was too keen and struck too early so lost it. Michael started catching his first whiting and then just after high water he hooked into his first codling. He is a quick learner, he soon got yhe hang of it and left his step dad on zero cod for the rest of the afternoon until on that very last cast when Robbie reeled his last rod in and caught a codling too. He was pleased he'd levelled with Michael. Although Michaels was bigger and he had caught a lovely whiting for his tea too! An enjoyable day had by all.
