headed out to a local mark off corton as there was still a strong northerly breeze dropped anchor and started fishing which was difficult as the wind was stronger than the tide and blowing the boat all over the place. fish started coming in steadily mainly smoothounds around the five pound mark with the odd whiting thrown in for good measure then lennie (his 70th birthday trip) was into a good fish his rod was bent doule as a 14lb starry hound broke the surface and was landed, ended the day with a dozen smoothhounds and four whiting a good day had by all

The End of June has seen some superb fishing off the Suffolk coast.

The ground fishing has been some of the best we have seen for years, The run of smoothounds has been fantastic, on most trips landing well over 25 fish per trip. The size of the hounds this past week has been good with at least 10 double figure fish landed each day if it didn’t look over 12lb we did not even bother weighing them! On the best day we had a 16lb 8oz, 17lb 8oz and a 25lb 8oz.
The bass fishing on the ground has improved our best day last Fri saw us land 7 Bass all between 4-6lb along with 20+_hounds 6 pack tope and 3 Roker to double figure not a bad day for just 5 anglers!
Sunday again saw us ground fishing with two fantastic fish landed for bill Hutchings party. Best fish of the day was a toss up between Bills Roker at 18lb 3oz a massive fish for this time of year, Or a 11lb 8oz bass caught by Steve on his first ever fishing trip!
Bills party on Sunday landed 24 Hounds 8 pack Tope, 1 Bass and 5 Roker all in just 6 hours fishing well done all
The last couple of trips have been offshore wrecking with good numbers of cod and Pollock landed our best day on the Pollock was 24 fish up to double figures who says there are no Pollock in the North sea! -

The past week has been a busy one for us getting out every day bar one. Fishing has been good with the majority of the groups opting for a mixed days fishing: fishing for hounds and Roker for best part of the day and then a short spell hitting a wreck or two for some cod. The same as last year for us really on the wrecks, with our small uncharted wrecks coming up with the goods time and time again. Best we managed was 66 in only an hours fishing for 7 anglers.

We had Des out with us on Tuesday Offshore Bassing and Wrecking for his birthday trip. Between four anglers they landed bass to 8lb drifting with live baits and also had over 40 cod to 8lb on a wreck in just 45 minutes.
Glen’s groups on Thursday were unlucky with the weather, which did not allow us to push out to the wrecks, but they still had a good catch on the ground with plenty of Hounds and Roker
As the week went on and the tides fell away we turned our attention to more wrecking and ground fishing, landing Smoothound and Roker to over double figures every day
The hounds are still of a good size as quite a few are still in pup and returned alive for future sport. -

Having had to postpone most of last months trips due to the relentless winds, at long last the weather gave us a window...well for a day anyway!!!

Great day out with Cliff, Andy, Dave and Ernie. We had Common and Starry Smoothounds to 8lb+, Dogs, Whiting, Thornbacks to 8lb+ and the first Tope of the season, albeit a small one!
Story of the day was poor Ernie(pictured here in battle). Having hooked a huge Thornback that took 30 yards on its first run, Ernie played it for ten minutes and managed to get it within ten yards of the boat... only for it to head off again taking another 50 yards!!!....passing his rod to Cliff for a rest, Cliff promptly lost said Thornback....needless to say Cliff took a hammering for the rest of the day!!!
Well done chaps, great banter as usual thank you..hope to see you again soon! -

Fishing in May was hampered by the weather with quite a few trips having to be re-scheduled. When the Weather allowed fishing was Generally good. The ground fishing has been very good with large numbers of smoothounds landed each trip, On average we were landing 20-25 per trip with most fish in the 6-9lb range and a few good double figure fish were also landed on each trip, the best hound of the month went 16lb 4oz. We also landed 6 -10 Roker per trip so a good mixed day was had on the ground

The Offshore Wrecking has also improved now with plenty of cod and a good few Pollock showing from the distant wrecks. The Baitfish have also arrived. On our last trip plenty of Mackerel and Launce were caught as Bait for the first Bassing trip of the season for us, it was a steady day with over 20 Bass landed up to 7lb and then a short stop on a wreck rounded the day off with 20-30 Cod. So things are looking good for June, if the weather allows of course! -

Another day of inclement weather! (See the second video that I have uploaded on my videos page). A VERY Strong South Westerly breeze blowing (35MPH) against the tide made it impossible to go wrecking today but the excellent crew that was aboard today opted to save the day after travelling 136 miles to come out today and we went uptiding instead. A great day was had with many laughs and great humor, along with the fishing too. Smoothounds, Bass and Skate again. What a great bunch of lads to be out with, they made the day! Thanks!

What a day for weather! A strong South Westerly blowing but we still managed to get out and we persevered. Some cracking big Whiting caught and also some nice Bass and Smoothounds. All fell to either Squid or Ragworm. We also had one Skate as well which was unusual on the mark that we fished.

Today saw the new prop put on. A shiny new prop that greatly enhances the boats potential now! After sea trials with it we noticed a 50% improvement in the speed of the boat and a 30% reduction in fuel consumption which makes a big difference to our trips now as we can go further distances a lot quicker and save a lot more fuel. Thanks to all who made it possible.
