Report on-board High Flyer 2
Great day today weather wise decided to take advantage and head out in search for tope as requested. Started off with a bit of feathering the mackerel not thick bit patchy, the sandeels came in all the while. Few flatties and weavers to add. I caught small cod over a wreck nice stocking filler. After filling the tubs we decided to drift for bass wind spun the boat in a circle bit of a pain so anchored up just off the rough water in 60ft. First tope was the smallest 16lb , then a 19lb followed by a 20lb and finally picture here of Chris Merrison with todays biggest of 30lb, we boated four and lost three others pity really. Big thanks to Chris Morgan for organising the lads from Bedford,Chris, Melvin,John , also regulars Barry ,Gareth, and Chris and finally another Chris Kilpatrick with his first tope ever well done men. So after a confusing day with four Chris,s on the boat today was most enjoyable look forward to seeing you all soon. Cheers men, Jon (High Flyer)

Headed out with Bob and Brian on board with more wind than we'd hoped for not sure if we would be able to fish the chosen mark but fortunately the sea was being kind to us. Things were slow for the first hour but then the fish started coming in with some nice hounds coming to the boat at slack water we moved a short distance to catch the start of the flood and within a short time the fish were biting again with Bob and Brian both landing pb's Brians @ 6.75lbs and Bob first with a 7.5lb fish and then on the last cast he topped it with an 11.5lbs female full of pups which smashed his rod but was duly returned this finished off a great days fishing on Lead Us ending up with 22 smoothounds up to 11.5lbs and all bar 2 over 4.5lb a day im sure they will both remember for a long while

Also numerous bass but all small sadly.
The weed has been a bit of a problem but if you persevere the fish are there -

With the weather being so kind to us we have managed some long off-shore trips to have a go at Plaice fishing, which is almost unheard of off the Essex coast, but we have found them, the Bass, mackerel, launts and sand Eel's, all the what we needed to track down the elusive Plaice ...!!

We ran two trips out for Plaice, on Monday and Tuesday, both were good days, and everyone caught Plaice which was good..! and Mackerel was no trouble.
My good old mate Paul Nichols decided to put on a Mackerel strip, and promptly landed a nice 5 lbs Bass, so he was pleased ...
We are running several more trips out (weather depending) so If you want to have a go for these lovely flat fish just give me and Nicola a call..... 07768306646

After a few days away it was back to fishing, with the party on the boat by 8.00am and my grand son as co pilot it was off to the newcom bank as i had herd it had started to fish again and my information source was not wrong, not great numbers of fish but the fish we did catch were in very good condition,we finished up with 3 nice sized rooker and 5 big hounds with one fish being lost dont know what it was but i am sure it was a big hound or may have been a tope as it broke us off could not do any thing with it i think it had made its mind up that it was not coming to the boat, well done all and hope you enjoy your fish at The Sailors Home Kessingland tonight,Brian.

well in our usual july marks there are plenty of mackerel around again and thats good as its a top bait this time of year the hounds are showing to 16lb but very weedy where we are getting them so its is a bit of a pain good number though. bass to 9 lb coming up on squid or mackerel smaller ones on the worm but several a trip still. skate are stacking in numbers again and loving mackerel bait.

first day back after a week away and strait back into the fish had to punch the tide up to Gorleston with hardly a ripple on the water. once the anchor was down the fish started coming steadily throughout the day ending up with 20 smoothounds between 5 & 7lb and numerous smaller ones thrown back a great day on the water.
with some good fish around and a good forecast for the coming week make the most of things and book early to avoid disappointment
call 07803270798 to make a booking and discuss your requirements cheers ColinUPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Lead Us
