saterday the 5th and sunday the 6th of sept not exactly smoking rod tips but the winter cod are starting to appear weights of between 2 to 4 lb also with the odd stray bass and thornback things are looking up at last the weather was pretty grim on saterday but no sickness so it has to be a good day as the month progresses im sure it will only get better as for sunday the weather was slightly better but the fishing was more spread out when they came it was brief and then a long patient wait for the next lot roll on the cold weather for some cracking cod fishing

after a short holiday abroad we have returned to the reiable thames for some fun summer fishing. we had 8 hire rods out saturday, some of which had been before but most were complete begginers. we had a good day with great weather and a few fish to boot. although we had no massive fish we did have a few smoothounds around the doubles and the biggest was 10.8lbs. by the end of the day the lads had enjoyed the fishing wich was at times quite hectic when we had a 3 and 4 smoothounds on at once. its always nice to see these fish with the average being around 7-8lbs they fight hard and are easily returned alive. we were pleased at the end of the day with 20 smoothounds to show for our efforts. over the next month expect to see more smoothounds, bass and roker aswell as the return of the codling in the not too distant future.

STILL A LOT OF BASS, SMOOTHOUNDS AND SKATE AROUND AT THE MOMENT.
ALSO DOVER SOLES ABOUT AT DUSK.

the fishing has been good despite some of the weather.we had a few nice hounds over the weekend ans its always nice to see a few double figure fish and who doesnt enjoy those powerfull runs?the hounds will be about for another month or two so there is still a chance for you to book up and catch some.

TOOK A PARTY OUT TODAY AND FISHED IN SOME SCRUFFY WEATHER, NOT TO BAD THOUGH AS PARTY HAD A GOOD DAY OUT WITH SMOOTHOUND TO 11 POUNDS ON THE BOAT.

WENT OUT 5 MILES TODAY OFF THE SECOND CONTOR ONTO THE 'M1' FOR A FEW HOURS.
WATER WAS VERY CLEAR AND THERE ARE STILL A LOT OF GOOD SIZED SMOOTHOUNDS ABOUT ALONG WITH THE BEST BASS WE HAVE SEEN IN MANY YEARS.
SKATE/ROKER ARE ABOUT THIS YEAR IN MUCH GREATER NUMBERS WITH SOME VERY NICE DOUBLES IN THE PACKS.
THE TOPE ARE ALSO AROUND AS WE HAD 2 DECENT LAST WEEK WITH ONE COMING IN AT 32 1/2 POUNDS AND ANOTHER AT JUST OVER 18 POUNDS.
BRILL/TURBOT HAVE STARTED TO SHOW ON THE INSHORE BANKS WHICH IS UNUSUAL BUT GOOD NEWS FOR THE AREA
EBB TIDES ARE LOOKING TO BE THE BEST BET FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS WITH THE BASS. THEY ARE TENDING TO FEED MUCH HARDER ON THE EBB AND ONLY LIGHT UPTIDING GEAR IS NEEDED, AND CAN BE SUPPLIED ON THE BOAT.
ALSO FOUND ANOTHER 8 NEW WRECKS THIS WEEK WHICH ARE HOLDING A GOOD STAMP OF FISH, WE WILL BE TRYING THESE OUT VERY SOON OVER THE NEXT WEEK OR SO.
THE NEXT FEW WEEKS ARE LOOKING VERY PROMISING WITH THE FISHING PICKING UP.INTENSLEY FORM NOW UNTIL THE COD COME BACK IN SEPTEMBER. View Boats Page

fishing sat 20th june
we steamed further than normal in the hope of smooth hounds and bass first anchor we had a good run of skate but as the tide picked up so did the the swell so we upped anchor and moved over the bank in the hope of killing the swell the next anchor point saw smooth hound on the agenda and dog fish and more skate as the tide died the swell flattend out but so did the fish the last two hours were tough but the show of a bass kept all fishing going to the end View Boats Page

another great days fishing on the island girl 7 skate and one smothhound were caught the wether got better as the day went on most of the fish were caught on squid tip of whith rag or lug but manily on squid there were allso whiting and pouting.good day had by all.thanks jhon for a puker day.

2009 has been very good to us so far and thankfully the fishing is still great.we were out on sunday despite the strong easterly as the lads were still keen to go.
we didnt venture too far due to the weather and as the lads were hire rods i didnt want to give them a rough trip.we had a good day after a very wet start and were rewarded in the afternoon with some bright sunshine and flat calm sea's.
we finished up with 23 thornbacks 1 small tope and a load of dogies.the lads and the boat both handled the sea really well and we didnt have one suffer with sea sickness! View Boats Page

great day out jon dickens skippered the boat to great fishing spots we all caught fish within minutes of dropping anchor fish ranged from dog fish , skate , whitting , . it was a varied day weather wise jon delivered great fishing , great service and the best cup of tea in essex . for the novices on our boat he supplied knowledge assistance with bait and handling the fish . well don skip and first mate service fantastic .
