Went out with Jon, late booking, got us out of the mess what had occurred with another skipper, Jon however was an absolute bosting bloke, top notch, had a wicked day and a good crack too, I would recommend the high flyer and Jon to anyone, made my weekend, ultra clean boat and fitted to a very high spec, loved every second of it. Cheers Jon!

Headed out today with the lads from Birmingham way, bit of lump on the water with a blowy westerley ,trying our luck to start with on the Corton Bank as had caught few spotty dogs during the week there. Unfortunately the pesky whiting were around nabbing the baits first as usual not letting us have any luck . Moved back right inshore to join few other boats at Snag Alley as the ebb was just starting, results were small codling again along with a few keeper whiting basically what had been happening all week. Seemed to be the same with the other boats, plenty of fish just the wrong size! After suffering a few hours there we decided to move to the flatty ground as the tide was weakening, more small codling and whiting ,the odd keeper and glad to say few nice flatties pictured here with top angler Jimmy! Was a hard day at times i thought all the lads done extremely well, every fish took effort today and changing tactics here and there paid off. Big thanks to Ian,Scott,Paddy,Ady,Tony,Martin,Matt,Adam,Ryan and Jim, enjoyed the day thoroughly ,good banter, was a pleasure to take you out. Lost yesterday Sat 8th due to strong winds again, stirred the sea up a bit for today Sunday 9th bit of swell still about keeping us inshore once again. The forcast of SW winds is wrong again straight southerly all day making wind against tide on the flood rather testing to say the least. With the anchor trying to fight the boat ,the swell building and the wind straight in our faces i thought the lads all done well today. Before the flood started we managed to pick up nice little sizeable codling, few whiting keepers, bit slower than i would have liked it to be honest. The flood brought another codling pictured here with Len, two spotty dogs, and more undersize codling and whiting so decided to finish off with a move back north which resluted in couple of nice flatties and yes more undersize codling and whiting! Probably just the time of year with a lot of small fish about, would like to mention numerous sizable whiting were returned along with the spotty dogs well done men nice to see a bit of conservation. Thanks to Jez for organizing his crew, Leo,Alex,Nick and Lee, and also to Ian,Tony,Gary and Greg first timers on the Flyer hope you enjoyed your day. Todays forcast was brilliant very light northerlys decided to do a bit of distance north ended up 12 miles up the coast to a bank, well proven skate hot spot hoping for a early bit of luck. Unfortunately only a spotty dog and dabs played ball there for us. The wind started to be a pain turning east making it lumpy decided to head in anchored up on a old favourite spot of mine caught whiting from the off with few small codling and decent flatty. Moved right back inside the Roads as the wind was blowing totally different to the forcast god knows why they cant get it right nowdays bloody annoying. Still catching under size codling and few keeper whiting, well done to Stephen for releasing sizable codling for another day nice to see a bit of conservation going on, maybe we would all have better sport if we all took a leaf out of his book? The day ended up mainly with small fish probably caught 40 to 50 undersize codling in all plus whiting being the usual pain, a spotty dog and couple of dabs. Big thanks to all the lads for enduring the morning rain and the longish journey out there, didnt take many photos as mostly small fish but pictured here is James Houlder with a cracking pound and half possibly 2 whiting best one of the day. In all not a bad day for this time of year hopefully all these small codling will return end of the year alot bigger and worth catching. Well at last,break in the weather forcast spot on for once, sea still bit swelly from last nights bashing. Had to stay inshore today wind still on the keen side, so decided to stay in the Roads reports of small codling from the beaches north and south all week so wasnt too bothered. First out today picked our spot soon to be joined by the others seven in total all in same predicument. Tide was racing but picked up small codling straight away and few whiting, then seemed to die, fish came on in spurts today. Wasnt the best of days bit slow at times ,few keepers of codling 6 in total, threw back a few undersize codling, some nice size whiting kept as well. Last cast of the day for Stephen resulted in a nice perfect condition bass of three and half pound nice surprise and perfect end to the day. Picture of Stephen,Tristan and Ian with some of the fish. Thanks to the others,Adrian,Tony ,Chris ,Chalky,Paul and Chris,enjoyable day, plenty of sunshine just great to get out.Soon as we get a break we shall be out on the banks for those bigger fish in deeper water,praying for the weather to behave itself ! Thought i better update the situation, as so many trips have been cancelled due to our lovely english weather!Having cancelled the lads again for tomorrow (sat 15th) Feb , hoping to get out Sunday 16th, forcast not too bad. Been keeping up to date with the beach anglers, thank you all for your emails,seems quite a few small codling have appeared this week hopefully the start of a run about time too. The offshore liners when the odd day has allowed have started getting few bass along with skate and reports of millions of dogs! The warm weather this winter has affected our cod fishing but 2 brightsides. Firstly lots of un caught fish out there great for stocks and breeding plus with the sea temperatures possible early skate and dogs next month on the inshore marks. This year we have been asked to arrange some specialist trips ie tope and bass, will email our database so if your not on, send your email address to us for information , basically you get it before the website. So hopefully this weather will start breaking, this strong SW jetstream cant last forever. If we get our spring codling run this year it should prove to be good hopefully, we will be doing a bit of distance to the banks if weather allows in search of those skate and bigger cod. Would be pleased to see you, dont forget already days booked up for summer wrecking with best dates going fast, dont leave it as they will be gone.Wherever your fishing beach or boat ,tight lines from the High Flyer.

Today the forcast was bit unsure with conflicting wind directions so decided to play safe after yesterdays drama, headed down to the Southern end of the Roads, only plonkers there! Started well really with whiting from the start reasonably regular but couldnt connect with any codling today. The best result of the day was Ian pictured here with a lovely perfect condition lobster around 2lb mark perfectly hooked, i was more surprised probably than Ian, have caught a few before but not this close to shore in the middle of winter! The wind started to pick up and started swinging SE , our worst wind here bad for swell plus getting back in the harbour. I knew we would lose the day after slack so decided to flatty bash on the mud while we could and had a nice little result with some lovely fish, whiting mixed in, everyone getting a bit of sport. After a wave came over the side desicion made , headed in for 2 pm, but was enjoyable ,home early few fish and a great bunch of lads. Thanks to Chris,Richard and young Ryan appreciate you travelling down, also David,Ian,Chris,David Mills,Pete, and not forgetting lucky sod Ian (Posh) Mann who feasted on fresh lobster which we will probably never hear the end of! Plans today were the 12 mile bank so headed out , 6 miles out decided to fish a shallower bank till the tide slackened off, unfortunately the wind came from nowhere making things very uncomfortable and left no alternative but to head in. Quite disappointed tons of fresh bait aboard, hermits, herrings, peelers, along with hundreds of lug, tail between the legs to the safety of the Roads again!! Anchored up bit further out today slightly deeper, paid off with cracking 2lb whiting for Rob , nice codling for Shannon, pictured here on todays report, also reasonable size pouting not very often caught in close ,normally associated with wreck fishing. Ended up fishing the sandy beds up the top to finish the day off with more whiting and flatties, not a bad day really for inshore fishing just wish the codling were thicker on the ground but still got 7 degrees water temp not good for our cold loving cod. Thanks to all the lads for coming out today, pity we didnt get to where we planned but were all home safe ready for next time and thats all that matters. Just hoping we get a break soon to let us do some distance and try our luck further out. All the best. Jon. (High Flyer)

Today was putting us between a rock and hard place, forcast was bringing in high winds for the afternoon and with strong tide we decided to stay in the Roads and joined all the other charter boats who were in the same situation. Fishing wasnt great to start as we missed the start of the ebb by an hour but we stayed till the slack giving it everything we could. Some measly whiting for our efforts very poor, but not alone think one of the boats had small codling next door to us. We decided to move to one of my inshore flatty spots at slack which resulted in flatties straight away. Some decent size whiting followed and we had only the one codling today pictured here with young Will showing us oldies up! Was a most enjoyable day despite the fishing being bit on the slow side, big thanks to Tony for doing all the organising and lovely stew he brought. Also to Will,Alex,Steve,Duncan,Martin,Carl,Damien and Andy all tried very hard i thought, least weather was on our side and started to pick up just as we headed in. Much appreciated men for the day will see you as discussed for our summer session looking forward to it. All the best. Jon.

Went out on the Highflyer and had a great day,even the typical British weather didn't put us off.Fishing was hard with Jon chasing the fish at his favourite spots which payed off with a nice cod to Paul L ,oh beers on you for the biggest fish.Would like to thank Jon for his help,hot drinks/biscuits and banter!Awesome trip said by all the party ,Merry Christmas and will defiantly be booking again.
