We had a private charter today celebrating one of the lads birthdays, who had travelled all the way up from Northampton.

They had never fished before so we showed them the ropes, and stuck inside on the rough ground for the majority of the day; they soon got the hang of it.
Solid numbers of lovely clean pan-sized codling for them to take home for their efforts! -

Report on-board Sweet William
Bank Holiday Monday produced not only god tier weather but also some incredible fishing. Dustin and his party chartered the full boat for a short trip, the majority of which had never been to sea before let alone tried fishing.

We stuck tight inside on the shallow rough ground, and found them seemingly endless codling, with double shots and often five at a time being lifted around the boat each drift. Plenty of pouting, whiting, wrasse, and a small pollack thrown in the mix.
Thankfully it was just a short trip, as we called time and headed for home just as the fog descended in the afternoon. -

Massive thanks to Olivia for arranging a private charter for Oliver's birthday on Saturday, the lads travelled all the way up from Lancaster for a run out in lumpy but generally decent conditions. Plenty of codling, pouting and whiting came aboard steadily throughout the day. The First Mate powered himself up with hot beef casserole, and managed to find a few nice pan-sized codling for his efforts. Top baits were monster cart wings, squid, mussel and blacks, on custom made pulley pennel rigs courtesy of Billy's Fishing Tackle - North Shields.

It was a pleasure to welcome aboard our regulars over the last few trips, and most notably the American party who visited our region on Friday (their top rod was celebrating his 76th birthday)! They were great sports and fully understood that we were all guinea pigs testing the inner grounds, whilst fishing on anchor for the first time this year. Of course we nipped out to a wreck at slack water, and found a few late season Mackerel and a small Ling. Lots of fish came aboard steadily throughout the days, sometimes three at a time, predominantly Whiting, Coalies, Haddock and some decent Pollack and Codling, with a Dogfish thrown in for good measure.

With a slight break in the weather, the lads did incredibly well to brave a lumpy Saturday run out. It was tough going due to the challenging conditions, but they kept at it from the first minute to the last...the harder you work the luckier you get, and with some perseverance we managed to find some nice Ling, Pollack, Codling, Haddock, and any amount of good Whiting, Coalies, Pouting and Mackerel for the pan.
