With a crew of 'Non Anglers' today it was never going to be easy......When you get plenty of weed and plenty of fish it becomes a tad busy!

The boys we had today (6 of them) apart from one, had never picked a rod up in there lives! They learned quickly though :)
First thing was to get a few Mackerel which we managed but also a few Bass amongst them on the feathers.Only chuck back size but it was nice to see them.
Just a short run from there to put the hook down in 25ft to try to stay out of the tide.It was pretty dire for the first hour or so but then livened up a tad! lol The weed was awful but the fish were amongst it.
2-3-4 fish on at the same time! We had some nice Hounds to 14lb and a some nice Rokers (Is there such a thing and did I really just say that? )
The boys were happy and a steady few fish came to the boat throughout the flood. At high water we needed to move to the other end of the bank as this particular bank fishes one end on the flood and the other on the Ebb.More Hounds but the weed was awful again. You need to fish through the weed though as the fish are there. In the last half hour I told the boys to all fish fresh Mackerel baits as I know there are a few Bass lurking around on this mark and they do like a bit of Mackerel....Bingo! Last 5 minutes and I saw the bite.He went to grab the rod and I shouted as did Dan, to leave it...It then had it away and a nice fish of 6lb hit the deck.
The boys learnt quickly today and fished well, especially with the amounts of weed.Seasoned anglers would probably of not even tried as they like it easy lol but there are plenty of fish there. You just have t work a bit harder for them.
Dan worked his cock off today. He worked one side of the boat and I worked the other. It was pretty non stop and we both felt pretty knackered!
The guys today were a proper nice bunch. Not often you get that sort of people. They even brought the whole Charter fee into the cabin before we even left.I never asked but they just paid straight away. They showed there appreciation of a good day at the end by giving us a £60 tip. That don't happen too often but it is nice when people appreciate the service we try to give.
Thanks Dan,you worked hard today and filled Andys shoes admirably who is off sick with a bad back.
Get well soon Andy we miss you mate! -

Yesterday should of been a Tope fishing day.The wind put a stop us getting as far Offshore as you need to go for these toothy critters. We made the most of some attrocious weather by not going so far.We had some nice Bass,Thorrnbacks and smaller Smooth Hounds. The Mackerel were in abundance too so fresh bait wasn't a problem.

With so many trips lost this summer due to the adverse weather it was nice to actually get the party a day out....Something we haven't been able as often as normal this Summer.
Mark with his PB Bass of 7lb 8oz so he was a pleased angler. -

With a poor forecast this weekend, there was no chance of venturing far offshore, so fishing was restricted to the inshore marks. Saturday saw wind speeds gusting to 30 forcing us to try and find some protection from the lee of the land. Fishing was slow to say the least, but as the tide turned and wind and tide were in the same direction it allowed a bit of scope for different marks.

With a move to different grounds the fish started to play ball, not fast and furious but enough to keep the rod tips nodding. Mid size hounds were the order of the day up to 6 lb ish, with a good spread of schoolie bass and a few roker too. Considering the conditions, not too bad a days fishing.
Sundays forecast looked a bit more promising, but after poking our nose out, it was obvious that offshore was again going to be unfishable. Again we had to wait for the tide to turn, allowing the seas to calm a little and the boat to lay with the tide.
Once the tide got a bit of oomph in it, the hounds made an apperance again. Fish in the 4lb to 6lb range were coming on fast, with double and triple hook ups from time to time. Then one rod screamed off as a better fish grabbed the bait. After a good scrap a nice hound hit the deck weighing in around 12 to 13lb mark. Not long after this another screamer and another fish of the same stamp. By the end of the day, twenty plus hounds were landed with five fish over 10lb all going back to fight another day. The rest of the days catch was made up of schoolies, with a couple of sizeable fish in amongst them.
What was a poor weekend weather wise, turned out ok all things consideredUPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Hard Labour
