fishing this week has been brilliant with anywhere from 80 to 200 fish a day,
today we had alistar from northumbrian water out. and although a touch breezy off to the wrecks, and it was fish from the off, 3 and 4 rods in at once some double headers.
and a lovely stamp of fish 3-5 pounds
this happened on every wreck we visited 4-5- sometimes 6 rods into fish and a lot of fish in the 4-8lbs bracket.
some of the fish nudging double figures
ended up with over 150 fish onboard, everybody well happy,
especially phil Gibson took this lovely cod just on the 15lbs mark nice one phil

Report on-board Upholder
May started disappointingly with the water quality being poor due to algae bloom and weather conditions, the start of May was plagued with Northerly and Easterly winds. When the Westerly winds came the water cleared the fishing improved immediately with each angler averaging 6 codlings a piece to keep.

From mid-May onwards the fishing has been the best it has been for years.
The Codlings started around the 2lb to 3lb mark with the best codling being caught by Andrew Mackie and weighed 6lb.
Nine anglers from the Northern Power Grid Sea Angling Club fished their points competition, top rod with 30 Codlings was Karl Wiltshire, followed by novice angler Kevin Garside with 18 Codlings, John Golding had the biggest fish a 6lb Codling. Total catch was 122 Codling, 5 pouting, 11 coalfish and 1 ling. 67 Codlings were kept for the table.
In the last week the quality of the fish has improved dramatically and the average size of the Codlings increasing to the 3lb to 4lb mark. Anglers are managing to catch up to 25 Codling a rod with the majority of the fish being returned unharmed. Best Codling so far this season was caught by Brian Bailes and weighed just on 7 lb.(see photo ). -

another excellent days fishing, with no wind for a change it was off to the wrecks. first wreck picked up some cod and a few mackerel. cod to about 3lbs.
off to the next wreck BANG all rods bend over into fish, all around 4-6 lbs lovely clean white bellied cods fighting every inch of the way. 3 anglers landing 2 at a time.
around again, same again all rods into fish, all the fish scrapping all the way, fishing hectic just magic.
again all nice fish, eventually moved on, again 6 rods straight into fish. all the wrecks seemed stuffed with lovely plump cod, a few cod nudging 10lbs,we then picked up around 60 mackerel. loaded up the hooks with fresh mackerel and some nice ling and cod now coming in, all the wrecks fished well.
with bamba taking a nice ling of 15lbs. biggest of the day and around 160 nice cod and ling aboard. a lovely days fishing.
