Report on-board Vanishing Point-2
We didn't go this weekend with high winds and monster tides against the wind all day it was decided that fishing is something to be enjoyed not endured,,! and it was a decision our parties were happy with, as I know if I had said we were going they would have turned up, but it is not all about the money..

We have had some great fishing over the last week though hound to just shy of 20 lbs, Bass to 4 & 5 lbs and we had the pleasure of our good old friend Nigel Farage out with us on Tuesday, recovering from his 17 year long hard fought campaign with Europe, and if you look closely at the photos you can see Nigel sporting his new fishing rod his friend made for him made in
UKIP colours and put it to good use.
Nigel's son Tom is a very accomplished angler, and grabbed glory right at the end, of the day ( chip off the old block) with a good 14 lbs Smoothound and with the rest of the guests on board were treated to the most fantastic lunch put on by my very good friend and crewman Colin Pryor, it was a luncheon fit for a King..! many thanks Colin.
Well when the boys did some Clay shooting Nigel was quite good, but got his butt kicked by his son Tom ...lol it was a great day with great friends ending as we always do at the pub..! yes we all went round to the Green Man in Bradwell Waterside to see our very good landlord Micheal who welcomed us all, and cheekily got Mr Farage to pull a pint,
,(which he was as good at pulling a pint as well as drinking it..!)
The rest of the week was just as productive with lots of good fish in the right places.... Tight lines -

A great fish for Barry on Lead Us
View Boats Page
with a bit of swell running but a falling forecast we headed to an offshore mark in time to catch the start of the ebb. Things were slow until the tide picked up with a couple of hounds coming in, and then Barry was into a good fish which stayed deep and fought hard, at first site i thought it was a cod when i saw the white of its belly but a flash of its black back told me it was a bass and a good one. once landed and weighed it tipped the scales at 7.5lb a PB for Barry and the best bass on Lead Us so far this year. Things slowed down as the tide eased again but after a couple of moves we started catching again as the flood picked up with some more good hounds coming in ending up with 12 to 7lb and the bass @7.5lb.

Report on-board High Flyer 2
Bringing us up to date been bashing the tope as you can see picture today of Barry regular on High Flyer with his first ever tope , went off like a train thought it was alot bigger due to fight put up. All tope returned unharmed with wire hooks that rust out in case of snapoffs conservation a big part now in tope fishing. The feathering producing thousands of sandeels which this particular tope was caught on, mackerel been patchy for us, few gurnards and weavers and odd flatty thrown in. The bass gone off the boil just the odd one or two at the moment plenty of smoothies still about even tiny little pups still. Best fish(tope) at the moment stands at 31lb fell to Karl Bird from lincs hopefully heavier ones lurking around time will tell keep eye on website and our facebook page under ( Jon Old High flyer ) or (High Flyer Sea Fishing Trips). will be trying up to the weekend for few more tope weather permitting so see what happens if you fancy your hand at catching one of these let me know will make few more trips up, until then tight lines everyone. Fishing has been excellent with more big hounds on the Chinook 3, best at 16.5 lb on saturday. As the tides take off this week there should be more great action with the hounds.

Aug 1st 2016 bringing us up to date , steamed out ten miles offshore to a favourite mark of mine the weather perfect, bit of strong tides start of the springs but we coped well i thought. Started off fishing for tope straight away with mackerel from previous day Tom caught first one of 28lb nice fish unfortunately grazed and rubbed all skin off his arm little bit of claret but hes hard! Slack water approaced so feathers out for the usual tons of sandeels, few mackerel still not thick, plenty of weavers and nice little gurnards too with odd flatty about. After slack Fishing was a bit tough in the tide has couple of runs which amounted to nothing ended up doing a bit of bassing on the drift but no bass today . Only other boated tope was todays picture of Chris first tope for him so though be nice to show weighed in at 25lb leaving him tottally knackered and needing a tea! Used the new tailer today pleased with that as very angry customers these tope like to bite anything onboard so count your toes afterwards! wasnt the most productive of days tope wise but ok for the tides and feathers made up for it, big thanks to Steve for organising the trip Tom and Chris and first timers Brett , Andy and Nathan much appreciated men look forward to next time. Cheers Jon (High Flyer)

A lovely morning out with Charles and his family 30-07-16

Headed out with on a lovely morning to a mark off Lowestoft. We arrived at slack water which gave me a little time to get everything organized with the baits hitting the bottom as soon as the tide started to ebb. Within a few minutes the back rod started to go and the first fish was on which was more than a task to reel in for the young lad with help, shortly a fine 7lb thornback was lifted aboard. Over the course of the morning being a 4hr trip 3 more thornbacks of varying sizes were landed and a nice 7lb smoothound with everyone landing a good fish making for a happy family and an experience the boys will remember for a long time.
