    Report on-board Razorbill 3

With the weather on Friday and Saturday too bad to go out it was left to Sunday to get out, The forcast was 5 to 7 South West going South east but as i turned up at the FREE car park (you don,t have to pay to park when you go fishing) the rain stopped and the sun started to shine what a change from Saturday, With only two anglers on the boat there would be plenty of room, AS i have said before we are very lucky with our river it holds a lot of good fish and with 14 COD up to 7lb and lots of Whiting we had plenty to do.

Well over the past week the fishing has improved with more and better size fish landed on the boat,CODLING from 2 1/2lb up to 11lb, We are still getting numbers of THORNBACK RAY with the largest i have landed on the boat a fine fish of 15lb, WHITINGS are more numerous with good size fish up to 2lb, DABS are starting show up in more numbers and we are still getting DOGFISH. I would expect the COD fishing to get better with more and better fish but i think the THORNBACK RAYS will start to thin out as we get into DECEMBER, We still have one or two dates free before Christmas for indeviduals/groups so give me a ring. You can see more at my web site.

the fishing has been good but patchy. yesterday we had a nice run of cod but were pestered by a seal. today we headed back to the same mark in the hope he had gone away. thankfully he had and once the tide was under way we saw some cod coming aboard. we totalled 11 cod and 7 roker. not a missive haul but they were quality fish. the biggest cod went 8.8lbs and a a couple of the roker were around the double figure mark. not bad fishing concidering the drop in the tides. when the sprats turn up the cod will pilke on the pounds so dont missout on decembers fishing. see our website for a weekly fishing update aswell as available dates.

Over the past week or so we have been out most day,s, The fishing has been very mixed with some days fishing very well and the next day the fish have been harder to find, But then "that,s fishing". The catches of COD have been better in size with fish from 3lb up to double figure, SKATE are still making an apperance catching 6 some days along with the COD and WHITING, The fish have moved inshore now so we will not lose many day,s to bad weather, The river BLACKWATER is fishing well some day,s with as many as 20 CODLING up to 10lb and lot,s of WHITING and DABS.

we had the day off today and so stacey and i took out some friends of ours out with us for the day. stacey was at the helm and took us well off shore to one of our favourite big cod marks. on the ebb we only had a couple of cod and a roker aswell as a smoothound. as the tide started to flood we saw a few more cod coming aboard and by the end of the day we had 16 cod and 7 roker. there were loads of dogfish and whiting which kept us busy but i think they stop some of the cod getting to the bait. the cod averaged around 5-7lbs and the biggest was 11.6lbs caught by stacey.

    Report on-board Swin Ranger

fishing on the 19th of oct i had high hopes as the day before had been the best in ages so i settled on the previouse days mark wind had been forcast for the afternoon so it seemed that we might just see the flood before the weather started to return the fish started to come and as the day before as the tide came up the fish got bigger but so did the wind and swell by midday the swell was making fishing uncomfortable but we tried to percivere but a couple of nasty sets of waves made my mind up that enough was enough so we headed inshore once out of the esturary and back in the river we dropped the anchor and setteled in to a whiteing festival unfortunatly thats all we had the rest of the day fun was had by all .

Well it,s about time that we started seeing a good run of COD and this last week we have been catching some good fish, The main size has been around 4 to 6lb with some good doubles landed over the weekend, We are still getting some good THORNBACKS up to 10lb with numbers of WHITING that we havent seen for a long time,
Now that the CODLING have moved inshore we will not lose too many trips to strong winds, The next few months will be the best time for COD fishing with the bigger fish moving in around December and the start of January.I would expect to see a lot of 15lb + fish, The fish in the picture is a 12 1/2lb COD caught on Sunday is that the start of the bigger ones?

Well after a short quiet period the past couple of weeks, the fishing is starting to get back on form. Today the lads took the option of quality not quantity and so we headed for one of our close range marks for bigger cod. The fishing wasn't fast but we were catching roker from the first cast and the cod soon followed coming steadily throughout the day. We were lucky having some great autumnal weather with a slight frost this morning and glorious sunshine throughout the day. The lads from Crouch Sea Anglers were very pleased with their catch totalling 18 cod averaging around 5-7lbs and the best around 9.8lbs. There were loads of whiting about and one of the lads even accidently had a cod on a whiting. We had 10 roker with the biggest about 6-7lbs, a load of dogfish and a nice bonus bass of about 3lbs. Not a bad day at all and I'm sure the fishing will only improve over the coming weeks and yes we do have some individual spaces as well as a couple of whole days still free. please see our website for weekly reports and any avialable dates.
