    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

I know some people might not think shooting and fishing go hand in hand, but years ago we set up Clay pigeon shooting on "Vicky Emma" our old charter boat...
This was so popular, that now are back full time chartering, clients of our have been asking can we re-introduce this very popular sport.... and as we advertise VP-2 as a sport charter vessel, it seemed only right to try to get the right tickets to once again give the people what they want
so after a fairly long process, we finally got the go ahead yesterday to once again start Clay shooting on board Vanishing Point-2.
We took possession of the new clay trap yesterday, a fully remote controlled unit which can be operated from down in the cockpit, with the trap up on the massive wheelhouse roof, not like the old days when Nicola had to sit up on the roof launching the clays manually one at a time...!!
The clay shooting should be up and running in the next two weeks once the installation has been approved.. there will be really nice Trophies to be won on the day.... The Vanishing Point-2 Top Gun Trophy and medals for 2nd, and 3rd places... so yes guys ...THE CLAY SHOOTING IS BACK.!!

  • 01/2016 Fishing Report by LESTER BAKER on Seawatch1 (Brightlingsea, Essex)

    Jan 2016 by LESTER BAKER

    Report on-board Seawatch1

The new year has started and finally the weather has allowed us to put in a few trips. The cod fishing has been a bit slow with only a handful of fish caught on most days but we have been lucky enough to enjoy some good sport with good numbers of Thornback Rays, the best on Seawatch so far at 19lbs 2ozs for regular Tony Holt.
The last few days have seen the temperatures drop to more normal levels for this time of year and it will be interesting to see how this affects the catches.
Weekend dates are booking fast so don't leave it too late or you may be disappointed,
    All the best Lester.

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Well the weather was fair on Saturday and Sunday.

Fishing was still a bit difficult but we did manage a fair number of Rays, photo of just one caught yesterday.

Glad to say the biblical amounts of dog fish were no where to be seen, I think we only caught about 4 the whole weekend..!! just a few Codling came out, and most boat did very much the same..!

So to summarise... still tough out there, and room for improvement, but with the water temperature now down to 7 degrees it's heading in the right direction...!!!

    Tight lines everyone...!!!

cod fishing slowed up and down the coast during December and with the winds we didn't venture offshore much,
January and a few more better frish showing with severall thornbacks but spottys have gone off for a while
odd spur dog showing aswell ,with the spring fishery still to come, so if the wether settles some reasonable fishing to be had
    out there.

Not the best of conditions for today's trip 6th Jan for Mike and his friends as we headed out of the entrance it was looking considerably worse than expected with the sea running in from the North East creating a massive swell so a quick change of plans i headed South and sat off the ministry with still a big swell in there we managed to get a few small Whiting with the prospect of getting Cod with the sea crashing over the bank and so we did Kyle got into a nice fish coming in at 62cm 5lb7oz we had a couple of spottys as well and only managed 1 fat Dab well done you boys for sticking it out see you all soon and lets hope for some better conditions,Brian.

  • 29/12/2015 Fishing Report by Dan Wait on Morgan M Charters (Burnham-On-Crouch, Essex)

29 Dec 2015 by Dan Wait

    Report on-board Morgan M Charters

Was out on board Morgan m today we set off at 7am with a window of what has seemed a never ending wind, talking to tony on our way out he explained how tough the fishing was at the moment but he said about trying something different today as he has done several times when I've been out with him and it paid off. Within 5 minutes of dropping anchor and boat settling the first rod arched over with one of the anglers with the first of 31 skate landed with 6 of them being double figures, as it started flooding hard tony told us to start putting some squid and lug baits out instead of just herring for skate as what cod are about up in water chasing the sholes of herring will move down to bottom as the water pushes through hard and true to his word the first cod come over the rails a cracking 10lb 14oz followed by other codling to end a cracking day on board Morgan m who once again put us on the fish as he does every time
