Out today first since back from hols. Turned out a cracking day with the small tides, first drop produced a cod of 6lbs. Nice start same again next drift, picked up cod on almost all drifts, averaging 4-to 8lbs, a steady stream of fish coming aboard. All cod and a few pollack best 6-7lbs.
As the wind and tide eased further, the ling showed up. First a nice ling of 12.5lbs for alan, lovely fish for late November, swiftly followed by more lings and another couple into double figures, was turning out a lovely day, with now well over 50 nice quality fish aboard, Ronnie had been whopping fish in all day said something nice on here.
Sure enough this white shape was getting bigger and bigger,
What a belter ling fighting fit all the way . Weighed in just under 20lbs Ronnie’s personal best, couldn’t be more pleased for him
And we still weren’t finished picked away the rest of the day, all nice fish
Ending up with over 80 fish -

Report on-board Mistress
A cracking days fishing aboard Mistress. After a few mackerel drops, we headed north out of the river and fished a couple of wrecks. I didn't have much luck on hokkais, so I changed to a shad. The first cod I picked up was about 4lb. Then on the next drift I had a thumping bite from another cod, which weighed in at 16lb 8oz - a personal best. I continued the same tactics, landing another 8 cod around the 3 to 4lb. Matthew, a young lad fishing from a boat for the first time, changed to a shad. Following a bit of advice from the skipper, he started to land a few Cod himself. A great day, with everyone landing fish. Many thanks Tony.

Another cracking day fishing aboard Mistress. Talk about a mixed bag! It was my best day for catching a number of different species.

Tony had to search around before he found some fresh mackerel for bait. After that, we set off and headed to a few wrecks, picking up a few Cod. I had a couple to about 4lb before landing a Ling about the 10lb mark. The I hit a Ballan wrasse, a few Pouting and Coley before, taking a couple of whiting. After catching a weaver fish, I had a fierce bite. Reeling in, I thought the fish was decent; it was fighting hard. When it broke the surface I couldn't believe it- a wolf fish. The first I'd ever caught. Not big by any standards, about 6lb but it put up a great fight. Tony showed me the best way to skin it and recommend frying it like scampi. It's an ugly looking fish, but one of the best I've tasted.
Many thanks Tony, for another's fantastic day.
