What a cracking day!
View Boats Page
Regular customers Derek, Graham and Jim needed an early start so at 6am we met at Shotley and headed straight out and all the rods were fishing by 7.30. A Thornback first cast for Graham and a few Dogfish was an encouraging start and the day just got better from there! :-)
The fog burnt off and the sun came out and so did the fish....we ended the day with near on 20 Thornbacks to 11lb, 13 Cod to 8lb, 7 Smoothounds to 14lb, a couple of Whiting and loadsa Dogs. All we needed to complete things was a Bass but unfortunately they didnt show!
If you are group of upto 5 anglers and are looking for a trip on the East Anglian Coast, give me a call...in the meantime, heres the chaps with some of their catch..... -

Saturday morning saw us leaving the mooring at the normal time, with an improving forecast the offshore banks and bass being the quarry. After just over an hour and 20 steam, the pick was set and 8 rods were in the drink quick smart. Half an hour passed and nothing but doggies to grace the deck, had we made the right move? 10 mins later and a bass, not big about 1.5 lb, back it went. Over the next hour and half the fishing was slow managing only 3 or 4 bass, 2 keepers biggest about 4 lb. Decision was made by the crew to try a different bank that fished well earlier in the year. Half an hour steam further out we set the pick again. On the way to this mark there were a lot of mid water marks, mackerel? Down went a set of feathers and within seconds a full string. Baited with fresh mackies the guys set about the fishing again. Plenty of fun ensued with Roker playing there part. The worm produced bass but not in the numbers of the last couple of weeks. End of the day there were about 70 or so mackerel, 10 Roker to about 9 lb and 4 keeper bass.

Sunday saw us implementing plan B. Forecast was not promising but we could find a bit of protection with the wind direction as it was. Not a million miles away from the muddy puddle we set the hook in 20 ft and set about it. Now today we had a full 10 on the boat and they fished 2 rods each. The boat looked like a porcupine, but in fairness for the amount of rods that were out, tangles were fairly minimal. we fished the flood with a couple of moves up the bank to follow the fish, thinking what to do (where to hide) on the ebb. The way it turned out we could of gone banging offshore again.the winds eased as the ebb got going and the thought crossed our mind to push out another couple of miles but as the fishing was ok, not fast and furious, but stay we decided to stick it outin the area. At the end of a fairly tricky day where the crew fished hard, they ended up with about 15 Roker a few doggies, a dab, loads of whiting, 2 starfish, 4 Whelks and one sailors Arsehole. Not a bad day considering the forecast.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Hard Labour

Out today with regulars Cliff,Ernie, Michael and Dave and with the forecast looking okay and winds due to drop we headed out. A rough sea state once out at the mark produced a first Thornback for Dave at 10lb, dogfish and odd hound as well as some vomiting and butt clenching for some of the rest of the crew!LOL!

As conditions eased we had a move to another spot which produced very little in the hour we were there so moved offshore to find more tide and colour in the water and this proved successful as the chaps had 10 more (hornbacks to 13lb, Smoothounds to 8lb, Cod to 6lb and more Dogfish! Also lost a couple of decent hounds and Thornies during the afternoon but that's fishing!!
Cracking day chaps, see you again on 2nd June :-) -

What a cracking weekend,
View Boats Page
the hounds have arrived in good numbers - we managed about a dozen on Saturday with the best around 10lb and a nice lot of good skate.
Sunday less hounds but more skate - a nice first double for one very happy angler.
Cannot wait to get out again this coming weekend, the tides are much bigger.. should see some bass and plenty more hounds. -

Out today with Steve, Andy, Ed and Graham some of whom had never fished the East coast before.
View Boats Page
The weather was kind to start and the fish soon started to show with Codling, Thornbacks and our Dog friends providing the action before Ed hooked into something more lively and our first Smoothound of the season came on board. The weather deteriorated late afternoon and we ended up heading back and in to the river looking for some Bass.
Ended the day with 9 Thornbacks to 13lb (a personal best for Andy, pictured), 4 Smoothounds to 7lb, 4 Codling to 3.5lb loads of dogs, 3 small Bass and some Whiting so was a good day for the species ;-)
Well done chaps, hope to see you again soon...
