Report on-board Sunbeam III
Sun 29th July- Full day, 04:45... Nice early start off out to the wrecks today took a long steam out this morning to the wrecks and drifted quite a few... Landed some nice cod about 20 or so... nice group of lads very keen fisherman!
Tide Trip at 15:00 Went on the hunt for mackerel with 7 guys picked up a quite few all better sizes today too ... got a bit wet though due to a big rainstorm half way through.... good fun had by all.

Sat 28th July - Left quay on tide trip at 12:00 nice and sociable with a full boat - lots of small mackerel about to start with then started landing a few bigger fish... not as many as we would have liked... had a few moves about too... we will catch up with them!

Tonights evening trip was superb flat calm hardly a ripple,havent seen these conditions for months! As our time is limited we chose the Corton outside bank in hope of skate at slack. Started off well with Matts smoothy pictured here, few small spotted dogs ,plenty of makerel about but with no viz and discoloured water feathers no good. Went through the slack, eating the famous bacon rolls,decided to move off to the church as no skate appeared. Paul lost lovely size smoothound at the net good double we think, as the night went on those summer whiting decided to show! Whats going on? was a great evening weather wise, had a good bit of banter,thanks to Paul Layton for organizing trip with guests, Matt,Ben,Andy,Wayne,Clive, and Pete, hoped to have seen more fish like the odd bass ,maybe next time. was a pleasure to be out there. Thanks men.

Mon 24th July, half day-beautifully hot morning and nearly a full boat- went to drift the same mark as Sunday in the hope of a bass but unfortunately was a bit quiet, went and drifted some spots for mackerel and picked a good handful up - not loads but enough for dinner :) nice group of customers.
Full day - went and drifted some wrecks at slack water and picked up a few cod had a move down the coast in the hope to pick up some bass... Got one! Great afternoon in flat calm seas and good company View Boats Page

Todays trip started with a strong tide leaving us little choice but to drift to find those patchy makerel in the deep water weres theres a bit of clarity, resulted in a few coming aboard. The forcast of light varible winds was totally wrong and a very strong southerly blew up making us head in to sheltered waters behind Scroby Turbines. Started well with a lovely double smoothound pair pictured here with husband and wife,Derek and Angela hooking almost at the same time, wont mention Angelas was bigger! One small bass to Ian nice to see and couple of flatties to add. Beaten again by the tide turning and the waves making things uncomfotable headed in to a Hemsby Hole for a few flats and tiny dogs,again having to move up to outer harbour to beat the waves! What a day! thanks to Derek for organizing,Angela,Dave Mills,Dave,Ian,Den,John,and newcomers Keith and Jack. Think we made the best of a bad day, well done to you all. Many thanks. Jon.

Mon 23rd July- Went off Tope fishing today and landed 6 good Big fish, they are steadily increasing in size biggest weighing in at 50lb! Went and drifted a wreck at slack water and picked up some nice Cod, a Wrasse and 2 nice Ling... Nice variety of fish and ALOT of sun... Brilliant day!

Sun 22nd July- Half day trip... left the quay for a tide trip and drifted a few marks for mackerel, very quiet this morning... very strange... spoke to some other local boats who have also had the same problem... However picked up a nice sea bass... Always worth the wait.
Full day trip- Steamed to our Tope spot and landed 3 nice Tope... Quieter day for us than usual. But still had some nice fish and lovely weather. View Boats Page

Sat 21st July - Left the quay at 6:45 finally some sun!!! went and drifted a few spots quieter out there than it has been but still landed a few.
Full Day- Left the quay and steamed out to our Mark and got the rods out... kettle went on and first fish showed up! Landed a nice Tope ( why always when trying to make the tea??? hahaha) landed 6 Tope today meaning everyone got to land a fish, lots of big mackerel too, And judging by the sounds of the radio from other boats we landed the most! Today was a testing day for all , the weather report totally wrong ,wind being its usual pain making conditions difficult. The rain didnt improve conditions but well done to the lads for sticking the day. Plan was to try some inshore wrecks out on the 9 mile mark sounder showing plenty but could we get them! Not playing ball at all today no explanation, tried all manner of tactics with well experienced anglers we struggled. Results were a small ling, mackerel, one small turbot nice to see and lovely tope pictured caught over a bank on fresh mackerel. Big thanks to Ian for organizing trip, Chalky for crewing today, Mark A,Mark B, Willy,Tom,Chris, Andy and Kelvin. First time on the High Flyer for your group pity the fish were not as i expected today nor the weather we had bit of a rough one all round hope next time we get it right, many thanks men for the day.
