Had a great days fishing the weather couldn`t have been better for the North sea , Jon the skipper is a great host with plenty of sound advice and practical help for us novices , nothing was too much trouble and he`s very easy going , also providing a never ending flow of tea/coffee , snacks and some ropey jokes I would definitely be using this charter boat again and would recommend it for both novices and the more experienced sea anglers .
Regards Jim Taylor

17/May With the fog giving visibilty only 50mts we headed out to a mark that is very safe when conditions are so,we caught the last hour the ebb the fishing was good from the off with plenty of Spottys straight away then Chris latched into a nice 5lb Rooker wen were up and running as these were what we came here for Gloria picked her rod up as it was bending over what a struggle getting it back to the boat in the net on the scales a lovely 10lb8oz male Rooker her PB then it was my turn another fine 6lb fish in the bag Tony and Nat had to be content with Spottys on this tide,as the flood picked up so the Spikeys started to feed what a great days fishing and to top it all Chris picked up a 6lb Stary to add to his list of fish today,BP.

Today was great weather for once nice weak tides took advantage and headed out with DXB water Company and lads from Brentwood Essex, our first mark was already fished by commercial liner so had to move but managed few nice smoothounds with the pesky spotty dogs as usual. Still cant shake the whiting but all adds to the sport. At slack we moved out onto the 4 mile mark plenty of small smoothounds and doggies again ended up with a number of skate best pictured here with Howard todays winner just under 13.5lb nice fish. Looking like the better size smoothies are making a show now peeler crab if you can get it proving best bait. Will be doing few more evening trips soon so lookout for them if your interested. Big thanks to Derek for todays trip much appreciated looking forward to our next jolly next month always a pleasure to see you guys.

Report on-board Vanishing Point-2
We had a great day on Friday 12th May with our very dear friends
View Boats Page
Nigel Farage, Dave Barham , John Rawle, Nicola, and myself Terry Batt, on board our super charter boat Vanishing Point-2.
we were fishing for Thornback Rays and general fishing and had the most wonderful day.... with up to 50 Rays caught and most returned, we were mainly fishing for sport, good mates enjoying a day off from the hustle and bustle of every day life “especially” poor old Nigel... the paparazzi cant get to him out at sea...!! so a lovely day was had by all..!! the talk was of cricket, football, boxing, fishing , and general day to day ordinary chit chat no politics a day off......
At slack water we all had a go at shooting some clay's and Nigel was pretty good..!! John couldn't get used to my Berretta , but Dave Barham shot out of his skin hardly missing a clay ( crafty dog) but I don't wish to brag I didn't miss a single clay...!! so Dave and I have a grudge match....lol
After the days fishing and shooting we retired to the Green Man Pub just around the corner from Bradwell Marina, courtesy of Arthur T who owns the marina and a great supporter of
Nigel Farage, and we thank Arthur for arranging Michael to receive us out of normal hours...! but Michael does get something out of it for himself and notoriety for his pub....
(you owe me a pint....lol) but we would like to thank all the staff at the green man which include Vicky the best barmaid in Essex..! who treats everyone the same no special favours, and Nigel loved it... just one of the guys..!!..
Well next time we have Nigel down with us it is quite possible he may be "accompanied” by his good friend and comedian
Jim Davidson ... not definite but possible ..! so we will have to see where we go for after the trip drinks on that day... ????
I would like to thank John Rawle for basically running the trip, expert as ever at the helm and his expert advice on baiting and casting which Nigel found very helpful and rewarding..!!, and also to Bob Cox who sadly couldn't make the trip on Friday but did join us in the Green Man for a drink, so nice to see the legendary Cox & Rawle among our other guest,
Nigel Farage, and Dave Barham, sitting at one table, I felt most privileged to be sitting at the table with my wife Nicola and able to call all of these people my friends ..... it don't get much better.
If any of you fancy a days fishing and Clay Pigeon shooting as do our Celebrities please call on...... 07768 30 66 46 to make a booking makes for a great corporate day out and team building event.... 100% tax deductible...!!!
All the best

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin

Report on-board Galloper
Yet again its been too long since my last report on here. As ever we’ve been busy aboard the ‘Galloper’ with lots of people wanting to get out and enjoy the great weather we’ve been experiencing this spring. Nowadays spring time primarily means thorn-back rays (also known as roker) in the thames estuary. As is well publicised we are fortunate enough to have a well managed local population at the moment. Although we now catch them through out the year the thorn-backs are in their best numbers now with lots of big females coming inshore to breed and feed along with their smaller male counterparts. Although the weather doesn’t cost us many trips throughout the year we particularly benefit at this time of year when the thorn-backs can often be found in good numbers right into the sheltered waters of the black water estuary. We have been seeing great numbers of fish come aboard with 30-40 rays commonplace nowadays. There have been some good fish amongst them too with lots of heavily laden females being caught and of course always returned aboard the ‘Galloper’. Mixed in with the thorn-backs there are numbers of dogfish and whiting along with the odd pouting. The first few bass and smooth-hounds have shown in the last few weeks which is a sure sign that summers rapidly approaching.

To mix things up for my self as well as my anglers I still put the odd offshore trip in this time of year to target the brief run of spurdogs we have off here. I was lucky enough to happen upon a couple of marks for these getting on for 10 years ago now and have seen some decent fish come aboard over the years. On a recent trip off there with a group of regulars we found a few spurs, no monsters but some nice fish none the less with the biggest just shy of 12lbs. there was room for me to fish that trip which I always jump at the chance of being an obsessive angler my self. after getting the lads started in the morning with the first spurdog, I was lucky enough to realise a long awaited ambition of catching a blonde ray on my home grounds. She was no giant at just over 12lbs but I was very pleased to catch her . my luck really was in that day. We managed around 20 thorn-backs, a nice bass of 5-6lbs and a couple of pouting and whiting to go along with the constant stream of dogfish for the day.
Over the coming weeks we should continue to see good numbers of thorn-back rays as they start to creep further afield. We will see increasing numbers of smooth-hounds and bass mixed in with them until we make our first trips to target the smooth-hounds.
