    Report on-board Girl Mandy

Just to put certain facts straight we are out as much as we can and only loose a few trips due to bad weather but i cant see the point in going on and on about whose boat is best at nearly 13 ton in weight we can hold our own in most weather so size does not matter all the time we may not be the fastest but a track record of nearly 48 years in the job i dont need to bullshit we are all trying to do a job. Fishing has improved and a good amount of double figure skate coming to the net plus our friends the dogfish have made a show along with some good whiting but alas no cod We have a few good tides left so get your gear and get out here men and ladies

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

With fishing picking up nicely now, and the finest charter boat in the fleet that gets out when most other cannot due to wind....!
There are some really nice big Thornbacks Rays coming out at the moment, so well worth a trip to put a good bend back in those rods that have been put away all winter.

Not forgetting on the Vanishing Point-2 we do clay pigeon shooting for those more competitive groups, and is also a lot of fun.

5 Mar 2017 by TERRY BATT

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Yes Troy as far as I am aware The Vanishing Point-2 was the only boat to sail yesterday morning Mate.
The advantage of such a big catamaran like Vanishing Point is at 51 foot long you have the water line length, and of course her pedigree as a wind farm service vessel saw her working in 3 meter sea’s in the Irish sea so the weather yesterday was never going to be a problem to us .
It was nice to see you boys join up with Mark Smith, his party are very much like yours Troy good anglers easy going, and fish for what’s there, and you certainly pulled out some nice Thornbacks yesterday, and the usual banter to go with it.
It was never going to be 60 mph which is what some people were doom and glooming about, I blame XC weather forecast I don’t know why anyone bothers to look at it I think they only have one colour….RED, for most of the day as my forecast predicted the wind was 18 to 20 mph SW and on rare occasions tipped the wind machine gauge to 40 mph during the sort squall’s that came through with a brief shower then settled down again even then the boat was still comfortable and we carried on catching nice fish..!! well done lads you all fished well and nice to hear you boys saying if one or the other were short on numbers in the future to let each other know and you would team up once again, great comradery, that’s what me and Nicola try to promote on the boat….. See you next month Troy & Tony…….tight Lines..!!

Sunday Started well but with a stronger tide and much higher winds up to 42 mph we only managed around 6 good fish and one or two smaller fish , but Richard did manage the best fish of the weekend... a nice 14 lbs fish so well done mate (that has set the target for Rob..) lol at last we are seeing some decent fish again so come on guys lets go fishing...!!!

  • 20/02/2017 Fishing Report by Phil White on Chinook 3 (Bradwell Marina, Essex)

20 Feb 2017 by Phil White

    Report on-board Chinook 3

We have had a real mix of weather this last fortnight, snow and strong east winds last week then calm and cloudy this week, this has allowed us to get out to the offshore marks where we have had some great sport on the Thornbacks in calm conditions.

    Offshore

Fishing has steadily improved every day this week on the offshore grounds. The numbers of Thornbacks is steadily increasing all the time, the dogfish have not turned up yet and there are only odd whiting, this means the Thornbacks are getting time to find the baits without competion. These early Thornbacks really pull hard and in light currents are good sport.
Most fish are the smaller males but the bigger females are starting to show with several fish over 10lb, best at around 12lb on Sunday. Best baits are herring and squid.

    Inshore

Fishing is improving all the time, there are more Thornbacks showing up in all areas, these fish will be around all through the spring and into June.
There are some cracking whiting around the inshore marks, these fish will take most baits but squid and lug are the best.
The piers and estuaries have been hard but will improve steadily now with more Thornbacks, whiting and maybe odd codling around. There are still some cracking dabs in the Blackwater estuary, these fish have been with us all winter and have been a lifeline for us on days we would have cancelled.

Prospects are excellent. It looks like Thornback numbers are still very good and with spring around the corner we will start to see other species turn up like the spurdogs or maybe a decent cod or two.

  • 02/2017 Fishing Report by Scott Belbin on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)

    Feb 2017 by Scott Belbin

    Report on-board Galloper

Ive not got many trips to report on after having the ‘galloper’ out for a few weeks. She’s undergone a fair overhaul with a precautionary engine reconditioning too. I must admit its been a struggle being trapped on land for so long but hopefully a few missed trips now will pay off over the next few years. I don’t think we’ve missed a great deal to be honest with a combination of cold weather and loads of bait fish such as sprats putting the fish off. I managed to commandeer my dads boat the ‘ Razorbill3’ on a fine day a couple of weeks ago and got one of my parties afloat. The weather was spot on and we even managed to get amongst a few roker. There seems to be a run of decent fish in places at this time of year as ive mentioned before. Graham had two nice double figure fish with the biggest topping out at over 18lbs on dads scales (although I would place it nearer 16lbs to be honest) and a smashing fish any time of year. The ‘Galloper’ now has her engine back in place and she’s looking spanking ready for the season. I have a few spaces coming up in the coming weeks where a raise in temperatures should kick things off for the thorn-backs.
